'When we were casting, no heroines agreed to the film. Deepika said no, Alia was a no, and Shraddha also said no." Aamir added, 'Ultimately, Victor (Vijay Krishna Acharya) went with Fatima. However, Aditya Chopra and Victor conveyed that her test was good, but made it clear she won't be made my pair because I played her father in Dangal, the audience might not accept."
'While I don't believe in such aspects because neither am I her father in real life, nor her boyfriend. We're just making a film. Aren't we understimating our audience like they won't understand we are actors," he concluded.
Earlier, Aamir Khan spoke about Thugs of Hindostan's failure at Raj Shamani's podcast. He said, 'Mujhe bhi Thugs of Hindostan pasand nahi thi. Aaj main khulke bol sakta hoon — Aditya Chopra (producer) se maine bohot koshish ki unko… Jab film release ho rahi thi, main khud hi khush nahi tha. Kiran Rao (ex-wife) ko pata hai, jab meri film release aati hai, main do mahine tak so nahi pata, mera mind overtime chalta hai (I didn't like Thugs of Hindostan either. Today, I can openly say it — I really tried to convince Aditya Chopra (the producer)… When the film was about to release, I myself wasn't happy. Kiran Rao (my ex-wife) knows that whenever I have a film releasing, I can't sleep for two months — my mind goes into overdrive)."
He said, 'Kiran (Rao) ne mujhe bola, 'Release nazdeek aa rahi hai, aur tum itminaan se so rahe ho? Chakkar kya hai?' Maine usse kaha, 'Kiran [Rao], mujhe pata hai yeh film nahi chalne wali.' Mere andar na excitement hai, na anticipation ki log film dekhenge. Mera dil baith gaya hai ki log yeh film dekhenge. Main khud hi film se khush nahi hoon. Lekin jab producer aur director khush hain, toh main kya kar sakta hoon?
Thugs of Hindostan also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles. The film barely managed to recover its reported Rs 310 crore budget, with a worldwide gross of Rs 335 crore.

Box Office: Maa scores good results in opening weekend, Kajol starrer collects Rs 17.25 crore in 3 day

Maa, starring Kajol in the lead role, is holding up well at the box office. The mytho-horror drama, directed by Vishal Furia, has met with mixed bag reactions, but managed to impress with its folklore and horror factor. Maa clocks Rs 6.50 crore on Day 3, approaches Rs 20 crore mark Bankrolled by Devgn Films and Panorama Studios, Maa debuted with Rs 4.75 crore on its debut day. The movie further witnessed a good jump of 26% and collected Rs 6 crore on Day 2. As per estimates, the mytho-horror drama saw another jump of 10% today and added Rs 6.50 crore to the tally. The total three-day cume of Maa now stands at Rs 17.25 crore net at the Indian box office. Moreover, one cannot ignore that the makers lured the audience with a BUY-TWO-GET-ONE-FREE offer on the tickets. The real test of Maa will begin from Monday onwards. If the movie manages to hold well and register a reasonable drop, it can see a long run at the box office. Maa faces tough competition from Sitaare Zameen Par and F1 (Formula One) Though Maa had better screens than Brad Pitt's F1 (Formula One), it still remained behind. The Kajol starrer also faced a major dent by Aamir Khan's holdover release, Sitaare Zameen Par, which witnessed a 100% growth from its second Friday to second Saturday. It will be interesting to see how Maa performs further on the weekdays. It will have a new competition from next weekend onwards as Anurag Basu's romantic drama, Metro…In Dino, is slated to hit the screens on July 4th. Hera Pheri 3 hit a major roadblock when Paresh Rawal, who played the iconic role of Babu Bhaiya, stepped back from the movie and indulged in a legal war with Producer Akshay Kumar. Things went ugly when Akshay Kumar sent him a legal notice of Rs 25 crore for breaching the contract and leaving the movie in the middle. However, here comes some good news for all Hera Pheri fans! Paresh Rawal returns as Babu Bhaiya in Hera Pheri 3, says things are resolved Paresh Rawal has been hitting the headlines ever since he backed out of Hera Pheri 3. However, things are back on track as the actor has resolved all the issues with Akshay Kumar and the production banner. In a recent podcast at The Himanshu Mehta Show, Paresh Rawal opened up on the infamous controversy and revealed that everything is now in place. He said, "Mera yahi hai ki jab cheez itni zyda logon ko bhaati hai toh you need to be extra careful. It is our responsibility for the audience, kyunki audience baithi hai itna pyaar karti hai. You can't take things for granted. Mehnat karke unko do." (My point is that when something reaches so many people, you need to be extra careful. It is our responsibility towards the audience because the audience is sitting here and loves it so much. You can't take things lightly. Do hard work and deliver.) Further, he mentioned that all issues are resolved. "To mera yahi hai ki bhaiya sab aaye saath me sab mehnat kar, bas aur kuch nahi. Resolved. Hua kuch nahi hai! It is all resolved. (So my point is that Bhaiya, everyone should come together and work hard, nothing else. It is resolved. Nothing has happened! It is all resolved.)" The actor went on to add that Hera Pheri 3 will 100% return to the big screens. He quipped, "Pahle bhi aane hi wali thi, lekin kya hai ki ek dusre ko thoda fine tune karna padta hai. (laughs). First of all, all of them are creative people... Like Priyadarshan hai, Akshay hai yaa Sunil hai, they all are friends for many many years. (It was happening earlier also, but the thing is that one has to fine-tune the other a little. (laughs). First of all, all of them are creative people... Like Priyadarshan, Akshay, or Sunil, they have all been friends for many, many years.) As the OMG actor himself confirmed his return to the franchise. 'I had two small kids...' This actor was once invited to Underworld's party, got scared after he said no, then..., his name is... It's no surprise that the underworld had a major influence over the Hindi film industry during the 1980s and 1990s. During that time, in late 80s, Aamir Khan had a tense encounter with the underworld, receiving an invitation from them to attend their party in Middle East. The actor, who became a renowned star following the release of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak , revealed that how he refused their invitation, and later on got petrified for himself and his family. When Aamir Khan refused underworld's invite for a party While speaking to The Lallantop, Aamir Khan recalled, 'I'd said no to the invite to attend their party in the Middle East, probably Dubai. Some people from the underworld had visited me to invite me to the party,' The actor said that the underworld members kept coming back, trying to convince him. 'They tried a lot. They offered me money and offered to get any work done of my choosing. I still refused to come. They quickly changed their tone and said I'd have to come now because my presence had already been announced, and it was a prestige issue,' he said. When Aamir Khan got scared after rejecting the invitation? Aamir said that things became intense when he made them clear in their final meetup. 'I said, 'You've been meeting for a month and I've been telling you right from the start that I wouldn't come. You're very powerful so you can bash me up, hit me on the head, tie my hands and legs, and take me forcibly wherever you want, but I wouldn't come on my own.' So they stopped contacting me after that.' While he remained adamant, the actor admitted that he was scared- not just for himself but for his family as well. He recalled, 'I had two small kids then. My parents were very concerned. They said, 'What are you doing? They're very dangerous.' So I had said only one thing to them then, 'I want to live my life the way I want. I don't want to go there.' He concluded, 'I was more concerned for the ones close to me.' On the professional front, Aamir Khan is currently seen in Sitaare Zameen Par , the spiritual sequel to its 2007 blockbuster release Taare Zameen Par.
