Kelsea Ballerini Delivers an Acoustic Set to Celebrate ELLE's Women in Music Issue

Elle29-05-2025
To celebrate ELLE's Women in Music issue, some of music's brightest stars came together for an intimate dinner at Chez Margaux in New York City. The evening was co-hosted by ELLE editor-in-chief Nina Garcia and Fendi Chief Communication Officer Cristiana Monfardini, and attendees included Ryan Destiny, Dora Jar, Charlotte Lawrence, Muni Long, Grace VanderWaal, Maria Zardoya of The Marías, Blu DeTiger, Frawley, and more.
'[Our Women in Music issue] is one of my favorites to put together,' Garcia said in her toast at the beginning of the night. 'It's really about identifying and celebrating the women whose music and voices are changing the industry and influencing our culture.'
Guests were then invited to enjoy a family-style meal featuring a delicious assortment of dishes from chef Jean-Georges, including fresh salads, gourmet pizzas, prime tenderloin, crispy French fries, and classic rigatoni pomodoro.
For the perfect nightcap, ELLE's digital cover star Kelsea Ballerini performed a cover of 'Dreams' by Fleetwood Mac. Garcia praised the country singer, who just finished a tour and wrapped up a season of The Voice. 'She's not only talented and beautiful, but also an incredibly gifted musician and writer,' she said. 'We are so happy to have you here.'
A known advocate for women's and LGBTQ+ rights, Ballerini was natural fit for ELLE's Women in Music issue. On her album Patterns, she worked with an all-female songwriting team, and even brought drag queens onstage for her performance at the CMT Music Awards. In her cover story, the country star said, 'I never really was loud about anything for a really long time, because I just had to get my footing. And then I was like, 'At the end of the day, I want the people who listen to my music to know what I stand for and hopefully align with it.''
Dessert brought the evening to a sweet close, featuring rich chocolate cake, fresh fruit, and coffee. Click through the gallery below for exclusive photos from inside the event.

‘The Voice' Gets Rid of One Major Thing for Season 29

'The Voice' Gets Rid of One Major Thing for Season 29 originally appeared on Parade. The Voice revealed exciting news for its 29th season today. It is returning with a new format, and the season will be labeled The Voice: Battle of Champions. As part of the new format, it will only feature three fan-favorite coaches, rather than the usual four: Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine, all of whom have at least one win to their name. Buried in the release was the announcement that the semi-finals, which include the Top 9, and the finale, featuring the Top 4, will be voted on by a new voting block. The group will be comprised of super fans, including former Voice artists, who will be in the audience and also get to vote for their favorite as part of the in-studio audience voting. But bottom line, what that means is that there will be no live shows and no voting by America. Other changes to the format for the season are: 🎤 SIGN UP for our The Voice newsletter to get access to exclusive news, interviews, insider info, sneak peeks & more🎤 Blind Auditions Coaches compete against each other in the 'Triple Turn Competition' (vying for the most three-chair turns), with the winner gaining a special advantage in the next round. The difference for this season is that the teams will be comprised of only 10 artists, rather than 14, making it necessary for the coaches to be pickier in their selections. Battles The coach with the most three-chair turns automatically earns a 'Super Steal' for the Battles. This coveted prize can only be used once and trumps any other coach's attempt to steal, guaranteeing a win. Knockouts Each coach brings back two fan-favorite artists from their teams in previous seasons to compete in an 'In-Season All-Star Competition.' All-stars represent their former coaches as they battle in head-to-head sing-offs. The coach with the most sing-off wins is guaranteed a second finalist in the finale. For this special episode, coaches call upon original Voice coach CeeLo Green to sit in on the competition and determine the winner of each All-Star Showdown. Related: The concept of superfans voting is not new to NBC. It was employed by another competition show, America's Got Talent: The Champions. It remains to be seen how it works for The Voice. The return of Clarkson in one of the red swivel chairs is a plus. She brought a lot of joy to her seasons as a coach, which came to an end when The Kelly Clarkson Show was moved from Los Angeles to filming in New York City. Possibly because of the new format, it became workable for her to juggle her schedule to film both shows concurrently. But before all this happens in Spring 2026, Season 28 of The Voice will return this fall with coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan,Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé. The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock. The Met Wraps Up Fiscal-year 2025 With 5.7 Million Visitors

Having reeled in more than 5.7 million visitors to its two locations The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters for the fiscal year 2025, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has seen more visitors walk through its doors compared to the fiscal year 2024. The Met's overall attendance has ticked up 5 percent since fiscal-year 2024. Tristate-area residents have helped boost the numbers. For the second consecutive year, the turnout among local visitors from New York, Connecticut and New Jersey has exceeded pre-pandemic figures. That has contributed to a 109 percent post-pandemic rebound compared to 2019. For fiscal-year 2025, which ends on June 30, local attendance accounted for 62 percent of the Met's overall visitors. In addition, domestic out-of-state visitors accounted for 23 percent of the foot traffic. Rockefeller wing on May 31 was a winner for the Upper East Side cultural institution. That unveiling resulted in highest single-day attendance since 2017. The museum welcomed 33,700 visitors, and many no doubt headed for the redesigned wing to see the collections of the arts of Africa, the ancient Americas, and Oceania. The $70 million renovation had been a multiyear endeavor. Huastec artwork that was donated by the late fashion designer Mary McFadden, an intrepid traveler for decades, is among the objects. 'We are thrilled by the continued growth of our audiences, particularly across New York City and the surrounding area, with visitors showing incredible enthusiasm for our ambitious programming,' said Max Hollein, the Met's Marina Kellen French director and chief executive officer. 'Whether through our thought-provoking exhibitions, inventive educational initiatives, or wide-ranging digital offerings, the Met provides an array of ways to engage with our collection spanning 5,000 years of art from across time and around the world.'It's worth noting that 40 percent of the Met's fiscal-year guests said they planned their trips to see a specific presentation. Some of the main attractions include the museum's summer blockbuster 'Sargent and Paris,' which has pulled in more than 427,000 visitors to date. There is still a little time to buy tickets for thosewho want to explore John Singer Sargent's early days in Paris from 1874 through the mid-1880s. The exhibition at the Fifth Avenue museum is on view through Aug. 3. Another key exhibition has been the Costume Institute's 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' which has registered more than 291,000 visitors. That fashion extravaganza, which millions associate with the Met Gala, runs through Oct. 26. Some of the Met's other strong suits for fiscal-year 2025 have been 'Caspar David Friedrich: The Soul of Nature' with 300,000 visitors and 'Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300-1350' with 298,000 guests. Interestingly, the last months of two other shows — 'The Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism' and 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' — pulled in 464,000 and 401,000 visitors respectively. The chronically impatient or just highly organized managed to minimize any wait times by taking advantage of the Met's 'more expedited' ways to enter the museum's galleries. Forty percent of the visitors did just that and not just via online ticket sales or scannable membership cards. The Met recently rolled out an online ticketing option for New York State residents to reserve pay-what-you-wish tickets from its site. Of course, like every other museum in the world, the Met is trying to broaden its digital reach. The Met's site had more 27 million-plus visits in fiscal-year 2025, of which 35 percent were from outside the U.S. The museum's social media reach is robust — its Instagram has more 4.5 million followers, the museum's 'X' has more than 4.1 million, its Facebook has passed 2.3 million, its TikTok has more than 1.2 million and the Met's LinkedIn has more than 430,000 followers. Some additions for the museum this year were the debuts of official channels on Chinese-language social media platforms Weibo and WeChat, which have racked up 66,500 and 27,500 followers, respectively.
