Jagan unfit to be in politics, says Bheemunipatnam MLA
Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has criticised YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, claiming that he is unfit to be in politics. The former Minister stated that a true politician should show qualities like compassion, empathy and concern for the public, but Mr. Jagan lacked any of these.
Referring to the recent incident during Mr. Jagan's visit to Palnadu district, where an elderly man named Singaiah died after being run over by Mr. Jagan's convoy, Mr. Srinivasa Rao condemned the YSRCP's response. He said it was outrageous that the party leaders downplayed the tragedy by pointing out that the deceased was a YSRCP supporter, questioning why it should concern the TDP.
Addressing the media at his residence on Tuesday, Mr. Srinivasa Rao stated that after five disastrous years under the YSRCP rule, the people delivered a strong verdict reducing the party to just 11 seats. Instead of assessing the reasons for the defeat and addressing public concerns, Mr. Jagan is again trying to create unrest in the State and gain public attention. The former Minister alleged that Mr. Jagan is now touring villages and inciting law and order issues, even causing deaths. These deaths should be treated as murders by the YSRCP president, he said. If this behaviour continues, Mr. Jagan could face even greater setbacks in the coming years, he noted.
He expressed surprise at Mr. Jagan questioning whether the previous YSRCP government had caused any trouble for the TDP or the JSP leaders. He said the Jagan's administration had harassed Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, obstructed Mr. Pawan Kalyan's visit to Visakhapatnam, and interfered with Mr. Nara Lokesh's 'Praja Galam' yatra.

Private schools in Andhra Pradesh warned against turning down admissions under RTE Act
Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. The provision of the Act mandates private unaided schools to set aside 25% of seats in their institutions at the entry level for students belonging to the marginalised sections of society. In a statement, Mr. Srinivasa Rao instructed the school managements to verify the documents submitted and confirm the admissions accordingly. 'Denial of admission, without any valid reason, will invite departmental action,' Mr. Srinivasa Rao cautioned, and said these admissions would be confirmed through logins specially assigned to the Additional Project Coordinators (APCs) of Samagra Shiksha at the district level. He said, in case of any queries, the school managements might contact the respective Mandal or District Education Officers, or Regional Joint Directors. Meanwhile, the deadline for completing the admissions under the Act has been extended from June 28 to July 2, 2025. Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the decision was taken in response to requests by parents and officials. Second phase of lottery In the second phase of lottery, a total of 8,583 students had been selected under the RTE quota. Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the parents, or guardians of the students who were allotted seats should visit the respective schools with relevant documents for verification and confirm the admissions by July 2. The details of selected students were sent via SMS to the registered mobile numbers of the parents. They were also available on the official website: For further information, the toll-free number 1800 425 8599 could be contacted, he said. The department initiated the RTE admission process on April 9, in alignment with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) framed by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). A State-specific SOP was also developed and communicated to all the DEOs on April 18. To ensure effective monitoring and grievance redress, District Admission Monitoring Committees (DAMCs) were constituted in all the districts. A total of 9,568 private unaided schools had registered on the RTE portal from April 19 to 30. The application window for eligible students was kept open from May 2 to 19. Out of the total 37,427 applicants, 28,561 opted for school preferences. Mr. Srinivasa Rao informed that in the first phase of lottery, 23,118 students had been allotted schools and 15,541 of them confirmed and joined their respective schools. He said since the remaining students did not confirm their joining due to various reasons, they were again considered in the second phase. Seats were allotted to 8,583 eligible students in schools located within the radius of 3 km from the residences of the beneficiaries in the second round of lottery conducted on June 20. Informing that the district-wise reports for both the phases had been prepared and shared for transparency and public reference, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the government was committed to ensuring access to quality education for every eligible child under the RTE Act.

Municipal engineering workers' protest for wage hike enters fourth day
The indefinite strike by the municipal engineering employees working in various departments entered fourth day on June 28. The employees are demanding a wage hike and implementation of welfare schemes. Municipal engineering workers engaged in parks, town planning, street lighting, and computer operators and vehicle depot mechanics participated in the strike, organised by the Municipal Corporation Workers and Employees Union, affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions(CITU), at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on June 28 (Saturday). Addressing the protesting workers, CPI (M) leader Ch. Babu Rao criticised the TDP-led NDA government in the State for failing to address the concerns of municipal workers. 'The prices of essential goods, electricity charges and taxes are increasing, but wages for these employees remains the same,' Mr. Babu Rao said. He demanded to know how many times the salaries of MLAs and Ministers were increased. 'Everyone wants drinking water, street lights and likes to see the greenery enhanced in parks. But the government does not care about those who ensure that these facilities are being provided,' Mr. Babu Rao said, adding that to the government, the plants in the park seem to be more important than the lives of these workers who take care of them. The protesting employees also alleged that many government welfare schemes remained elusive to them. They are not eligible for schemes such as Thalliki Vandanam, social pension, pension for differently abled, they said while adding that they do not have exemption from electricity charges too. The Union president Donepudi Kasinath said that the government should follow Government Order 36, issued during the previous regime, and increase the employees' honorarium to anywhere between ₹21,000 and ₹24,000 per month.
