A beloved face from the original Balamory crew has excitedly confirmed their return to the much-loved pre-school series on CBeebies. This comes after the BBC's announcement that the show is set for a "reboot" with a fresh "revamp".
The nostalgic wave hit fans last year when it was revealed that Balamory would make a comeback over two decades after its final episode. The broadcaster shared that viewers could anticipate the reboot's arrival in 2026, marking the start of two newly commissioned series.
The BAFTA-winning programme first graced our screens on the BBC children's channel back in 2002, capturing the hearts of many with tales from the fictional island community off Scotland's shores. After four successful series, the show wrapped up its storytelling in 2005.
Among the cherished cast was Julie Wilson Nimmo, now 53, who portrayed the ever-engaging Miss Hoolie. As the narrator and a nursery teacher, Miss Hoolie was central to the show's charm and narrative drive.

Julie has since taken to social media to confirm her involvement in the upcoming Balamory series. In a candid exchange on Instagram, following a post about her yoga activities, a fan queried: "Are you going to be in Balamory reboot?" To which Julie, having liked the comment, gave a succinct and affirmative reply: "Yup."
The BBC previously hinted that the upcoming series would feature familiar faces from the celebrated show alongside a slew of fresh Balamory residents, although no casting specifics were released at that time.
The quaint village of Tobermory served as the scenic backdrop for Balamory's original filming. It was declared last year that the fresh instalments could once again grace the same locale or perhaps a new setting in Scotland, with Rothesay being considered at the moment.
On a nostalgic return to Tobermory during her BBC Scotland programme Jules and Greg's Wild Swim, where she explored wild swimming spots with spouse Greg Hemphill, Julie expressed sentimental sentiments.

As she entered the charming village on the documentary, which aired last year, she disclosed to Greg: "This is magical."
Her emotions ran high as she confessed: "I actually feel really emotional."
Julie, who subsequently enjoyed photo opportunities with admirers, emoted: "I'm pure welling up."
Speaking on the anticipated revival, Julie enthused: "It's the craziest and best news ever that Balamory is coming back. I seriously think this is bigger than the Oasis reunion. Everyone I know loves the show and has been missing it."
In its initial announcement regarding the revamp last year, the BBC noted that the forthcoming series will unfold in the fictional town of Balamory, revolving around a nursery school and its educator, and mentioned an interest in revisiting "some" of the original ensemble, together with introducing "a host of new faces".
Kate Morton, Head of Commissioning 0-6 for BBC Children's and Education, remarked: "A whole new generation will discover and enjoy Balamory as we bring families together with this new update for CBeebies. It will be a real treat for parents who grew up with the show to now introduce their little ones to the brightly coloured world getting to know a host of old and new characters together."

She then stormed into round three for the second year running after a dominant and devastating victory over Viktoriya Tomova on Court No 3. Next up, Sonay is taking on French qualifier Diane Parry on Friday, July 4, 2025. Sonay has £152,000 in her back pocket but if she wins two sets, she will add an extra £68,000 to her bank balance. The British No.3 said: 'Obviously tennis is super expensive. 'When I was growing up, I kind of did quite a lot of tournaments on my own because I couldn't afford to pay a coach week-in, week-out. 'It helped me develop as a teenager, grow up super fast, made me much more mature. I held myself accountable to a lot of things. 'The LTA helped me massively. It came at exactly the right time. It was when I started to come on the scene and was putting together a few good wins consistently. 'They really helped to give me all the equipment and access to everything I needed to develop as well. 'I've shot up the rankings. My game style really rocketed. 'I was out quite a lot of years injured as a teenager. 'I didn't pick up a racquet for a couple years. I was kind of a bit inconsistent as I was going through my teenage years.' Sonay was born in London, but grew up in Brighton with her family. Who is Luke Ogbourn? Luke Ogbourn is a British bodybuilder and strongman. He is best known for being in a relationship with tennis ace Sonay Kartal. Luke has been a visible and vocal supporter of Sonay, particularly during her impressive Wimbledon run last year and her first WTA singles title win at the Jasmin Open, also in 2024. Per his Instagram bio, Luke took home the silver medal at the United Kingdom's Strongest Man U23 competition in 2024, before going one better and securing gold at Iron Beasts 2024. 4 Luke Ogbourn won Iron Beasts 2024 Credit: Instagram @luke_ogbourn His profile regularly featured gym routines, rugby matches and highlights from his strongman competitions — but as of July 4, 2025, it seems to have been removed. The relationship between Sonay and Luke has been public since at least November 2023, when their first photo together appeared on Ogbourn's Instagram. Their relationship drew more attention during Wimbledon 2024 — Luke supported Sonay online and in person, sharing affectionate messages and congratulating her after matches. Despite both being athletes, Sonay said that they do not train together, telling the Express in 2024 that they "don't gym together at all". She added: 'I don't lift cars and pull cars and things like that. "Tennis is very specific training whereas he is just lifting as much weight as possibly as physically you can.' However, it is unclear whether they remain an item — Luke hasn't been spotted at Wimbledon this year. All traces of their relationship seem to have totally disappeared from social media.

Tyson Fury and Jake Paul's text messages leaked with money brother Tommy has been offered for rematch revealed But earlier this week, he roared: I want my revenge (on Usyk) in England. "That's all I want, a fair shout. And I don't believe I've got a fair shout the last two times. "That's the one I want but if I don't get that then it will be Joshua, the biggest British fight that will ever happen. "It would break all records and sell out 100,000 at Wembley in an hour. "It's a fight that I think can happen for sure if I decide to come back and the deal's right." Discussing a third option of taking on Dubiois, Fury added: "If I was to return and fight Dubois, he wouldn't land a glove on me, it would be a one-sided beatdown. "But I wish him luck in his fight against Usyk, but I would annihilate him." Usyk will be back in action on July 19, taking on IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois at Wembley for all the heavyweight marbles.
