Social media reacts to 2027 4-star quarterback Teddy Jarrard committing to Notre Dame

USA Todaya day ago
Notre Dame football got a commitment from its quarterback of the future on Thursday afternoon, as 2027 Georgia 4-star Teddy Jarrard opted for the Blue and Gold.
The Irish have the luxury of looking ahead, as its 2026 class is virtually full with twenty-six current commitments. There are now three verbals in the 2027 cycle, one each on offense, defense and special teams. It's a fantastic base to work off, and with the most important player checked off, Notre Dame's coach staff can now turn its focus to the other positions in the class.
It was a big development for the Irish, and social media acted accordingly. There were numerous post about how huge this was for Notre Dame, and check out the best reactions to Jarrard committing below.
Massive recruiting win
With Jarrard's commitment, there are now just a handful of top quarterbacks off the board in the 2027 cycle, which gives each of those teams, including Notre Dame a leg up no the remaining prospects in the class. The Irish were able to go into SEC enemy territory and pull out a recruiting win, which not many teams are able to do.
Jarrard's stock set to rise?
We've all seen plenty of recruits getting an SEC-bump, but there could be a significant rise in the rankings in the near future for Jarrard. He's done extremely well in the camp circuit this spring and summer, and many have taken notice.
Top-50 overall player according to Tom Lemming
One of the original recruiting guru's, Lemming has seen it all and if he says that Jarrad is a top-50 prospect, then most likely he is. While his current recruiting ranking doesn't reflect that, like Power said above, a significant jump could be in the works. Lemming gives a great breakdown of his skill set, and one that should be getting Notre Dame fans very excited.
An interesting comparison
I haven't gotten a chance to take a dive into Jarrard's film, which I will do tonight, but comparing him to CJ Carr is very interesting. We haven't seen any of the expected Irish starting quarterback at this level, but we are talking about a guy that should be starting in year-two in the program. I don't think many would be complaining if that was the case with Jarrard as well.
The gamble payed off for Notre Dame
Many, including myself, were concerned that Notre Dame had only offered two quarterback in 2027, but all of us worriers were proven wrong. You just need one to commit, and the Irish got a great one in Jarrard. Beating out multiple other College Football Playoff teams is icing on the cake.
The traits are elite
There is one thing that I've noticed when evaluating high school quarterback prospects is that if they are accurate at that level, they will be at the next. It's one of the hardest aspects of the position to teach, and if a player shows those traits early on, most likely they aren't going anywhere. Jarrard completing over 70% of his attempts at a sophomore is exceptional, and we can expect the same when he arrives in South Bend.
The moment Jarrard went Irish
A magical moment for Jarrard and Notre Dame, as the two matched up extremely well and will be together in the coming seasons. It's the culmination of many years of hard work, and the recruits should enjoy the moment, which is exactly what happened.

Michigan defensive end Derrick Moore throws water on Ohio State CFP national title

As if the rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan needed any more gasoline thrown on the fire, it got a little at Big Ten football media days this week. That came on the heels of two players from each side guaranteeing multiple-year victories over the others (Jeremiah Smith was one), in an offseason when we saw the temperature rise to one of the highest levels it ever had after the Buckeyes lost to the Wolverines last fall. The latest comments that will end up on a bulletin board somewhere in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center come from Michigan defensive end Derrick Moore. He was one of the three players on hand for Michigan out in Las Vegas for the annual media days and didn't pull any punches when he was asked how he felt about the Wolverines' arch-rival going on a historic run to win the College Football Playoff national championship after losing for the fourth straight time to Michigan. "I'll congratulate them on the win. But you know it's not a real win if y'all ain't beat us," Moore said when talking to reporters. "I'm gonna congratulate them on their win, but this year, it's gonna be different." He then took it a bit further and even took a bit of credit for the banner Ohio State will hang as a result of the national championship while delivering an underhanded compliment. "If the playoff extension wasn't around, they wouldn't have won the national championship," Moore continued. "We pretty much look at it like, 'Hey man, y'all had an easy little run. We helped y'all along the way. So we pretty much helped y'all build back up.' But like I said, after that game, they dominated everybody that came in front of them. So I've got to give all the credit to them." At this point, the amount of anticipation and vitriol surrounding the game in 2025 can't get much higher unless there are some very, very significant things at stake. There's enough bulletin board material to make a collage out of, so any further comments probably won't amount to much. Can we just do the talking on the field at this point? November 29 is going to be a hoot. Contact/Follow us @BuckeyesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Ohio State news, notes and opinion. Barry Odom aiming to resurrect Purdue football the same way he made UNLV a winning program

Associated Press LAS VEGAS (AP) — Purdue coach Barry Odom isn't concerned that the Boilermakers won just one game last season, or that they were in the 2022 Big Ten championship. He certainly isn't bothered that they've been picked to finish last in the 18-team league this season. 'We'll be defined by what we do,' Odom said Thursday, the last of three Big Ten media days. 'If we take the approach from the day that we got the job, every single day our approach is you get up and make Purdue football better and you find a way to consistently instill those habits in everyone around in the organization. Then by the time that the season rolls around, we'll be ready to be the best versions of ourselves.' After turning around one of the worst programs in college football history, Odom spoke with vigor and confidence about resurrecting a Purdue program that went 5-19 the last two seasons. Odom pulled off the unthinkable at UNLV two seasons ago, turning around a program that annually ranked near the bottom of college football in every aspect, and prior to his arrival, was a combined 29-74 the previous nine seasons. In two seasons under Odom, the Rebels made it to the Mountain West championship twice and and were one win away from advancing to the College Football Playoff last season, when they won 11 games for the first time since 1984 and cracked the AP top 25 rankings for the first time in their 46-year history. Now, he has his sights set on the Boilermakers, who ranked near the bottom of nearly every statistical category, including an offense that gained just 299.3 yards per game (127th nationally) and a defense that allowed 452.7 yards per contest (123rd). After a 49-0 season-opening win against Indiana State, the Boilermakers lost their next 11 games — eight by double digits — including the season finale against in-state rival Indiana, 66-0. With an uncertain depth chart entering camp, and a scarce number of returning starters across all three units, Odom's message has at least one of the program's leaders buying in. 'I mean, I feel like it's sort of intrinsic ... especially as big of a turnover that we had, you have a whole new room of guys and basically a new program,' fourth-year running back Devin Mockobee said. "Having that aspect of coming in and having a fresh start, it's easy for everyone to get on board very fast and be able to build a culture very fast.' If there's anyone who can attest to Odom's approach and wherewithal to improve a program, it's defensive back Tony Grimes, who followed his coach from UNLV to West Lafayette, Indiana. 'Hard, smart and tough,' Grimes described Odom during spring practice. 'How he practices, how he makes us work, his schedule, his routine got us built on ... building calluses, meaning every day we're gonna go hard until we can't go no more. 'He took me in out of the portal when honestly no one really wanted me. He gave me that confidence that I needed back and now I am here what I am today.' It's the same confidence and will to get the best out of players that Odom is ready to instill while bringing life back to the Boilermakers. 'From the day that we got the job, every single day, our approach is you get up and you make Purdue football better,' Odom said. 'You find a way to consistently instill those habits in everyone around the organization. Then by the time that the season rolls around, we'll be ready to be the best versions of ourselves.' ____ AP college football: recommended Item 1 of 3
