Texas A&M receives prediction to land elite 2027 4-star QB out of Georgia
Texas A&M's quarterback future presents an interesting discussion in today's transfer portal age, as 2025 starting QB Marcel Reed will need to succeed this season to continue in his role, while the depth chart includes redshirt freshman Miles O'Neill, who looks like the next man in line if Reed fails to deliver. However, 2026 four-star commit Helaman Casuga, who was one of the top performers during On3's Elite 11 event last week, looks like the future starter after Reed and O'Neill, so looking ahead to the 2027 cycle, coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein have their eyes on four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson, who is one his way to becoming a five-star prospect by this time next year. After landing in his top-five program list this week, Johnson is down to Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Florida State, and Texas A&M. According to a source, Johnson and Collin Klein have developed a strong relationship based on what the Valdosta, Georgia native could do in his offense. On Saturday, it was revealed that Rivals recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman has predicted that Texas A&M will land Jayce Johnson, who is expected to announce his commitment on August 3. This isn't a shock given the staff's closeness to his development, combined with Elko's recruiting pipeline in Georgia, which features three high-ranking 2026 commits from the Peach State. Set to enter his all-important junior season at Lowndes High School, Johnson made his mark during his 2024 sophomore season after throwing for 1,799 yards, 16 touchdowns, and three interceptions, paired with over 300 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. According to Rivals, Johnson is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 5th-ranked quarterback, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia. Devin Fitzgerald, a Notre Dame ‘26 target, named as a top performer during OT7's first day
Notre Dame football has more than a few wide receiver targets they are going after in the 2026 class, one of them being Devin Fitzgerald, son of legend Larry. The younger Fitzgerald is getting close to announcing his decision, as a July 5th date has been scheduled. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 195-pound prospect isn't taking the summer lightly, as he's currently participating in the OT7 Championships. His performance on day-one stood out, as he's currently was named as the No. 10 performer by On3 from the initial day of the tournament. It's great to see his name among the best, as he's criminally underrated by being the No. 488 overall prospect in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. Fitzgerald will pick one of Notre Dame, Stanford, Clemson or UCLA when he makes his decision in about a week, and it looks like the Irish have a leg up and will land the talented wide receiver.

Oklahoma football picks up commitment from four-star lineman Deacon Schmitt
The Oklahoma football team picked up a major piece of the Class of 2026 on Saturday as offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt announced his commitment to the Sooners on social media. Schmitt, the top-ranked player in the state of Colorado in both On3 and 247Sports' rankings. He is a composite four-star recruit who held offers 21 power-conference schools, though he had finalized to OU, Colorado and Alabama entering Saturday. Schmitt is the second offensive lineman in coach Brent Venables' 2026 class, joining composite four-star recruit Noah Best from Texas. He's also the 10th pick-up for the Sooners since the beginning of June with his commitment coming a day after the Sooners lost out on the nation's No. 4 junior-college player, Josiah Jefferson, brother of ex-OU safety Tony Jefferson. OU now has 14 players in the class, which entered Saturday ranked 22nd in On3's rankings and 43rd in 247Sports' rankings. Schmitt's commitment will almost certainly boost both. During his announcement, Schmitt said Oklahoma "definitely feels like home." The mark was pointed because the University of Colorado is less than 45 minutes' drive from Schmitt's home town of Windsor, Colorado. Schmitt also remarked about the differences between Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders and Venables, plus offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh. "He's my kind of coach," Schmitt said. "The kind of coach I need." .

Indiana basketball gets verbal commitment from Prince-Alexander Moody. What to know
New Indiana basketball coach Darian DeVries has his first commitment from the Class of 2026. Four-star guard Prince-Alexander Moody verbally committed to IU on June 27. Moody is from Maryland and attends Bishop McNamara. "I'm blessed to continue this journey with the cream and crimson — I'm a Hoosier!" he posted on Instagram. Here is what you should know about Moody. Prince-Alexander Moody is listed at 6-4. Prince-Alexander is rated No. 104 nationally, the No. 27 shooting guard and the No. 5 recruit in Maryland per On3's industry rankings. In an interview with On3's Joe Tipton, Moody explained why he committed to Indiana: "I chose them (Indiana) because it immediately felt like home. At the airport today, I didn't even want to leave to be honest. DRoc (Darian DeVries) is amazing. Me and him created a bond that's crazy. I love him and he loves me. And the man that started it all was Kenny (Johnson). He's been family since I met him and has been recruiting me since 7th grade. He changed my life basically. The whole Indiana coaching staff is great. The university is great. Bloomington is the most peaceful place I've ever been to. They're great in academics and I can workout whenever I want. Michigan football earns prediction for 5-star EDGE Carter Meadows in 2026
Michigan football continues to be on a recruiting heater, having received two commitments on Friday evening with plenty more to come. And now it appears that the Wolverines won't just add to the class, they'll potentially get a top overall prospect. The final official visit weekend of the summer cycle, tabbed Victors Weekend, saw some top-tier talent come through Ann Arbor. None bigger than 2026 Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga five-star edge rusher Carter Meadows, the 6-foot-6.5, 225-pound talent rated as the sixth-best player in the country, per On3. It's been a battle with several schools, namely Ohio State, but there's now a prediction that the maize and blue will win out. On Saturday morning, On3's Steve Wiltfong put in a prediction indicating that Meadows will wear a winged helmet when all is said and done. Meadows does not yet have a commitment date, so there's no clear idea of the timeline. Could he up and decide to shut things down at his leisure? It's certainly possible. The scouting report from 247Sports' Andrew Ivins: Spider-like pass rusher with exceptional physical specs, but one where the sack total has yet to match the big-league potential. Can give opposing offensive tackles fits just with his stride length as he can run the arc and right into the quarterback. Has spent much of prep career attacking from a 5-technique in a four-man front. Wins more times than not with his top-flight athleticism as he pairs adequate get-off with slippery inside-outside agility, but further technical development will dictate pressure rate on Saturdays and beyond as he's got the levers to chop and swipe his way around the corner like few others. Makes his fair share of stops in backside pursuit with his closing speed, but has to get better at crushing blocks and holding his turf if he's going to make a living as an every-down defender. Should be viewed as a high-upside edge player that has a chance to develop into an absolute game-wrecker at the Power Four level and then an early-round NFL Draft pick if he can soak up coaching and embrace the weight room. Might be worth a look in a hybrid off-the-ball role as spatial awareness fostered on the basketball court allows him to drop into zones and affect passing lanes. Here is the currently committed class, ranked No. 11 by both On3 and 247Sports, as of Friday evening: Michigan currently has two edge rushers committed in four-star McHale Blade and three-star Tariq Boney. The Wolverines may take up to four this cycle with Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork four-star Julian Walker also in strong contention.
