Lucknow: The state govt on Friday announced to plant 37 crore saplings in a day on July 9.
The state-wide campaign will be inaugurated by Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath
in Orai, Jalaun, near the Bundelkhand Expressway,
The minister of state for environment, forest, and climate change (independent charge), Arun Kumar Saxena, will also plant a sapling at the site on the day.
Earlier, the state govt has fixed the plantation target for 2025-26 to 35 crore.
The initial target of 35 crore saplings for plantation 2025-26 was revised by the govt to 37 crore with a new GO issued on Friday. This was done to surpass last year's plantation target of 36.5 crore, said sources in the forest department.
People's representatives, govt and non-govt agencies, NCC, NSS, civil society, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mahila Mangal Dal, Yuvak Mangal Dal, FPOs, and Eco clubs will plant saplings on the day, making it a people's movement.
The plantation sites will be geotagged. Control rooms will be set up by forest departments at the district level for the smooth organisation of the campaign, which will be linked to the command control centre at the department's headquarters in Lucknow. The campaign will be conducted in election mode, and districts will be divided into sectors and zones, with sector and zonal magistrates appointed.
The theme for Plantation 2025 is 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reviewed preparations for the Kanwar Yatra, conducted an aerial survey of the route from the Hindon airport in Ghaziabad to Bijnor in western Uttar Pradesh, issued instructions to officials concerned and asserted that no individual causing any kind of disorder or disruption during the yatra should be spared. He stressed that those involved in such actions must face the strictest punishment so that the sacred nature of the Kanwar Yatra is not compromised. The Kanwar Yatra will start on July 11 with the commencement of the Hindu holy month of Shravan or Sawan. The yatra will end on July 23. 'CM Yogi arrived at Hindon airport in Ghaziabad from Lucknow via state aircraft. He then conducted an aerial survey of the Kanwar Yatra route by helicopter, issuing necessary instructions to officials,' an official statement said. The chief minister issued instructions to officials to ensure seamless arrangements and security of devotees. He placed special emphasis on maintaining the sanctity of the yatra, ensuring that the faith and enthusiasm of lakhs of devotees remain undisturbed. 'The environment of the yatra must remain peaceful and well-organised at all times,' he said. Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to ensure comprehensive arrangements for tents, food, and other essential facilities along the route. He also directed that cleanliness, electricity, and lighting arrangements along the Kanwar path be of the highest standard. 'Every effort must be made to ensure the yatra is completed smoothly and without incident.' He underlined the importance of involving voluntary organisations and social groups to strengthen arrangements. The Kanwar Yatra route mostly falls in western Uttar Pradesh. Police and security personnel will be deployed on the 540-km Kanwar route covering Meerut, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, and Hapur, according to DIG Meerut range Kalanadhi Naithani. A total of 838 rest camps have been set up, including 464 in Meerut, 176 in Bulandshahr, 90 in Baghpat, and 108 in Hapur. During the Kanwar Yatra, Kanwariyas collect water from the Ganga and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh minister AK Sharma said, 'This one month is like a celebration throughout the country. We are making sure the facilities are better than last year's. Streetlights are being installed throughout the Kanwar route.'

Girl going back to school (ANI) A student named Pankhuri Tripathi, who had been unable to attend school for the past four months due to unpaid fees, is now back in class after the intervention of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath . Pankhuri approached the chief minister during a 'Janta Darbar' - a public grievance redressal forum, where she handed over a letter detailing her situation and seeking assistance. Moved by her appeal, CM Yogi Adityanath instructed that her school fees be waived. Pankhuri told ANI, "CM Yogi Adityanath accepted my request letter and waived off my school fees... My school has now started... I want to thank the chief minister, my principal, vice principal and all the officials..." Her father, Rajeev Kumar Tripathi, also praised the chief minister.
