How much Kaizer Chiefs sold Yusuf Maart for!
Chiefs are currently out in the Netherlands as they begin to step up their preparations for next season.
Amakhosi arrived in the European country on Friday and after taking the day to settle, they got to it Saturday. The Chiefs squad was pictured going for an early morning run, similarly to their route in Turkey last season. Then in a video released later on the same day, it was seen that vice-captain Inacio Miguel was leading the side. Upon investigation it was noticed that regular captain Yusuf Maart had not been spotted at all before and during the trip so far.

Maart set to join SV Ried
This publication then reported that the cause of his absence was due to an imminent move abroad. Chiefs were believed to have agreed a deal with an unnamed Austrian Bundesliga team for Maart's services. That team then ending up being revealed as newly promoted SV Ried!
Now as all parties look to finalise the deal, Soccer-Laduma reports Ried will pay Chiefs R15 million for Maart!
'The deal is as good as done. It's believed that Chiefs have asked for R15 million from SV Ried. They are making good business with these players moving away. They did the same with Teenage Hadebe, Siyabonga Ngezana and recently Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. So they have done the same with Maart. It's believed they are money when least expected,' said a source to the same publication.
Chiefs to make R15 million?
This comes as a surprise to many as Maart was believed to have just triggered his one-year option with Chiefs. It is a move that sort of mirrors that of former Amakhosi centre-back Siyabonga Ngezana. The player was a divisive figure within the club's fan base but left having finished his last season strong. He went over to Europe in a shock move and has grown in leaps and bounds since. Maybe the same will happen when the midfielder moves to Ried.
Thoughts please Amakhosi fans

Chiefs' Ighodaro issue Ighodaro spent last season on loan at AmaZulu, and would need to have been released from his contract by his parent club Sundowns, for Amakhosi to snap him up as a free agent. It is unclear, however, whether Sundowns have done this. 'I can't speak on anything right now until the club (Chiefs) makes announcements,' said Chiefs' marketing and commercial director Jessica Motaung this week, when quizzed about the Ighodaro 'leak'. Chiefs midfielder Samkelo Zwane, meanwhile, believes Chiefs are ready for the new season after a pre-season camp in the Netherlands. 'My body is tired, the players are tired, the trip to the Netherlands was a good one,' Zwane told Newzroom Africa 'I think all pre-seasons are like that, a place to understand our teammates and coach better.' Zwane added that the back-to-back games Amakhosi played was probably a deliberate tactic. The World Champion Springboks have announced a 37-man squad to face the Wallabies over two tests in the Rugby Championship. South Africa faces Australia on Saturday, 16 August at Ellis Park. The sides meet again on Saturday, 23 August at Cape Town Stadium. The Springboks have released their 37-man squad to tackle the Wallabies. Do you see any weaknesses? Coach Rassie Erasmus was effusive in his praise of the Junior Springboks. Three of them will train with the senior side. 'We are tremendously proud of the Junior Springboks for winning the World Rugby U20 Championship, and we were thrilled to see the talent coming through the junior ranks, so we opted to invite three of them to join us to expose them to our structures and the standards required at top international level. 'We believe this camp will benefit them significantly, and we are excited to see how they slot in and train with us. 'Unfortunately, we had to limit the size of the squad to ensure maximum outputs and more individual attention at our training sessions, so although more players could have been invited, we could only select three.' Kaizer Chiefs strongest XI with new signings this season
Kaizer Chiefs will open their 2025/26 Betway Premiership season against Stellenbosch on 10 August. Having returned from their pre-season in the Netherlands, Amakhosi have just over two weeks to prepare for the big clash. Unfortunately for them, they won't feature in the MTN8 competition after failing to finish in the top 8 last season. This weekend, they will play Asante Kotoko of Ghana in the Toyota Cup in Durban, where supporters will see new players in action for the first time on South African soil. Goalkeeper: Brandon Petersen The experienced keeper appears to be Nabi's first-choice keeper this season. His leadership has been vital, especially in the final of the Nedbank Cup, where Amakhosi were victorious. Defenders: Reeve Frosler (RB) The experienced defender is more likely to be Kaizer Chiefs' first choice as opposed to new signing Thabiso Monyane. Dillan Solomons could also be used as a sub rather than a starter. Miguel Inacio (CB) Miguel is set to be the new Amakhosi captain with the departure of Yusuf Maart. He has looked solid in big games, but his disciplinary record has to improve. On his day, the Angolan international is one of the best defenders in the PSL. Aden McCarthy (CB) The young centre-back who impressed during pre-season in the Netherlands. He has become a new favourite and expect him to bench Given Msimango when in the opening matches. With regular centre-back Rushwin Dortley still not fit, McCarthy will no doubt be Miguel's defensive partner. Bradley Cross (LB) Bradley Cross is more likely to start ahead of Nkanyiso Shinga at left-back. Shinga has looked vulnerable and it's more likely that Nasreddine Nabi will opt for Cross in the opening matches. Paseka Mako could be an option when he recovers from injury. Midfielders: Thabo Cele (CM) Thabo Cele is no doubt Kaizer Chiefs' best player. Since his arrival, he had looked like the leader the club needs. During pre-season, he was far the best player and looks like he is getting more comfortable in the midfield role alongside Sibongiseni Mthethwa. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo (AM) Ngcobo has excelled this pre-season and looks like a different player. If he can carry the form that he showed in Holland, he will be an asset for Amakhosi this season. Siphesihle Ndlovu (DM) He might be one of Kaizer Chiefs' surprise signings. Ex-player Reneilwe Letsholonyane has praised the former SuperSport United midfielder, saying he is the kind of player who will fight for every ball and show commitment. Forwards: Makabi Lilepo (LW) The Congolese attacker is one of the few standout players from last season. He will no doubt start most of Amakhosi's matches but it remains to be seen if he will show the same explosiveness he showed in his first three months at the club. Pule Mmodi (RW) Mmodi has been hot and cold for Kaizer Chiefs and perhaps this could finally be his season where he impresses. Flavio Silva (Str) Nabi has always preferred to have a target man, hence he signed Silva. If the 29-year-old striker can find form early in the season, Amakhosi could play him upfront while Lilepo, Mmodi and Ngcobo provide.
