Oklahoma Sooners projected to land talented 2026 Defensive Tackle
The Oklahoma Sooners appear to be on the verge of landing their first defensive commitment of the 2026 recruiting class. Brian Harris, a defensive tackle prospect out of Jacksonville, Fla. is set to announce his commitment on May 23.
Over a week away from his commitment ceremony, On3 Director of National Recruiting Steve Wiltfong issued an On3 prediction favoring the Oklahoma Sooners in Harris' recruitment.
Harris is a three-star defensive tackle prospect but is currently listed at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds. He has offers from a strong group of college programs, including Michigan, Alabama, Ole Miss, Colorado, Auburn, West Virginia, and Penn State.
He was previously in Norman for Oklahoma's Future Freaks weekend at the beginning of March and will be in Norman for an official visit on June 6.
Back in March he was named the UA Next Orlando MVP for his work at the camp.
As a player, Harris has really good size for the defensive line. What jumps off the screen the most is his quickness and the force with which he plays. He's a violent player and blends a physical playing style with really good athleticism for a guy nearly 300 pounds. For Mandarin High, he lined up as a defensive end in three-man fronts a lot, showing off the ability to get around the corner to attack quarterbacks. He does a great job in backside pursuit, displaying a strong motor to get down the line and chase the running back down from behind. He shows a good understanding of playing with angles and using his arm-length to get around offensive linemen.
Here's what Harris told Rivals' John Garcia back on May 10. "OU has great potential and great consistency when it comes to coaches and communication with me. They see me as a top priority guy on their board and that speaks volumes for me."
The Oklahoma Sooners appear to be close to earning a commitment from a talented and underrated prospect in the 2026 class. Brian Harris will be a difference-maker at the collegiate level and could even be a day-one contributor.

Jimmy Horn Jr. turning heads at Panthers training camp with his speed and toughness
Colorado football currently has four receivers on NFL training camp rosters who were on the team last season. Other than the Jaguars' Travis Hunter, the standout has been Carolina Panthers rookie Jimmy Horn Jr. Horn was a sixth-round pick by the Panthers in the 2025 NFL draft, but after a fantastic offseason, he is looking like a steal of the draft. With his speed and toughness, Horn is everything a team would want out of a sixth-round receiver. In a recent mock scrimmage at Bank of America Stadium, Horn impressed once again, scoring the first touchdown for the second team offense. Horn was in motion before the snap and then snuck underneath, and quarterback Andy Dalton found him for an easy walk into the endzone. While it was not a typical go-ball that the speedy Horn should see plenty of this season, it was a play that Colorado ran a ton with Horn. Get him the ball in space and let his open-field ability do the rest. Panthers head coach Dave Canales has loved what he has seen from the rookie receiver so far. "I think it's the energy he plays with," said Canales to "He doesn't quit on routes, he continues after the normal part of the protection he can count on, he continues to find space and play fast, and, it's a credit to his fitness, but it's also a credit to just the energy that he puts out there, that you want to throw to him." While sixth-round picks are far from guaranteed to make the final 53-man roster, Horn's performances through the offseason have made it almost a forgone conclusion that he makes Carolina's final group. Isaiah Hartenstein returns to Germany with Larry O'Brien trophy
Now that it's August, the NBA has entered the driest part of its calendar. The next two months forecast a desert as everybody in the league heads to vacation. The offseason is over and rosters are set. Before teams start the 2025-26 season marathon, they'll enjoy some downtime. For the Oklahoma City Thunder, that includes parading around their NBA championship. They had one of the greatest seasons ever with a historic 68-14 regular-season campaign. That dominance translated in the playoffs to a Larry O'Brien trophy. Now that they won a ring, Thunder players have scattered across the globe to celebrate with their hometowns. Isaiah Hartenstein did that when he went back to Germany. He kicked off his inaugural "IHart Fest!" weekend event. It included a basketball clinic, dunk contest and tournament. Hartenstein also brought home the Larry O'Brien trophy. It's always fun to follow the journey of the NBA champion. Players go back to their friends and family to flex the prestigious trophy. The 27-year-old previously talked about being excited to return to Germany with it. The Thunder couldn't have won a championship without Hartenstein. He was a key player in their title run. He enjoyed a career season with 11.2 points and 10.7 rebounds. The double-double machine was mostly a starter in OKC's playoffs. Hartenstein hopes for similar success in his second season on the Thunder. They will enter the 2025-26 season as a popular pick to repeat as NBA champions. If anybody can pull that off, it's one of the greatest teams ever running it back with mostly the same roster.
