NBA: 76ers picked up $8.4M option on Kelly Oubre Jr. — report
The Philadelphia 76ers picked up the one-year, $8.4 million contract option for forward Kelly Oubre Jr. in 2025-26, ESPN reported Sunday.
Oubre, 29, averaged 15.1 points with 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 60 games (57 starts) with the 76ers last season. He has produced at least 15.0 points per game in each of the last seven seasons.
In 10 NBA seasons, Oubre has averaged 13.3 points with 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 655 games (311 starts) for the Washington Wizards (2015-19), Phoenix Suns (2019-20), Golden State Warriors (2020-21), Charlotte Hornets (2021-23) and 76ers.
While Oubre will be back in Philadelphia for 2025-26, guards Eric Gordon and Lonnie Walker IV reportedly won't be.
Gordon declined his $3.4 million player option to test free agency, while the Sixers declined Walker's $2.9 million team option, according to ESPN.
Gordon, 36, appeared in 39 games (13 starts) in his first season in Philadelphia before undergoing arthroscopic wrist surgery in February. He put up 6.8 points per game after averaging double-figure points in each of his previous 16 NBA seasons.
Walker, 26, began the season with EuroLeague club Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania before the Sixers brought in the Pennsylvania native in February. He played in just 20 games (seven starts) but put up 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, all of which represent career highs.
After four seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Walker spent one apiece with the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets. — Field Level Media/Reuters

Report: Deal being finalized to return Damian Lillard to Trail Blazers
Nine-time All-Star Damian Lillard is finalizing a three-year, $42 million contract to return to the Portland Trail Blazers, ESPN reported on Thursday. Per ESPN, Lillard now will receive a salary of $70 million between his existing deal with the Milwaukee Bucks and his new contract with the Trail Blazers. He also will have a player-option in 2027 and a no-trade clause in a deal that returns Lillard to the franchise with which he spent his first 11 NBA seasons. Lillard, who turned 35 on Tuesday, saw his season come to an abrupt end on April 27 after an excruciating torn left Achilles tendon knocked him out of the rest of the playoffs. He is expected to miss the 2025-26 season. Lillard was hurt in the first quarter of the Bucks' 129-103 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference first-round series in just his third game back after dealing with a blood clot in his right calf. He missed the final 14 games of the regular season and the first contest of the playoff series against the Pacers. Lillard requested a trade out of Portland in the summer of 20xx and the team obliged. The Trail Blazers were entering a transition into a rebuild and Lillard wanted to go to a team in which he could compete for a championship. Lillard averaged 24.9 points, 7.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 58 regular-season games during his second season with the Bucks. He was waived by Milwaukee on July 7. Lillard owns career averages of 25.1 points, 6.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 900 regular-season contests. NBA: Paolo Banchero, Magic agreed to $239-M max rookie deal — agent
The Orlando Magic are locking up cornerstone player Paolo Banchero, agreeing to a five-year, $239 million maximum rookie extension with the star forward on Monday, his agent told ESPN. If Banchero is either named to an All-NBA team or wins NBA MVP or Defensive Player of the Year next season, the extension could reach $287 million, per Miller. Banchero's deal includes a player option in 2030-31, which has not happened since Luka Doncic (then with the Dallas Mavericks) and the Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young finished out their rookie max contracts in 2021. The Magic appear poised to be serious contenders in the Eastern Conference for the foreseeable future, with Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs also under contract for the next five seasons, newcomer Desmond Bane signed through the 2028-29 season and Tyus Jones joining on a one-year deal. Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 draft, has guided the franchise to two consecutive postseason appearances, despite missing 34 games last season with an early oblique injury. He is also coming off a campaign in which he averaged career-high 25.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game along with 4.8 assists, becoming just the third Magic player to average more than 25 ppg (Shaquille O'Neal, Tracy McGrady). Kyle Lowry to play 20th NBA season with hometown 76ers
Veteran guard Kyle Lowry, who spent parts of the last two seasons playing in his hometown of Philadelphia, signed a one-year deal on Monday to play his 20th NBA campaign with the 76ers. Terms were not disclosed in the deal for the six-time All-Star, who debuted with the Memphis Grizzlies after they made him their first-round pick (No. 24) in the 2006 draft. "Kyle's championship experience and Hall of Fame resume speaks for itself. He is a proven floor general with tremendous knowledge of the game that is a resource to everyone in the organization," 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey said. "It's only fitting that his 20th NBA season will be right here in Philadelphia, the city he calls home." Last season, the 39-year-old Lowry posted 3.9 points, 2.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds over 35 games (12 starts). Over his career, the former Villanova star has averaged 13.9 points, 6.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 1,173 games (898 starts) with the Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat and 76ers. Among active players, Lowry ranks in the top 10 in assists (fifth, 7,099), 3-pointers (seventh, 2,205), steals (ninth, 1,499) and triple-doubles (10th, 21).
