ONMT Launches Football-Focused Roadshow Ahead of AFCON 2025

Morocco World20-06-2025
Rabat – In the lead-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Morocco has launched a European tour to present itself as the host of Africa's biggest football event, as well as a country where sport, culture, and tourism intersect with purpose.
From June 16-23, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is leading a five-city roadshow under the banner 'Morocco, Land of Football.'
The campaign stops in Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Milan, five European hubs where the appetite for football runs deep and connections to Morocco are strong.
At the heart of this tour lies the vision that Morocco is more than a mere destination, but instead is a proud, future-facing country anchored in its African identity and football culture.
With AFCON 2025 on the horizon, the campaign seeks to draw attention to Morocco's preparations and its ability to deliver a world-class event rooted in hospitality, modernity, and passion for the game.
'Morocco is ready to welcome Africa,' said ONMT Director General Achraf Fayda in a statement.
'This roadshow tells the story of a country proud of its roots, united by football, and committed to offering something greater than a tournament. We want people to feel the experience of AFCON 2025 before they even arrive.'
The tour reflects a broader effort launched through a strategic agreement between ONMT and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), signed earlier this year.
Throughout the tour, Moroccan officials will meet with European travel experts, sports industry professionals, and media figures.
More than 100 travel agents and tour operators join the gathering in each stop, alongside African tourism specialists.
By putting forward its infrastructure, its youth, and its welcoming spirit, Morocco positions itself as more than a host. It proposes a shared African narrative, ambitious, inclusive, and rooted in real partnerships.
This roadshow etches one of the key moments in Morocco's buildup to AFCON 2025.
Morocco will also co-host the most anticipated FIFA 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. Tags: AFCON 2025FootballFRMFMoroccoONMT

Born Winners unveiled as official slogan for Women's CAN 2024 in Morocco

«Born Winners» has been announced as the official slogan for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the slogan on Tuesday, highlighting its aim to «honor African women who are at the heart of football across the continent». «Bold and inspiring, 'Born Winners' is more than just a rallying cry—it's a statement of identity», CAF said. «It celebrates the spirit of African women, who embody a culture of triumph—on the pitch, in society, and in every sphere of life». «Whether they are players, coaches, officials, supporters, or media trailblazers, African women are not just part of the game—they lead it. With passion and determination, they challenge norms, break down barriers, and light the way for future generations», the statement added. According to CAF, the slogan reflects the resilience and drive of African women that extends far beyond football. The 2024 edition of WAFCON, it says, «celebrates this innate energy to overcome obstacles, redefine roles, and inspire excellence».

ONMT, China Eastern Airlines Sign Agreement to Boost Morocco's Appeal in Chinese Market

Rabat – The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and the airline China Eastern Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday in Rabat, confirming the growing strategic importance of the Asian market in Morocco. Minister of Tourism Fatim Zahra Ammor, ONMT Director General Achraf Fayda and China Eastern Airlines President Wang Zhinqing chaired the signing ceremony. The partnership includes a marketing strategy as well as joining actions, press trips, and seeking to boost Morocco's appeal as a premier tourist destination in the Chinese market. The agreement also aims to optimize air connections to Morocco. The Minister of Tourism emphasized the importance of the partnership, stressing the country's ambition to position itself as an exceptional destination for travelers from across the world. 'With China Eastern, we are strengthening our presence in Asia and reaffirming our diversification strategy,' Ammor said. Fayda also highlighted the importance of the agreement, noting that the cooperation is based on a long-term, ambitious vision for tourism development. ONMT aims to attract at least one million Chinese tourists by 2030. 'His partnership with China Eastern reflects our ability to forge strategic alliances with major players in global air transport,' Fayda added, noting ONMT's commitment to opening Morocco to the most dynamic and demanding markets. The signing of the partnership follows China Eastern's launch of the Shanghai-Casablanca air route via Marseille in January 2025. In October, a direct route will also be launched with a frequency of three flights per week. With this new air route, Casablanca will be connected to China's main outbound tourism hub, in addition to the direct Beijing-Casablanca line operated by Royal Air Maroc. Tags: Business TourismChina
