Posting sorcery killings online to be made crime in PNG
The pledge to implement tougher penalties follows the murder of a woman in Hela province in the country's highlands last week.
The 45 year old woman was tortured and shot after being accused of using witchcraft to kill her husband and a video of her killing was posted online.
In a statement Mr Marape welcomed the arrest of eight men but said recurring incidents of sorcery accusation-related violence are a source of national shame and must end.

Shocking footage reveals brothers ‘brawling with cops' in airport chaos
Two brothers allegedly involved in an assault on a customer at Manchester airport lashed out at three responding officers using a 'high level of violence' in a bloody attack caught on CCTV, a court has heard. A jury at Liverpool Crown Court heard cops had been dispatched to deal with Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, and Muhammad Amaad, 26, following an earlier altercation at a Starbucks in the airport. Footage played to the court previously showed Amaaz headbutting customer Abdulkareem Ismaeil in the cafe and punching him on July 23, The Sun reports. Jurors also watched new airport camera footage from opposite angles which captured what prosecutors say was a 'high level of violence' towards the officers. PC Zachary Marsden and PC Ellie Cook – both armed – and PC Lydia Ward, who was unarmed, could be seen approaching the brothers in the car park of Terminal 2. Amaaz resisted as police tried to move him away from a payment machine to arrest him before Amaad intervened. The court heard Amaaz threw ten punches – including one to PC Ward's face that sent her crashing to the ground with blood pouring from her nose. He is also said to have kicked PC Marsden and twice struck firearms officer PC Cook with his elbow. The court heard that that Amaad also aimed six punches at the firearms officer PC Marsden. Both Amaaz and PC Marsden then fell to the ground before the officer gets up and appears to 'stamp' his foot towards Amaaz's head, it is alleged. Junior counsel Adam Birkby said the cop 'doesn't appear to connect with Mr Amaaz'. As the brawl continues, the police officers get their Tasers out before managing to handcuff the brothers with the help of other cops. At one point, PC Ward could be seen appearing to cry as she holds her nose. In his evidence, PC Marsden said he felt 'blows from all directions' and branded them the 'hardest I have ever felt in my life'. He also said felt an 'immense weight of pressure' to his right side and felt his Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol move across his leg and around his body during the brawl. PC Marsden added: 'My initial fear is that someone is trying to get my gun. If someone gained my firearm it would pose an immediate lethal threat to anyone in the vicinity. 'The risk of my firearm being taken from me did not stop until we gained control. 'There was more than one person involved here – the aggressor I was trying to arrest and possibly an accomplice who was a much bigger physical build than me and much taller.' Footage from the body-worn cameras of the three officers was also played to the jury. Amaaz is alleged to have assaulted PC Marsden and PC Ward, causing them actual bodily harm. He is also accused of the assault of PC Cook and the earlier assault of a member of the public, Abdulkareem Ismaeil, at Starbucks. Amaad, 26, is alleged to have assaulted PC Marsden, causing actual bodily harm. Both men, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, deny the allegations. The court heard previously that the brothers had gone to meet their mum at the airport on July 23. She had allegedly been involved in some sort of incident with Abdulkareem either on their flight or shortly after it. As the brothers passed by the Starbucks, the mum pointed out Abdulkareem to her sons as he sat with his wife and children in the cafe. Prosecutor Paul Greaney KC said: 'At just after 8.20pm, the defendants entered Starbucks and confronted Abdulkareem Ismaeil. 'During that confrontation, Mohammed Fahir Amaaz delivered a headbutt to the face of Abdulkareem Ismaeil and punched him, then attempted to deliver other blows, all in front of a number of children. 'The prosecution case is that this was obviously unlawful conduct.' Jurors heard PC Marsden suffered 'post-concussion syndrome' and was left with a 'severe headache' for three days, dizziness, forgetfulness and bruising and swelling. PC Ward was left with a broken nose and needed surgery under general anaesthetic, it was said. The court was told both Amaaz and Amaad have claimed they acted in self-defence. Amaaz denies assaulting PC Marsden and PC Ward, causing them actual bodily harm. He is also accused of the assault of PC Cook and the earlier assault of Abdulkareem Ismaeil at Starbucks. Amaad has pleaded not guilty to assaulting PC Marsden, causing actual bodily harm.

Three people have been charged following an alleged clash outside an Israeli restaurant in Melbourne's CBD. 'Damage was caused to the glass door of the restaurant during the incident.' Police were called to the scene and directed the group to leave. On Monday morning, police arrested three people after executing a series of search warrants. A 50-year-old Richmond man, a 48-year-old Footscray woman and a 28-year-old Essendon woman have been charged with assault, affray, riotous behaviour and criminal damage. The Richmond man was remanded in custody and appeared at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon. 'Victoria Police is disappointed with the actions of protesters in the Melbourne CBD on Friday night,' police said in a statement. 'Victoria Police continued to support the rights of Victorians to protest peacefully but will not tolerate the kind of anti-social and violent behaviour that was witnessed this evening.' Israeli restaurant Miznon was targeted during the incident. Picture: NewsWire / Nadir Kinani Miznon, the restaurant targeted during the incident, released a statement on Tuesday saying the events on Friday had had a 'profound impact'. 'The actions of a few caused much distress to our customers and to neighbouring restaurant patrons and staff,' the statement said. 'While others have chosen to speak about who we are and decided we are a legitimate target for protest, we want to be clear about who we are, in our words. 'We are a restaurant, a place of hospitality, of warmth and welcome. Our greatest joy is to feed people from every background and viewpoint.' Despite the damage, Miznon reopened the following day. Police allege Miznon was targeted by a 'splinter group' from a larger protest calling for an independent investigation into 'Vic Pol's indiscriminate use of force'. The incident occurred on the same night as an East Melbourne synagogue was targeted in an arson attack, and three cars torched outside a Greensborough business. Police are urging anyone with further information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers. Amelia Swan Journalist Amelia Swan joined News Corp as a cadet reporter in 2024. Amelia Swan
