‘Future Summer' programme launched at UTAS-Al Musannah

MUSANNAH: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Al Musannah) launched its annual summer initiative titled 'Summer of the Future,' organised by the Department of Continuing Education and Community Service. The programme reflects the university's ongoing commitment to bridging academic learning with real-world application while reinforcing its role in shaping an innovative, knowledge-driven society.
Designed to make productive use of the summer break, the programme offers a wide array of interactive workshops and training courses aimed at enhancing participants' knowledge and skills across various domains. These include technology, science, innovation, critical thinking, grammar, leadership, entrepreneurship and languages.
Featuring around 45 training sessions led by academic professionals and industry experts, the initiative is open to the university community, employees from both public and private sectors and members of the wider public seeking personal and professional growth.
Dr Khalifa bin Salim al Hatmi, Head of the Department of Continuing Education and Community Service, highlighted the university's vision for community engagement and capacity building.
'We are pleased to launch the 'Summer of the Future' programme, which runs until mid-August 2025. It is tailored for students, graduates, professionals, and anyone eager to enhance their skills and explore new paths for personal and professional development,' he stated.
The programme's opening day witnessed strong participation, with nearly 100 attendees joining the Beginner English Skills Workshop and a specialised IELTS preparation course. Participants were grouped based on their proficiency levels to ensure personalised and effective learning experiences.
As one of UTAS-Al Musannah's flagship annual initiatives, 'Summer of the Future' underscores the university's dedication to empowering the community, promoting innovation, and fostering a collaborative and dynamic learning environment.

OJT partners, UTAS graduates feted

MUSSANAH: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Al Mussanah (UTAS-Al Mussanah), through its Training and Career Guidance Center, hosted the second graduates gathering and recognition ceremony on June 19. Held under the auspices of Dr Munia bint Mohammed al Farsiyah, Deputy Assistant Vice-Chancellor for E-Systems and Student Services, the event recognised key partner institutions involved in the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Programme for the 2024-2025 academic year. A total of 20 public and private sector institutions were honoured for their support in providing students with practical, real-world training experiences. Notably, the Royal Navy of Oman received special recognition for training over 100 students across the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years, establishing itself as one of the university's most active OJT partners. The gathering also brought together UTAS graduates currently employed at the Al Mussanah campus. The event provided a vibrant and engaging atmosphere, filled with graduate-led activities and entertainment that encouraged networking and connection among attendees. In her address, Dr Al Farsi lauded the contributions of the partner institutions and stressed the importance of strengthening ties with the labour market to enhance student preparedness and align with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of commemorative plaques and certificates of appreciation, reaffirming the university's commitment to building impactful partnerships and advancing training initiatives in step with national development goals.
