Police quack lost duck case in real life Hot Fuzz
Cumbria Police's Eden neighbourhood police team (NPT) said one of its officers found the duck on a road in Appleby on Saturday night.
They helped the bird return to a riverbank about 9m (30ft) away, a spokesperson said.
The officer was "Eden NPT's answer to Sgt Angel", it said in a social media post, adding: "We aren't too far from Sandford!"
Hot Fuzz, a 2007 British comedy-action film starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, detailed the humdrum lives of rural police officers who uncover a murderous plot.

A British mother of three was sexually assaulted mid-air while parasailing in Africa, according to a report. Michelle Wilson, 52, said she was strapped into a harness with a parasail operator when he pressed himself against her and groped her while they soared through the sky off the beach in Sousse, Tunisia. She said the incident ruined her vacation. The tourist said she reported the operator as soon as she got on the ground, but he ruined her vacation. 'As women you expect a bit of banter from men in these countries, but this wasn't banter, it was a sexual assault,' she said. Wilson spent $8,000 for the trip to Tunisia wither her 17-year-old daughter, her friend and her 16-year-old twin sons. She believes the man has since been arrested. British authorities and Wilson's insurance company are assisting in the case, she said. EasyJet, with whom Wilson booked the trip, are looking into the assault as well.

An illegal migrant who broke free from a Los Angeles detention facility with help of anti-ICE activists was caught — while apparently wearing a $1,700 Louis Vuitton t-shirt. Anti-ICE activists helped British national Ahmed Mohamed escape as he was being transferred to a detention center in downtown Los Angeles last Tuesday, The Post previously reported. Mohamed, who has a rap sheet including charges of narcotics and weapons possession, was shackled as contract guards lined him up with several other detainees before walking them into the ICE detention center for processing.
