Sky giving free WiFi upgrade that will boost connection for millions of homes
If you're a Sky Broadband customer, you might be in for a treat when it comes to your internet connection. The UK Internet Service Provider (ISP) has announced a handy upgrade that will ensure your most-used devices get the fastest download speeds.
The new feature, called Device Priority, does exactly what it claims: it prioritises certain phones, laptops, and tablets over other devices.
In practical terms, this means that if you're on an important video call with the office, you can set your laptop to receive the best connection. So, even if the kids start downloading games on their PlayStation consoles, your video call won't start stuttering.
"Whether it's wearable tech, home appliances, working from home, 4K streaming or gaming, by prioritising household devices, people can get the most out of their WiFi," Sky explained in an email to the Express.
"Other devices will stay active, but the prioritised device will get the best performance."
This upgrade is particularly useful, as Sky notes that people are now using more connected devices than ever at home, with the UK average standing at 21 smart devices per household.
Many of these devices require large amounts of data to function optimally, and this system should help reduce conflicts and potentially even prevent a few arguments.
So, who's eligible for this boost, and how can you activate it? It has been announced that customers with Sky's WiFi Max service can utilise Device Priority from today at no additional charge.
If you're a WiFi Max user, you'll locate the settings in the MySky App. Once activated, you will have the ability to prioritise a device in your home for up to 8 hours.
This new feature of Sky Broadband's WiFi Max joins other aspects of this service such as Sky's WiFi guarantee, advanced security, parental controls, convenient engineer visits, and Sky Mobile integration.
Not got this perk? It can be added for a monthly fee of £4.
Sky isn't only a major broadband and TV provider, it also stocks a wide array of tech gadgets, with many of these deals including free gifts for customers.
Right now, Sky is giving a free Samsung tablet to people who do one thing. The UK mobile network is gifting customers a feature-rich Galaxy Tab A9+, valued at £259, absolutely free.
You might be pondering what the catch is. Obviously, Sky isn't just handing out these devices without expecting something in return.
To claim, all you need to do is purchase a Galaxy S25 smartphone on contract, and you'll receive the Tab A9+ as a bonus.
Sky Mobile prices for this top-tier phone start from a mere £36 per month, which includes unlimited calls, texts and 3GB of data.

Forget the iPhone 17 - this iPhone 16e deal by Sky is not to be ignored
The iPhone 17 rumours are swirling around but for those that don't need the best Apple has, this iPhone 16e deal is worth looking at The iPhone 17 is looming in the distance with plenty of rumours and leaks already in the wild. It appears that Apple is going to massively shake up the design of the phone and speculation there could be a new iPhone 17 Air on the way. But as many of us know, these newly designed iPhones will probably cost an arm and a leg to buy on release. Instead, we've found a deal for those who want all the utility of an iPhone at a much cheaper price. The iPhone 16e is Apple's newest budget handset, incorporating the great parts of an iPhone 16 but at a cheaper price. Sky has dropped the monthly price of the device to £18 a month for payday. For £18 a month, shoppers will get a 6.1‑inch Super Retina XDR display, long battery life, the A18 chip onboard and a 48MP camera to take all the photos Apple fans could ever want. It's basically a trimmed down iPhone 16, but at a cheaper price with some of the best parts of the iPhone. And for those looking for a new mobile, there are some good options out there. For those who want a top-of-the-range flagship, the newest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 could be an option, and prices kick off at £44.99 a month. Grab the iPhone 16e for £18 a month thanks to cheap Sky deal £599 £18/a month Sky GET DEAL Product Description Alternatively, there are always Apple's devices as well. Giffgaff offers the newer iPhone 16 Pro for £24 per month, though there's a slightly higher initial cost of £25 upfront, allowing shoppers to split the price into smaller payments. Apple iPhone 16e buyers and reviewers have also been glowing in their reviews. One reviewer said: "I upgraded from my old iPhone and wow what a difference. The screen is edge to edge, and the battery capacity is impressive. Well worth the cost as it's the cheapest iPhone that has been produced in some time." Another shopper simply said: "Very impressed with battery life on this phone." However, one user did note: "The phone is ideal for my needs, long life on battery. Although I did need to buy an adapter to charge and will also need one to use my non wireless earphones." Our tech experts also reviewed the iPhone 16e on the Daily Express when it released and noted just how great the phone was - with all the premium features of an iPhone 16 without the big cost. Tech editor Dave Snelling said: "Apple's new iPhone 16e should definitely not be ignored. This is a great smartphone that packs quite a punch for a much cheaper price than its siblings. "No, it doesn't get all of the features found on the iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro, but if things such as Camera Control and MagSafe don't really bother you, then this is a solid device to consider. What you do get is a beautifully made phone that is built for the future and the next generation of Apple Intelligence updates." He did state the iPhone 16e isn't a complete iPhone - and it's something Apple fans should consider. He added: "Just be aware that its lower cost means fewer features. You'll need to decide what really matters to you and what compromises you are prepared to make."

Shoppers can claim a brand new Samsung Galaxy Watch for 30p a day thanks to Sky
One of Samsung's latest smartwatch models, the Watch7, would normally cost £239 - but Sky is offering the chance to get a brand new one for pennies per day Samsung is in the throes of a busy period, having launched a fresh range of folding phones this summer, along with a new addition to its smart watch collection - the Watch8. However, the launch of the new timepiece has caused a drop in the price of last year's model, with the Galaxy Watch7 still performing admirably in 2025. You can bag the Watch7 for as little as £239 if you purchase directly from Samsung or Argos, but there's a way to get the watch for mere pennies per day if bought through Sky. Pop over to their website and customers can find the 40mm version of the Galaxy Watch7 for £9 per month. This offer is based on a 36-month contract, which does mean that customers will end up paying a £95 premium over buying the watch outright. However, the contract comes with a 0% interest rate and no sneaky mid-contract price increases. Samsung markets this smart watch more as a fitness and wellness mate than a traditional smart watch. Of course, it can still tell the time and display notifications from your phone, but it also offers comprehensive activity and biometric tracking. Runners and cyclists will value the watch's enhanced dual GPS system that provides more precise tracking while on the move - perfect for uploading to Strava or Komoot. An included heart rate sensor, ECG, and blood pressure monitor all contribute to monitoring your body, helping you maintain daily fitness and health, reports the Manchester Evening News. Samsung has also developed an algorithm that compiles data to provide users with an 'energy score'. Utilising heart rate and sleep data, it can inform you roughly how energised you might be feeling during any given day, helping you make informed decisions about whether to go for that run or not. If you're not so fussed about all the additional health tracking features and just want a basic smart watch, the Nothing Watch Pro 3 might be up your street. It's available at Amazon for £99. Alternatively, some shoppers swear by the Amazfit Active 2, which has plenty of the same fitness tracking features for a smaller price tag. It's on sale at Amazon for £109.90 instead of the usual £129.90. Reviews of the Galaxy Watch7 are starting to flood in at Amazon with it receiving a 4.3 star rating so far. One shopper titles their review as 'best smart watch on the market at the moment', elaborating with: "Value for money it's a no brainer especially if you find it on a discounted price." Another shopper writes: " Great piece of kit. I've previously owned many watches, including apple watches. Have to say this is the best of the lot... works great as a health tracker too. Love the health app too." Meanwhile, a third wearer adds: "The strap is really comfortable and is big enough for a large wristed chap like myself." However, some purchasers claim the timepiece is undermined by disappointing battery performance. "So far it's been a good watch. Light, stylish and with all the features you can expect from a modern smartwatch. But as I mentioned on the title, the battery life lasting 2 days is just rubbish, so fed up with the charging hassle," reads one review. Another agrees, stating: "It is not so much the battery drain which is the issue for me as I can squeeze 2 days use out of it (with a lot of the features switched off). The major issue I have is the time it takes to re-charge. My watch was at 37% this morning, when I put it on the charger it told me that it was going to take over 1 hour and 30 minutes to fully charge. No use for me."

Samsung's new Crystal UHD TV is a top seller and 'like a cinema in your room'
Samsung has released a new and improved model of its Crystal UHD smart TV that's shot to the number one spot in Amazon's Hot New Releases category Samsung has released a new smart TV that's landed at the top of Amazon's hottest seller list. The 2025 Samsung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV is also on sale at £479, down from £549. This is for the 65' model, which has taken the number one spot in Amazon's 'Hot New Releases in TVs' category, beating the 50' model (£329) and 43' model (£269) in fifth and 8th place, respectively. This newly released device is the latest addition to Samsung's popular and affordable Crystal UHD series. It's powered by a crystal processor that's able to boost image quality to 4K UHD resolution, which has four times more pixels than regular FHD. This allows the TV to display more 'natural and true-to-life' colours, while High Dynamic Range (HDR) shows more depth and detail in both lighter and darker images. The Samsung TV utilises Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance non-4K content, while immersive Object Tracking Sounds Lite follows the action and Adaptive Sound optimises audio that's tailored to what's on screen. The TV runs on Samsung's Tizen operating system, which offers easy access to apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and BBC iPlayer, along with countless free TV shows and films on Samsung TV Plus. The new-and-improved model boasts a 'MetalStream' design, which is said to take inspiration from aircraft engineering and uses a single sheet of metal to create a slim, seamless profile. The TV can also be controlled with the Quick Remote app for Android and iOS, or with a Samsung Galaxy Watch. The Samsung Crystal range offers an affordable entry into 4K viewing, rivalling other budget-friendly brands like the Amazon Fire TV 4-Series, which sits in a similar price bracket up to £369 for the 55' mode. They both offer a similar UHD display with HDR capabilities, but what puts the Samsung slightly ahead is its ability to enhance lower resolution content and boost the image. The Samsung's surround sound may also feel more immersive compared to the Fire TV, although some buyers have found the Samsung benefits from a soundbar. Ultimately, neither model stands head and shoulders above the other, but some may prefer the build quality of the Samsung, which can also offer more longevity. Shoppers can also consider the new Sky Glass Air, the 4K UHD smart TV with Sky channels and streaming apps built in from £6 per month when paired with a Sky TV package. Released in June, this device boasts a 4K HDR Quantum Dot screen and Dolby Audio speaker system, as well as Sky's intelligent operating system that learns what viewers like. As for the 2025 Samsung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV, buyers have awarded it a 4.4-star rating after more than 600 reviews, compared to 4.3-stars for the Amazon Fire TV 4-Series. One user said: "It's like having a cinema in your front room. The picture is so clear, the size is great, the screen is almost the whole TV as there is a little border. With all Samsung TVs the sound can be a bit off while watching a TV show, you might have to turn it up or down on new episodes if you're binge watching, that's the only problem I've come across.' Another said: 'I'm amazed. Functionality, lightweight so easy to wall mount, great apps and the picture quality is stunning. We've started playing visuals on YouTube whilst listening to music and picture quality is perfect. I want to replace the TV in our bedroom so would buy this again in a heartbeat.' A third said: "Brilliant TV. Easy to set up. Clear picture. Great audio. Good price since current sale price offer." However, the same buyer noted a flaw, adding: "Only thing I hated are the legs. You would need such a long cabinet to sit it on."
