Rock legend worth £110,000,000 shocks fans on £47 Ryanair flight to Bristol

Metro2 days ago
Rock legend Sir Bob Geldof surprised passengers on a Ryanair flight from Venice to Bristol.
Despite having a net worth of £111million ($150m), the Boomtown Rats singer, 73, showed that he was both an eco-warrior and a man of the people as he and his band travelled on a £47 flight to Bristol.
The Irish singer was spotted at Venice's Marco Polo airport by a fellow passenger who said he spotted the millionaire looking incognito in sunglasses and having a coffee and a croissant in a cafe after security.
They also noted that he was happy to join the long Ryanair check-in queue, and didn't pay for early boarding.
'He didn't even pay to fast-track security or anything, he didn't moan or anything – he was just with everybody else,' Jay Curtis, a travel content creator, told Bristol Post.
The content creator got a selfie and asked Sir Bob what he was doing on a commercial flight, to which he replied: 'I don't spend money on luxury travel'.
Sir Bob's travel journey took place on Friday, July 18, days after the Boomtown Rats performed in Italy at the Pordenone Blues Festival.
The concert was a free event and took place 50 years after Live Aid, which was organised by Sir Bob, and was the largest charity concert in the history of music.
Earlier this month, the Live Aid 40th Anniversary Gala took place with Midge Ure and Sir Brian May also attending.
Sir Bob isn't the only star to be snapped slumming it with regular people on a commercial flight.
Tom Holland was snapped on a number of commercial flights from London to Budapest when he was visiting his then-girlfriend (now fiancée) Zendaya while she was shooting Dune.
The US Office's Rainn Wilson has been open about his climate change views and has shared stories about flying on commercial flights. More Trending
Robin Williams was also known to fly on commercial flights and reportedly expected no preferential treatment from the staff.
Last year, Will Ferrell made headlines when he flew on an Aer Lingus flight from London to Dublin.
'On my London to Dublin @AerLingus flight this evening I was beside Will Ferrell.. in a s**t unreserved seat. There we go, [sic]' @emmaquinlain, a passenger on the plane, shared at the time.
Metro has reached out to Sir Bob Geldof for comment.

Viewers have seen her struggle with her feelings for Harry after being caught up in one of the show's longest-running love triangles ever alongside Helana Ford. Harry has been affectionate with both women and despite making things exclusive with Helena, he has admitted to still having feelings for Shakira. Now, fans think she has been put in the firing line just in time for the annual award ceremony that is known for lifting villa secrets and causing long-lasting rifts. Hitting out at bosses, one fan wrote online: "Watching Shakira be bullied by producers has been a hard watch. Megan and Helena have said some terrible things and behaved in a disgusting manner but it is never shown. "No matter what Shakira does it is is like she is being bullied out of her sanity and out of the villa. Complain to Ofcom." Someone else similarly added: "I've logged an Ofcom complaint about the repeated attacks on Shakira by the production team." Another penned: "WHY THEY KEEP MAKING SHAKIRA A TARGET FOR BULLYING ? Feel so bad for her." Before a fourth affirmed their plans to alert broadcasting watchdog Ofcom, writing: "Oh here we go ofcom is calling my name." It comes as The Sun told how a heartbroken Shakira threatened to quit the show and leave the villa amid her conflicting feelings for Harry as well as her recent break-up with Conor. Love Island star Harry's shock comment to Shakira revealed - just hours after going exclusive with Helena In as-yet unaired scenes, the lass from Burnley had a meltdown in the beach hut after ending her blossoming relationship with Conor over fears she'd never get over Harry. The Sun can reveal Shakira was so upset by the situation, she went to seek support from the 24/7 duty of care team and asked to leave. Bosses were able to help her through the turmoil over a number of hours and she made the decision to stay. The meltdown happened after she ended things with the Irish rugby lad. A source said: 'Shakira has been through the wringer and was already at breaking point over her heartbreak by Harry. 'When Harry made it exclusive with Helena, everything unravelled and she realised she wasn't ready to be with Conor properly. 'She did the brave thing by ending that, but then the floodgates opened and she just didn't want to be in the villa anymore. 'She went to the beach hut and asked to leave the villa. 'The duty of care team were able to help her through her emotions and she decided to stay.' Coronation Street's Simon Gregson lays bare 'very strange' reality behind soap scenes

Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson has opened up about his long-running role as Steve McDonald in the soap, admitting he has shared some very intimate moments with co-stars The soaps might portray ordinary, everyday existence, but what goes on behind the cameras is far from ordinary, according to Coronation Street 's Simon Gregson. ‌ Simon has been playing Steve McDonald for more than 35 years, navigating dramatic plots including gangster beatings and seven marriages, to five different wives and an extended struggle with depression. Yet it's the intimate scenes that Simon has found most demanding. ‌ On the People Are Deep podcast, he revealed: "In my job you have to get to know people so very quickly because you can have only have just met them that day and you've got to snog them, be half naked with them in a bed, and do a 'before the watershed' sex scene and tell them you love them." ‌ The 50-year-old added that working so closely with fellow actors means "it becomes very raw" almost immediately. He described it as "a very strange, but a nice feeling". Simon was discovered for his Corrie part whilst still at school, though acting had never been his intended career path. "I joined Coronation Street by accident," he revealed. ‌ "I was wagging school with a friend of was adamant that we were just going to stay off school for the whole day, but I said 'Absolutely not. We need to go in, we need to do the register so at least they think we're there, and then we'll go to Manchester Arndale Centre.'" Simon and his pal were in for a surprise when they rocked up at school, only to find ITV talent scouts on the hunt for fresh faces to join the cast of Coronation Street. ‌ "They took photographs of us," Simon reminisced, "because I think they had a certain look they were looking for. I had blue eyes, the dad was Irish. That was as simple as it was." The scouts had their eyes set on Simon and Nicholas Cochrane from Kingsway School to audition for a couple of new roles on the cobbles. "Then," Simon recounted, "some guy started talking to us and we had to stop him and say, 'Sorry, you're talking to us as if we've got the job.' And he went, 'Yeah you've got the job.' And I've been there ever since." ‌ Before this unexpected turn, Nicholas Cochrane had already dipped his toes into the world of TV as an extra for Granada TV, which produces Coronation Street. And after he landed the part of Andy McDonald, the producers wanted someone with a similar look to play his twin brother. When the opportunity came knocking, Simon didn't hesitate. He confessed: "I'd never acted in my life. I didn't want to be an actor." ‌ He was more enticed by the prospect of television's financial rewards, saying: "It was the fact it was TV, and TV sound sounded very much like money to me, I wanted some of that green stuff!" While Nicholas bowed out after seven years, with just a few reappearances for family weddings, Simon's impromptu decision has led to a career spanning decades on the beloved soap. "I wouldn't say no to being in Coronation Street, playing Steve, for the rest of my life," Simon declared. "For me it was never about ambition. It was never about treading the boards and trying new things. For me it was always a job, you know, a regular wage. "I love what I do. I love the people that I work with. So as long as they'll have me, and pay me, I'll stay."

Love Island star branded 'biggest scammer' in the villa as she reacts to couple's huge milestone One tweeted: 'Shakira is the most respectful, self aware, mature person in Love Island history, never mind the fact she's only 22.' Another added: 'Shakira is so real that she's willing to leave the villa without a man or winning instead of faking it with Conor til the end.' It comes after fans called out Love Island bosses for allegedly giving Shakira a "villain edit" just days before the final. ITV2 viewers insisted the marketing engineer, 22, has been "set up" by producers as they took to social media with their latest show theory. Some claim the Shakira and show BFF Toni are being made to look like 'mean girls,' despite what they see as Shakira's unfair treatment in the villa. This week, show bosses confirmed the date of the 2025 final - this being on on Monday, August 4, from 9pm to 10.35pm. 6 It came after she feared she wouldn't get over Harry Credit: Eroteme 6 Harry went exclusive with Helena Credit: Eroteme
