Boxing legend Ricky Hatton, 46, to come out of retirement - but misses big announcement in Dubai due to BIZARRE injury suffered at Oasis gig
The former world champion, 46, will face fellow veteran Eisa Al Dah in a middleweight contest on December 2 in Dubai.
It marks Hatton's first professional bout since 2012, when he was stopped by Vyacheslav Senchenko in Manchester.
Hatton did return to the ring for an exhibition against Marco Antonio Barrera in 2022, but this upcoming clash will be fully sanctioned.
Al Dah, also 46, is the United Arab Emirates' first professional boxer, having made his debut in 2007.
Hatton was set to fly to Dubai this week for Sunday night's high-profile launch press conference but was forced to stay home after suffering an eye injury from his designer at the Oasis reunion gig, leaving him unable to travel until it heals.
The Gallagher brothers made their long-awaited reunion this weekend after 16 years apart.
Hatton was famously escorted to the ring by Noel and Liam Gallagher for his 2008 victory over Paulie Malignaggi.
Unable to attend the announcement of the fight in person, Hatton joined the press conference via video call to promote the fight.
He said 'I'm very much looking forward to it myself, to be honest with you.
'What you're trying to do there for boxing in Dubai is fantastic.'
An enthusiastic Al Dah added: 'Trust me, this fight will not be like the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight.
'It will be a true fight, true action. And I will do my best, because everybody in the UAE and the Gulf, they will watch this fight. The place will be sold out and it will be watched around the world.'
Hatton is still regarded as one of Britain's greatest and most beloved boxers, having racked up an incredible 43 straight wins before suffering his first defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr in their 2007 clash for the WBC and The Ring welterweight titles.
During that unbeaten run, Hatton became a multiple-time world champion at super lightweight and also captured a welterweight belt.
His defining night came in June 2005, when he toppled Australia's Kostya Tszyu to claim the IBF and The Ring super lightweight titles in a career-best performance.
After his loss to Mayweather, Hatton bounced back with impressive victories over Juan Lazcano and Paulie Malignaggi, successfully defending his IBO and The Ring super lightweight belts.
However, his reign came to an end in brutal fashion when he was knocked out by Manny Pacquiao in May 2009.
That defeat led to a two-and-a-half-year hiatus from the sport, before Hatton made a comeback in November 2012 against Vyacheslav Senchenko — a return that ended in disappointment as he was stopped in the ninth round.

Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 LIVE RESULTS: Epic trilogy ends in huge controversy AGAIN with majority decision win
KATIE TAYLOR beat Amanda Serrano YET AGAIN as their epic trilogy came to an end with a controversial split decision. In yet another brilliant fight between Taylor and Serrano, the fight was extremely close with both women leaving it all on the canvas. In front of a packed and raucous Madison Square Garden, Taylor made it 3-0 in their rivalry with a split decision which saw one judge score it a draw. The two stars earned an incredible £6.6MILLION ($9m) each for headlining an incredible all-women's card that saw SEVENTEEN world titles up for grabs. 11th Jul 2025, 23:07 By Connor Greaves The stage is set Taylor and Serrano will meet where it all began back in April 2022, Madison Square Garden. Another fight like the first would be a fitting end to a historic trilogy. By Connor Greaves Cameron eyeing Taylor vs Serrano winner English boxer Chantelle Cameron will be looking to set up a meeting with the winner of tonight's main event should she beat the experienced Jessica Camara. Cameron has already achieved something that Serrano has not in defeating Taylor. The 34-year-old stunned the world of boxing when she beat the Bray Bomber by majority decision in May 2023. The pair had a rematch, which Taylor won, but a decisive trilogy bout could be in the making should they both have their arms raised tonight. Speaking about a potential trilogy fight with Taylor, Cameron said: 'I'm told I will fight the winner of Katie versus Amanda, because I'm the WBC interim champion. 'I don't say I'm confident of getting a third fight with Katie though because the trilogy fight with her should have happened a long time ago. I've fought her in Dublin twice and she told me after the second one in the ring that the trilogy fight will happen. 'I thought it was signed and sealed, I agreed the date and venue, and I was actually taking less money for it than the first two fights. But then I got told she wanted an easier fight next and was fighting her mandatory instead of me. 'She didn't want to fight me again and has she changed her mind? Probably not.' 11th Jul 2025, 22:50 By Connor Greaves Tonight's card in FULL Fans are most looking forward to Taylor and Serrano's thrilling trilogy fight. Mike Tyson goads Jake Paul over $1MILLION bet after Katie Taylor beats Amanda Serrano in epic trilogy fight
MIKE TYSON warned Jake Paul he is coming for his $1MILLION winnings... and their dinner date. Last November, Tyson controversially came out of retirement aged 58 to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul. 3 He lost on points over eight shorter two minute rounds as 100 MILLION tuned in to watch on Netflix. On the undercard, over 50m watched Katie Taylor's rematch win over Amanda Serrano which came two years after her initial victory. Paul - who promotes Serrano - put $1m (£750,000) up in a wager against Tyson - who was backing Taylor. But Iron Mike insisted he must also be taken out for dinner by multimillionaire Paul if he won. And his bet paid off after Taylor closed out her trilogy series with a hat-trick of wins over her great rival Serrano. Tyson, now 59, immediately posted online: "Congrats to @KatieTaylor and @Serranosisters on the trilogy fight on Netflix. "@jakepaul see you at dinner to collect my million!" Taylor took a majority-decision and said: "I just want to thank Amanda Serrano as well, what an amazing fighter, we've made history here. 'I thought I boxed very smart, very well. She wasn't catching me with much. 'It was obviously very, very close. Just thank God my hand was raised. I planned to come in here and be disciplined and smart. 'I executed the game plan very well. Total respect for Amanda, what a warrior. I love you all, I love my country. Thank you so much.' Serrano, 36, said: 'We tried something different, it was all about working smarter, not harder. 'I tried to keep my distance because apparently it didn't worth the first two fights. So we tried to stick with the long punches and it just wasn't enough. 'I don't know, I have to go back and watch it. My team told me they think I won, I'm going to believe what they tell me. 'I was really trying to apply what they were telling me. I really want to support every single one of you for coming out and supporting me and women's boxing. 'What an amazing night for all of us women. I'm crying at the support, thanks to all of you. 'Thank you Jake Paul, you've changed my life. Thank you Netflix for showcasing us warriors. 'Thank you Katie Taylor for an incredible 30 rounds, it's been a true honour.' 3
