Nashik's Dwarka junction to be developed like Kalamboli junction
The Kalamboli junction in Navi Mumbai is currently being upgraded jointly by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC). The project entails constructing eight flyover arms and two underpasses to streamline traffic flow.
The decision on Dwarka junction was made at a meeting in Nagpur chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari.
The meeting also resolved to widen and strengthen all roads leading to Nashik in anticipation of increased traffic during the Kumbh Mela. MLA Devynani Pharande, representatives from NHAI, and MSIDC attended the Nagpur meeting focused on infrastructure works in Nashik ahead of the Kumbh Mela.
Pharande said, "The project will be completed in two phases by MSIDC. The corporation will conduct a survey and prepare a detailed project report.

A detailed project report will be prepared, and funding will be allocated shortly. Nashik experiences traffic from Mumbai, Dhule, Gujarat, Palghar, Pune, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar areas.
The influx of devotees from these routes is significant during the Kumbh Mela.
In addition to strengthening and widening these roads, connecting roads will also be enhanced.
Union minister Gadkari has, in principle, approved works on nearly all roads, with funds to be allocated soon. The Nashik-Trimbak Road will be expanded from a four-lane to a six-lane road.

NHAI's annual pass could reduce cost of travel on highways for private vehicles
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced an annual pass that will allow those using private vehicles to take 200 trips a year on national highways and expressways. By paying ₹3,000, one can make trips for one year or make 200 trips (whichever comes first) without the need to recharge. Virender Sambyal, Regional Officer, NHAI, Chennai, said that it would be applicable only to private cars, jeeps, and vans. 'At toll plazas on expressways, State Highways managed by State governments or local bodies, and parking lots and malls, the regular Fastag will continue to operate,' he said. 'The annual pass, which will come into force on August 15, can be activated only through the Rajmargyatra mobile app or on the NHAI website. It will be activated on the existing Fastag ID,' he said. Each time a vehicle crosses a toll plaza, it will be counted as one trip. For example, if a person takes a private vehicle from Chennai to Tiruchi, it will be counted as seven trips, as there are seven toll plazas on that stretch. A round trip would be counted as 14 trips. Under Fastag, a return trip to Tiruchi would cost ₹990 and 10 return trips would cost ₹9,900. With this annual pass, it would only take 140 trips and a potential saving of up to ₹6,900. Once the 200 trips are over, the users can recharge.

CM: Dedicated Maha Agency Soon To Tackle Investor Fraud Cases
Nagpur: Maharashtra govt will create a specialized investigation mechanism to focus solely on investor fraud cases, announced chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday while replying to a discussion in the assembly on the alleged fraud by Maitreya Group of Companies, a matter brought up by Sangamner MLA Amol Khatal. Highlighting the increasing number of financial scams affecting small and medium investors across the state, Fadnavis said the new unit will provide the police with technical, legal, and property valuation expertise to ensure timely and effective action. "These crimes are growing rapidly, and the police alone cannot manage the complexity of asset tracing and recovery. A specialized investigation wing will be established to support law enforcement," he said. The proposed agency will consist of financial analysts, legal experts, and property valuation professionals. Its main role will be to work with the police after FIRs are filed, assisting in tracing both movable and immovable assets, evaluating them, initiating seizure under MPID (Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors) Act, and facilitating auction and recovery proceedings. "While we already have the MPID Act to protect depositors, its implementation has produced limited results," Fadnavis noted. "The new agency will ensure the law is enforced more effectively and that asset recovery processes aren't delayed due to lack of technical or legal support," he said. The CM also said that the govt is reviewing penal structure under the MPID Act to increase punishments and financial penalties for economic offences. "We are considering amendments to increase both the duration of imprisonment and the amount of fine imposed in such cases," he added. The announcement came in response to supplementary questions raised by legislators Prakash Solunke and senior BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar, who supported the need for a systemic crackdown on fraud targeting investors. Over the past few years, Maharashtra has witnessed a surge in deposit frauds, with several high-profile cases dragging on due to delays in identifying and liquidating assets. Officials say current systems lack the domain expertise and infrastructure to follow through complex financial investigations, leaving victims without relief for years. The proposed agency, expected to operate under home or finance department, will be empowered to provide end-to-end assistance in enforcement — from forensic financial audits to auction of seized assets.

Pimpri Chinchwad civic body demolishes slums near Kala Khadak for road widening to ease Hinjewadi IT Park traffic
Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive near Kala Khadak to facilitate the widening of a road connecting Hinjewadi IT Park. Around 46,000 square feet of encroachments, including 96 slum hutments, commercial shops, and brick structures, which were obstructing the expansion of the road to 45 metres, were cleared. A civic official said the Kala Khadak area was one of the key bottlenecks contributing to traffic congestion around Bhumkar Chowk and Dange Chowk, which are major access points to the IT park. The exercise covered a 250-metre stretch, extending up to 16 metres from the main road. The move followed a meeting chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis last week in Mumbai, where officials and representatives of the IT employees discussed traffic snarl and infrastructure issues. The widening of the road connecting Aundh BRTS Road to Y Junction at Hinjewadi remains incomplete at three locations, including Kala Khadak, due to encroachments. Civic officials clarified that all the 96 affected slum dwellers are beneficiaries of a scheme by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority and will soon be relocated to a nearby project. Additional municipal commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil told TOI: "We have temporarily shifted these families to Kiwale, where accommodation has been arranged." Debris will be removed soon, and road-widening work will begin on Wednesday, Patil said. "The widening will help ease congestion not only towards Hinjewadi IT Park but also along the road connecting Phoenix Mall and adjoining areas," he added. "This action has freed up the full corridor from Dange Chowk and Bhumkar Chowk to Hinjewadi, which will significantly improve the traffic flow," he said. Municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh said, "We have intensified actions against illegal structures across the city. Officials have been instructed to demolish on priority any unauthorised structures obstructing infrastructure projects." Daily commuters welcomed the move and said that the widening of the road will significantly reduce congestion. Dattatray Deshmukh, chairman of the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation, said, "Earlier it used to take 15-20 minutes just to cross the 500-metre stretch near Kala Khadak. Clearing these encroachments is a relief, but it is equally important to expedite the road widening to achieve real improvement. Many IT professionals rely on this route every day to reach their offices."
