The latest update points out that Metro in Dino collected ₹1.95 crore on Wednesday. It is the lowest single-day collection of the film so far. The number may appear small if compared with some of the big Bollywood releases of recent times but is a good achievement for a film of this scale and genre. The film made an opening day haul of ₹3.5 crore. The film concluded its opening weekend on a promising note, amassing a total box office collection of ₹16.17 crore.
The overall collections now stand at ₹ 24.2 crore.
About the film
Metro In Dino is the spiritual sequel to Life... In A Metro (2007), which was also directed by Anurag Basu, and starred Irrfan. Konkona Sen Sharma is the sole lead from the original cast to reprise her role in the new installment. The sequel delves into the lives of four new couples as they navigate the ups and downs of love and relationships across different cities. Produced by T-Series Films and Anurag Basu Productions, the film received a positive response from critics upon its release.
'The hero of the film- the music. It's a pity it hasn't managed to top the charts before the film's release, because it truly sucks you in and makes you stay seated. Pritam deserves applause for his compositions, while lyricists Sandeep Srivastava, Mayur Puri, Anurag Sharma, Qaisar Ul Jafri, Neelesh Mishra and Momin Khan Momin weave some lovely songs,' read an excerpt from the HT review of the film.

Karan Johar breaks silence on delay in Dhadak 2's release, says CBFC was ‘compassionate'

Producer Karan Johar broke his silence on the release of Dhadak 2, which will hit the theatres on August 1 after facing significant delays and modifications. At the trailer launch of the event, Karan said it took time to bring Dhadak 2 to theatres, but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) understood what they were trying to say through the film. The plot of the film is about two star-crossed lovers from different castes. He said, "I've never ever been worried about repercussions because that restricts you as an artist. If I get scared in the beginning, then…there's a line in the film, 'If you've a choice then fight', and the best way to point a put across is through art." Karan praises CBFC, says it protected sensitivity of Dhadak 2 "We took a while to get to the cinema halls, but even the censor board was very understanding and very compassionate and absolutely understood what we were trying to say through the film. "Sometimes these things take time, these things can't happen overnight. That's why there are processes in the censor and we must follow... It took time, but every good thing takes time (to come out). It is a story that makes you wake up and think. These topics are not just related to small towns, but they happen around us too. It is a true reality of our times, no matter where you live," he added. About Dhadak 2 Dhadak 2 revolves around Neelesh (Siddhant Chaturvedi), a college student who falls in love with Vidhi (Triptii Dimri), but their different caste backgrounds complicate their love. The Shazia Iqbal-directed film was previously slated to release in November 2024 but had to undergo several postponements.

Jurassic World: Rebirth Inches Towards Rs 60 Crore, Beats F1 On Day 8 In India

Jurassic World: Rebirth follows a team made up of mercenaries and scientists, sent to a remote island full of dinosaurs. Looks like Hollywood movies are having a winning streak at the Indian box office. From action-packed adventures to high-speed thrillers, films are drawing big crowds and big numbers. Among them, Jurassic World: Rebirth, led by Scarlett Johansson, has made a roaring entry. So far, it has collected Rs 58 crore in India. According to Sacnilk, Jurassic World: Rebirth added Rs 3 crore on its eighth day. Its opening weekend was with Rs 9.25 crore earned on Friday, Rs 13.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 16.25 crore on Sunday. The impressive run of the film has placed it ahead of another high-profile Hollywood release, F1, which stars Brad Pitt. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, F1 was released in India on June 27. On its eighth day, the film collected Rs 3.5 crore and its total collection at the time stood at Rs 39 crore. The film has continued to maintain its pace and, as per Sacnilk, now stands at around Rs 63.1 crore after fifteen days in Indian theatres. In F1, Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver from New York who once enjoyed fame and success on the track. But his career was cut short after a serious crash forced him to retire. Over the years, Sonny stepped away from the sport, trying to rebuild his life while dealing with the trauma and changes that came after the accident. His life takes a turn when Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem, reappears. Ruben is not just a friend but also a former teammate. He convinces Sonny to return to the Formula One world not as a driver but as a mentor. Sonny is brought on board to coach a promising new racer, Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris. Apart from the above-mentioned actors, the film stars Tobias Menzies and Kerry Condon in key roles. Meanwhile, Jurassic World: Rebirth follows a team made up of mercenaries and scientists who are sent to a remote island full of dinosaurs. Their mission is to retrieve prehistoric DNA for a medical project, but they also have to rescue a family stranded on the island. Things do not go as planned, and the group finds itself in a struggle to survive. Along the way, they must face three of the most powerful dinosaur species: Mosasaurus, Titanosaurus and Quetzalcoatlus. Directed by Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World Rebirth features a star-studded cast including Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Ed Skrein alongside Scarlett Johansson. As these two big titles continue to perform, a new challenger has entered the scene. Superman, starring David Corenswet, was released this week and has already made an impact. On its opening day in India, the film collected around Rs 7 crore net, according to Sacnilk. Directed by James Gunn, the film tells the story of Clark Kent, who struggles to find a balance between his Kryptonian origins and his life in Smallville with his human family. Alongside David Corenswet, the film stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It also features Superman's loyal dog, Krypto. Maalik Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajkummar Rao's violent crime film struggles with Rs 3.35 crore, half of Superman

Rajkummar Rao has stepped into the gangster genre with his latest release, Maalik, which hit theatres this Friday. Directed by Pulkit, the film also features Manushi Chhillar, Saurabh Shukla, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Swanand Kirkire, and Saurabh Sachdeva in prominent roles. Despite the buzz around Rao's new avatar, the film opened below industry expectations. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Maalik earned Rs 3.35 crore on its opening day. The film registered an overall Hindi occupancy rate of just 12.86% on Friday. It began on a sluggish note with morning shows drawing only 6.65%. Occupancy saw minimal improvement through the afternoon (11.12%) and evening (11.78%), before rising slightly to 21.88% by night. Regionally, Chennai led the charts with 26.67% occupancy, followed closely by Lucknow (24.00%) and Jaipur (22.00%). Surprisingly, traditional strongholds like Mumbai and Delhi NCR underperformed with just 13.00% and 14.25% occupancy respectively. Maalik's opening day numbers fall short of Rajkummar Rao's previous release, Bhool Chuk Maaf, which collected Rs 7 crore on Day 1. It also trailed behind The Diplomat, the John Abraham-led political thriller, which earned Rs 4 crore on its debut. However, Maalik fared better than Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, starring Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor, which opened to a modest Rs 32 lakh. Also Read | Maalik movie review: Rajkummar Rao film is predictable to a fault The film faces tough competition at the box office from both domestic and international releases. Among Indian films, Metro… In Dino, now in its second week, earned Rs 2.25 crore on Friday, bringing its total collection to Rs 29.1 crore. Meanwhile, Hollywood's summer blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth continues its strong run, entering its second week with Rs 3 crore on Friday and taking its cumulative total past Rs 58 crore. Adding to the pressure, Superman, another major Hollywood tentpole, released this week and collected Rs 7 crore on Day 1, nearly double the earnings of Maalik. There was significant anticipation surrounding Rajkummar Rao's foray into the gangster genre, especially in an era when many top actors are exploring action-oriented roles. However, early reviews and word-of-mouth have been mixed, with criticism directed at the film's generic storyline and lack of character depth. With a reported budget of Rs 54 crore, Maalik now faces an uphill battle at the box office. Unless it sees a dramatic turnaround in audience reception over the weekend, the film may struggle to recover its costs.
