Cristian, son of Francesco Totti, announces retirement at 19
Though he gave no official reason for the decision, several media reports have claimed that the pressure of being a legend's son weighed too much on him.
Totti, a FIFA World Cup winner with Italy in 2006, spent his entire career at AS Roma, playing over 780 matches and scoring 307 goals.
He won the Serie A once and the Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana twice with the side, earning the nickname L'Ottavo Re di Roma (the eighth King of Rome) from the club's fans.
Cristian, however, had a different trajectory in professional football.

He began his youth career at Roma but limited game-time — 15 minutes across two U18 — saw him move to Frosinone Primavera, where he scored once in four matches.
He then had a brief spell at Rayo Vallecano in Spain, while his most recent experiences included short spells with Avezzano & Olbia in Italy's fourth division.
However, he constantly remained under heavy criticism — especially body shaming — on social media, with some calling him Captain Salsiccia (Captain Sausage).
'He was treated like dirt because he's the son of Francesco and Ilary (Blasi),' Ninni Corda, the technical director of Olbia, had told Sportitalia in an earlier interview.
Cristian, however, will not be away from football entirely. He will now work at the Totti Soccer School, founded by his father.

Cristiano Ronaldo's $1 billion wealth fails to make him the world's richest footballer: Unexpected name takes the lead
Think Cristiano Ronaldo is the richest footballer on Earth? Or maybe Lionel Messi with his mega deals and global fame? Think again. The richest footballer in the world is a name most fans wouldn't recognise on the pitch, but off it, he could probably buy your favourite club. Meet Faiq Bolkiah, a player with a modest football resume and a jaw-dropping net worth of $20 billion. Bolkiah, 27, who captains the Brunei national team and currently plays for Ratchaburi FC in Thailand, may not be a household name in footballing circles, but his estimated net worth of $20 billion easily eclipses even Ronaldo's. The reason? He's the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, one of the richest royals in the world. While his footballing achievements may not match those of Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, his royal lineage puts him in a league of his own when it comes to wealth. His family's extensive assets include oil and gas reserves, luxury properties, and investments, according to The Sunday Times Rich List. Cristiano Ronaldo has officially hit billionaire status, joining an elite list of athletes who've crossed the $1 billion mark in net worth. The Portuguese superstar has long been one of the most marketable and well-paid footballers in the world, and with his current mega-deal at Saudi club Al Nassr, he has now firmly secured his place in the financial hall of fame. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Ronaldo is worth a jaw-dropping $1 billion, thanks to a glittering football career and a long line of endorsement deals, including a lifetime contract with Nike, earnings from his CR7 brand, and now, a record-breaking salary in Saudi Arabia. Ronaldo's contract reportedly promises him $700 million over two years, making it the highest annual salary in sports history. The deal includes a $48 million signing bonus and, even more remarkably, a 15% ownership stake in Al Nassr — giving him both control and capital in Saudi Arabia's footballing ambitions. The country is set to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034, and Ronaldo is expected to play a crucial ambassadorial role. He also remains the most-followed person on Instagram, further boosting his global brand value and sponsorship appeal. Lionel Messi, currently with Inter Miami in the MLS, isn't far behind. According to reports, his net worth is $850 million, and he has multiple brand deals in his kitty, including Adidas, Apple, Hard Rock Cafe, and more. David Beckham, now a business mogul and part-owner of Inter Miami, rounds out the top with an estimated net worth of $600 million. Faiq Bolkiah – $20 billion Cristiano Ronaldo – $1 billion Lionel Messi – $850 million David Beckham – $600 million

Cristiano Ronaldo hits billion dollar net worth but far from richest footballer; unexpected name takes the top spot
Portuguese superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has officially reached billionaire status, another mark in the book of the athlete many consider to be the most famous in the world. Following his fresh extension with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, Ronaldo's bumper mega-contract – which extends beyond just a salaried wage and bonuses — has him rubbing shoulders with giants of the sports business landscape. Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be the highest paid athlete in the world after a new record-breaking contract with Al Nassr.(REUTERS) While Ronaldo surpassed one billion dollars in career earnings all the way back in 2020, he has established himself with a net worth of 1 billion US dollars, as per This follows a career glittering with incredible endorsement deals to boost his status as one of the highest-paid football players in the world, including a blockbuster lifetime deal with Nike. Already the man with the most followers on social media platform Instagram, Ronaldo's extension at Al Nassr promises him an absolutely staggering USD 700 million dollar contract across two years, which breaks his own record of the highest per-annum contract in sports history. Within the contract is included a whopping 48 million dollar signing bonus, and also a 15% ownership stake in the Al Nassr club, who are at the forefront of Saudi football's cash-laden push to establish themselves closer to the top of global football. Ronaldo's equity in the team he represents provides a financial underline on his status as the face of the Saudi football project ahead of their hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2034. Why Ronaldo isn't the richest professional footballer in the world Ronaldo beats his great rival Lionel Messi to the mark, with the Argentinian estimated to hold an 850 million dollar net worth in the wake of his own mega-deal at Inter Miami in Major League Soccer. Ronaldo has also outdone the earnings of the Inter Miami owner and the man considered to be the trailblazer of football endorsement deals, David Beckham, whose net worth across his career and post-career business is estimated to be in the 600 million dollar range. However, Ronaldo still falls short of Faiq Bolkiah, widely considered the professional footballer with the highest net worth, given he is the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, one of the richest men in the world. Bolkiah captains the Brunei national team and represents Ratchaburi in the Thai first division as a professional footballer, and is valued at 20 billion US dollars thanks to his uber-rich family.
