Redemption at National Endurance Series Kyalami 4-Hours

The racing was close, the fight for overall victory was thrilling, and a new overall Kyalami lap record was set.
Those were the main reasons for which spectators will long remember Saturday's Four Hours of Kyalami, round four of the South African Endurance Championship connected by Vodacom 4U.

The event was won overall by Nick Adcock, Michael Jensen and Charl Michael Visser in their Adjust for Sleep/Rico Barlow Racing Nova Proto NP02.
After a race-long fight, they finished 12.6 seconds ahead of Xolile Letlaka, Stuart White and Axcil Jeffries in their Into Africa Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo 2 with penalties, a brief rain shower, the new lap record and punctures all playing a role in the outcome.
Brad Liebenberg and Ryan Naicker rounded out the podium in their Stradale Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo.

The three teams fought for the top placings from the start at 13h00, with different refueling strategies and drive-through penalties all playing roles to keep the lead switching hands.
The Stradale team's challenge faded after 90 minutes when their Audi's starter motor broke.
They were forced to push start the car after the next three pit stops, suffering a 25-seconds drive through penalty every time.

A brief rain shower played a role too, when the Lamborghini team stopped for wet weather tyres while the Nova gambled by staying out.
The bold strategy paid dividends when the rain stopped and the Lamborghini had to perform an extra pit stop for another tyre change.
Then Adcock spun the Nova and Jeffries took the lead with an hour and 51 minutes left to run.

Stuart White climbed into the leading Lamborghini for the final stint but suffered a right rear, and then a left front puncture.
The two unplanned stops cost the Into Africa team 70 seconds and no chance of fighting for the win.
Charles Visser took the wheel of the Nova for the final stint and blasted around at a blistering pace that saw him set a new overall Kyalami lap record of 1:40.10 on his second last lap.
He sealed the team's second win of the year, leading home the Into Africa Lamborghini and Stradale Audi teams.

The father-and-son team of Henk and Hein Lategan crew brought their SAC Porsche 911 GT3 Cup home in fourth, with consistency earning them the Index of Performance and Class B wins.
Fifth overall was the G&H Transport Audi R8 of Ricky and Giani Giannoccaro, and Ant Blunden, followed by the Blue Sands Ford Mustang of Franco di Matteo, Julian Familiaris and Romano Sartori.
Class C honours went to the Korridas Volkswagen Golf GTI of Bruno Campos, Sandro Alves and Mario Da Silva after battling through the final 90 minutes with the car stuck in third gear.
One-Hour
Charl Arangies stormed to victory in his Vaal Fluid Systems Porsche 911 GT3R, followed by the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Damian Hammond and the Xena Chemicals Ligier JS49 of Andrew Horne.

Lamborghini's half-year operating profit dips amid currency headwinds
Italian luxury sports car maker Lamborghini said on Wednesday its operating income fell slightly in the first half even as it delivered record numbers of cars to customers as currency effects weighed on its bottom line. Operating income stood at €431m (R8,904,511,720) from January to June versus €458m (R9,462,934,940) a year before, primarily due to unfavourable exchange rate trends in the second quarter, the company said. "The results are solid despite global economic and political instability," CEO Stephan Winkelmann said. Net revenues amounted to €1.62bn (R33,471,516,600) in the time as the carmaker, part of Germany's Volkswagen, delivered 5,681 cars, its highest amount ever for a first half. Its operating profit margin fell to 26.6% from 28.3% a year before. Winkelmann said the results confirmed a decision to make all Lamborghini's range hybrid was right, as shown by the success of the Revuelto sportscar, its first plug-in hybrid, launched in 2023, and of the Urus SE SUV. "Our vision is shared by our customers," he said. "We look forward to the market launch of the Temerario, which will complete the first fully hybrid range in the segment". Lamborghini, based near Bologna in northern Italy, did not make any reference to Sunday's EU-US framework trade deal, which imposed a 15% US import tariff on most EU goods, despite the Americas region accounting for around 30% of its deliveries in the first half, or 1,732 cars. The Europe, Middle East and Africa region led deliveries in that time with 2,708 units, while Asia Pacific accounted for 1,241 units. Earlier this year Winkelmann said US tariffs would have an impact on Lamborghini's revenue even though luxury product makers can pass on potential tariffs to customers as there was a "sweet point" beyond which "you lose volumes".

We put the new Lamborghini Temerario through its paces at Estoril
Hybrid technology is perceived as robbing sports cars of their charisma in the quest for reduced emissions, and while this can be true, the Lamborghini Temerario wouldn't be the car it is without its three electric motors. The all-wheel drive Temerario — per Lamborghini tradition named after a fighting bull — replaces the Huracán as Lamborghini's new junior supercar and completes the hybridisation of the Italian brand's line-up after the petrol-electric Revuelto and Urus SE. Temerario means 'reckless' in Italian, and while the bull may not rage as loudly as its predecessor, it is faster and more agile. I drove the Temerario last week at its global media launch in Estoril, a Portuguese track that has hosted Formula One and MotoGP races. On that challenging rollercoaster of a track, with its combination of fast and slow curves and elevation changes, Lamborghini's new supercar demonstrated an astonishing depth of ability. The Huracán's normally aspirated 5.2 l V10 engine is replaced by a new 4.0 l V8 twin-turbo complemented by two electric motors at the front and one at the rear. The single electric motor at the back is located between the mid-mounted combustion engine and the eight-speed dual clutch transmission. The hybrid car can be driven in all-electric stealth mode for up to 10km. The Temerario has typical Lamborghini design cues with muscular aviation-inspired lines and a hexagonal theme throughout the car including the side air intakes and lights. It has a slightly roomier two-seater cabin than the Huracán, providing sufficient head- and legroom for my six-foot (1.83m) frame even while wearing a helmet. The hi-tech dashboard has a digital instrument panel, a central infotainment screen and a touchscreen for the passenger, and the fighter plane-inspired cockpit has a flip-up cover for the start-stop button.
