Athletics make decision on trading Mason Miller
Fans of the Athletics have surely seen the rumors of a Mason Miller trade. It makes sense that other teams would want the closer who can throw his fastball 104 miles per hour. But would the A's really trade him? Turns out, they aren't planning on it. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported on Sunday that, "The Athletics have told teams they're wasting their time by even calling: They are trading closer Mason Miller." MORE: Former Yankees, Astros slugger reaches 500 career home runs far from home The A's still have club control of Miller through 2029. The 26-year old can be their closer for a long, long time. He hasn't been quite as dominant this year as last, but he's still clearly one of the best bullpen aces in all of baseball. The Athletics could command a fortune for him, if they want, but based on this report, that won't be happening. What happened to Trevor Bauer? The Dodgers fired him over sexual assault claims but his accuser was later charged with fraud
Trevor Bauer was fired by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022.(Image via Thearon W. Henderson / Getty Images) T revor Bauer, once considered to be one of the most talented and popular players in the league, had his whole life change in December 2022 when a woman accused him of sexual assault. While the MLB later reinstated him, the Los Angeles Dodgers fired him in January 2023 due to the allegations against him. But things changed in 2024, when Trevor Bauer accused the same woman, Darcy Adanna Esemonu, of 'fraudulent schemes and artifices'. Trevor Bauer's life changed when he was accused of sexual assault but then he accused the woman of 'fraud' Back in 2022, Darcy Adanna Esemonu accused Trevor Bauer of sexually assaulting her in late 2020 which had then resulted in a pregnancy. This news had sparked uproar in the league and had sent shockwaves across his fans. The serious allegations led to Trevor Bauer being fired from his team in January 2023 but in 2024, the woman was charged by Trevor Bauer for getting undisclosed benefits 'by means of fraudulent pretenses, representation, promises, or material omissions.' Apparently, as per CNN Sports, according to the police report, Darcy Adanna Esemonu had demanded a whopping $1.6 million from Trevor Bauer for an abortion. While Trevor Bauer did pay $10,000 for pregnancy needs, as per his lawyer, the woman was actually never pregnant when she demanded the amount from the MLB player. When Trevor Bauer was accused of sexually assaulting Darcy Adanna Esemonu, he strongly denied charges of getting intimate with her without her consent. The former Los Angeles Dodgers' player even shot a video where he denied any charges related to sexual assault. In the YouTube video, Trevor Bauer had said, 'If there comes a time in the future where I need to defend myself further, I will not hesitate to do so.' The former Los Angeles Dodgers' player added, 'For now, there is no reason to speak further on this topic, though, because outside of Adanna – who's now been indicted with felony fraud – there are no claims against me, no ongoing investigations, and no outstanding lawsuits.' At this point in time, there are no further public updates about the case between Trevor Bauer and Darcy Adanna Esemonu. Also Read: What went wrong for free agent Julio Urías? BayStars' Trevor Bauer dejected and searching for answers as slump continues
Trevor Bauer has lost his way. Shortly after allowing five runs in a loss to the Yomiuri Giants on Saturday, Bauer leaned against a wall at Tokyo Dome with an unfocused gaze and slumped shoulders. When he tried to make sense of what happened on the field earlier, he could not always find the words, speaking quietly and deliberately, his usual self-assurance masked by the dejection that rolled off him in waves. Bauer is mired in a slump with three rough outings in his last four games for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars. He has lost four straight decisions and allowed 19 runs in his last 20⅓ innings. The thing that hits him hardest, though, is that he can't figure out why. 'It's a mixture of frustration and depression,' Bauer said. 'Everything I've tried has been unsuccessful. So I don't know. I have five elite pitches. When I throw them in the zone, they hit like .400 on balls in play. I lead the Central League in strikeouts, but I've given up the most hits and the most runs. I don't know how to rationalize those two things. 'I have elite swing-and-miss stuff, but every time I throw it in the zone, it gets hit. I try to throw more on the edges, I don't get swings out of the zone, and I walk a lot of people. So then, as the game goes along, I try to throw more pitches in the zone, so I don't walk people, and then everything is a hit.' 'I don't know what else to ... I'm completely lost, to be honest.' Bauer (4-7) allowed seven hits in 5⅓ innings against the Giants. He struck out five and walked six. 'There's a couple of them that I definitely just lost command of the zone,' he said of the walks, four of which came in the first two innings. 'A lot of them, I was trying to be on the edges of the zone. When I get too much of the plate, I give up a lot of hits, so I was trying to be on the edges. They did a good job of laying off some close pitches. 'I thought my command actually got better as the game went along. Incidentally, I ended up giving up a lot more hits and a lot more runs as the game went along too.' Bauer gave up a two-run double to Yoshihiro Maru that opened the scoring in the fourth and a one-out three-run triple by Louis Okoye in the sixth. 'When he hit it, I thought, 'Oh, it's a routine double play ball,'' Bauer said of Okoye's hit up the middle. 'I thought I was out of the inning. Somehow it was a triple." Bauer's ERA rose to 4.13 and is the highest among qualified pitchers in NPB. His outing on Saturday came on the heels of a disastrous start against the Chiba Lotte Marines in which he allowed seven runs in one inning on June 22. BayStars pitching coach Shinji Ohara said after the game that he is not sure when Bauer will make his next start. On Sunday, the BayStars removed the right-hander from the active roster. He will be eligible to return in 10 days. Bauer said he felt good physically and that his mechanics felt normal. He said he had good communication with catcher Hikaru Ito, who he had not worked with this season, after his bullpen earlier in the week. When he left the game after Okoye's triple, television cameras caught him having a brief, but animated exchange with Ohara. Bauer declined to go into specifics, saying it was 'personal.' Bauer's second season in Japan is not going as well as the first when he was 10-4 with a 2.76 ERA for the BayStars in 2023. He pitched in the Mexican League in 2024. He has been hoping for a return to MLB but has remained on the outside since facing four allegations of sexual assault from 2021 to 2024. Bauer was never arrested or charged. Bauer, whose last appearance in the majors was in 2021, was suspended by MLB, ultimately serving a 194-game suspension (reduced from 324 games by an independent arbitrator) before being reinstated in December 2022. As a baseball player, Bauer says he is depressed, something he has not felt before. 'As far as baseball goes, no,' he said. 'I've always felt like I could compete my way out of it. I always felt like there was something I was building towards. I don't really know what that is anymore. Yeah, no, I haven't felt like this before.'

Trevor Bauer throws shade at MLB after Pete Rose's reinstatement
Trevor Bauer is yet again asking for another shot in the big leagues after Pete Rose's reinstatement. The controversial former MLB pitcher spoke out on social media on Wednesday, one day after the late Rose was reinstated, continuing his crusade against the league he claims is blackballing him. Advertisement 'So, since Pete is welcome back now, does that go for everyone who has been blackballed?' Bauer wrote on X. 'Or do you actually have to be guilty of something to qualify for that?' Trevor Bauer of the Los Angeles Dodgers looks on after giving up a hit to Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers during the fifth inning at Dodger Stadium on June 12, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. Getty Images Bauer, who is currently pitching in the Nippon Professional Baseball league in Japan, has been out of MLB for four years after sexual assault allegations were raised against him in 2021. The league initially placed Bauer on administrative leave before eventually suspending him for 324 games, later reducing the ban to 194 upon appeal. The 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner can re-sign with a new MLB team, but has yet to catch on with any of the 30 organizations stateside. Advertisement Bauer claimed last fall that it was 'an MLB decision' whether he ever signs with another team. Former Philadelphia Phillies great Pete Rose acknowledges the crowd during Alumni Day ceremony before a game against the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park in 2022. USA TODAY Sports At the time, the Daily Mail obtained a statement from an MLB spokesperson stating that Bauer is eligible to sign with any of its 30 clubs. 'Trevor Bauer served the entirety of his discipline and is an unrestricted free agent available to sign a contract with any team,' the statement read. Bauer's latest outcry comes a day after Rose, who was placed on the league's permanently ineligible list in August 1989 for gambling on baseball while manager of the Reds, was reinstated by commissioner Rob Manfred. The decision makes Rose, who died in September, eligible to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame and will be considered by the Classic Baseball Era Committee in December 2027.
