Trevor Bauer throws shade at MLB after Pete Rose's reinstatement
The controversial former MLB pitcher spoke out on social media on Wednesday, one day after the late Rose was reinstated, continuing his crusade against the league he claims is blackballing him.

'So, since Pete is welcome back now, does that go for everyone who has been blackballed?' Bauer wrote on X. 'Or do you actually have to be guilty of something to qualify for that?'

Bauer, who is currently pitching in the Nippon Professional Baseball league in Japan, has been out of MLB for four years after sexual assault allegations were raised against him in 2021.
The league initially placed Bauer on administrative leave before eventually suspending him for 324 games, later reducing the ban to 194 upon appeal.
The 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner can re-sign with a new MLB team, but has yet to catch on with any of the 30 organizations stateside.

Bauer claimed last fall that it was 'an MLB decision' whether he ever signs with another team.

At the time, the Daily Mail obtained a statement from an MLB spokesperson stating that Bauer is eligible to sign with any of its 30 clubs.
'Trevor Bauer served the entirety of his discipline and is an unrestricted free agent available to sign a contract with any team,' the statement read.
Bauer's latest outcry comes a day after Rose, who was placed on the league's permanently ineligible list in August 1989 for gambling on baseball while manager of the Reds, was reinstated by commissioner Rob Manfred.
The decision makes Rose, who died in September, eligible to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame and will be considered by the Classic Baseball Era Committee in December 2027.

Tanner Gordon's 6 scoreless innings help Rockies beat Cardinals for their 1st shutout of the season
DENVER (AP) — Tanner Gordon pitched six scoreless innings and Ezequiel Tovar hit a home run to help the Colorado Rockies beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-0 on Wednesday and win back-to-back series for the first time since Sept. 13-18, 2024. Gordon (2-2) gave up four hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Jimmy Herget threw two innings of one-hit relief before Tyler Kinley pitched a 1-2-3 ninth. The trio combined for Colorado's first shutout of the season. The Rockies hit five consecutive singles in their four-run second inning off St. Louis starter Andre Pallante (5-7) and Jordan Beck added an RBI double in the fifth to make it 5-0. Tovar's solo shot in the eighth capped the scoring. Germán Márquez, who was scheduled to start for Colorado, was moved to the 15-day IL earlier Wednesday due to right biceps tendinitis. The Cardinals snapped their streak of scoring at least four runs in 11 straight games at Coors Field since Oliver Marmol became manager in 2021. Key moment Ryan McMahon drew a leadoff walk and, after Tovar flied out, Austin Nola, Kyle Farmer, Adael Amador, Tyler Freeman and Mickey Moniak hit five consecutive singles to give the Rockies a 4-0 lead in the second. Key stat Colorado, which was an MLB-worst 22-74 at the All-Star break, is 4-2 since their return. The Rockies have won as many series since the break (two) as they did prior to it. Up next Sonny Gray (9-4, 4.04 ERA) is set to pitch for St. Louis on Thursday against Yu Darvish (0-2, 6.08) in the first of four games against San Diego. Kyle Freeland (2-10, 5.19) takes the mound Friday for Colorado against the Baltimore Orioles, who haven't announced a starter. ___ AP MLB:

Jauan Jennings stands out at 49ers camp, but another receiver leaves with hamstring injury
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The receiver position was the center of attention for the San Francisco 49ers at their first training camp practice with Jauan Jennings leading the way in practice despite his desire for a new contract and Jacob Cowing leaving early with a hamstring injury. A year after Brandon Aiyuk skipped all of training camp practice as a contract 'hold in,' Jennings opted to go a different route this year as he seeks a new deal to replace the final season of a two-year, $15.4 million contract he signed in 2024. Jennings gave a warm greeting to coach Kyle Shanahan at the start of practice and led the way in drills, catching three passes in a team session. 'You want everyone out there on the field, especially some of your better players,' Shanahan said. "Jauan has been a hell of a player for us here for a while. One of our leaders too. He had a good practice and it was great to have him out there.' The 2020 seventh-round pick has emerged as one of quarterback Brock Purdy's most trusted options at wide receiver after having 77 catches for 975 yards and six TDs last season. With Deebo Samuel having been traded to Washington in March and Aiyuk working back from a knee injury, Jennings is expected to have a big role this season. Jennings has appeared to be in a good mood to start camp and is not letting the contract dispute interfere with that. 'Jauan was awesome today,' teammate George Kittle said. 'Great energy in the locker room yesterday. Great energy today. His normal self. I just appreciate him attacking it like there's nothing going on.' Cowing didn't have as good a start to camp after being one of the team's top performers in the offseason program. Cowing hurt his hamstring early in practice running a route and will likely miss some time. Shanahan said he didn't know the extent of the injury. Cowing missed time in training camp last summer with a hamstring injury. 'Hopefully, that's better news than what we're guessing out there, and he can get back, and get back to what he was doing in OTAs,' Shanahan said. Cowing struggled to get on the field last season as a fourth-round rookie, recording only four catches on 106 offensive snaps. San Francisco is counting on him taking a bigger role this season. New-look fields The biggest notable change for the Niners was the layout of the practice field. The team re-oriented the fields this summer to run from east to west instead of north and south. That allows San Francisco to have one full field that runs 165 yards with another shorter field. 'It's a work in progress,' Shanahan said. 'Today was my first time out there with that field, so it was the first time it was different for me in nine years, so I felt nauseous out there. I was dizzy the whole time. We're creatures of habit. I've stood in the same place all the time. I didn't know where to go today. But we'll get used to it.' Kicking competition The Niners have a kicking competition this summer with Greg Joseph brought in to challenge incumbent Jake Moody Moody, a third-round pick in 2023, went 24 for 34 on field goals lats season and was just 5 for 14 from at least 40 yards in his final nine games after coming back from an ankle injury. Joseph has made 82.3% of his career field goals since entering the league in 2018. Both kickers got a chance on day one with each making all four field-goal attempts in a competition that has drawn attention from other Niners players. 'I actually am paying attention,' star defensive end Nick Bosa said. "I can't lie.' ___ AP NFL:
