CRPF personnel made a mark by their duty, courage, says PM on Raising Day
Wishing CRPF personnel on the force's 87th Raising Day, Prime Minister Modi on X said, "CRPF personnel have made a mark for their duty, courage and steadfast commitment in the most testing of situations."
Home minister Amit Shah, in a message to CRPF on X, said, "Your selfless sacrifice has been the backbone of our nation's security and your unwavering courage to end Naxalism is truly commendable".
Home secretary Govind Mohan, while addressing CRPF Raising Day celebrations here, assured the force of the ministry of home affairs' commitment to arming it with modern weapons and latest technology to meet the increasing security challenges India faces.
The secretary emphasised that the MHA would deploy technology to minimise the risk of injury in risky operations.
"In the coming days, we will have drones that can see through thick foliage in the mountains etc, weapons that can be fired from a safe range and technology to remotely detect and defuse IEDs," he said.
Personnel who lose a limb in operations would be retained in the force, possibly in an alternative role, and limb replacement facilitated wherever there is scope, he said at the event with CRPF DG G P Singh by his side.
Mohan underlined that the MHA was working with CRPF to ensure that personnel, particularly women, have access to all basic facilities in camps set up in operational areas. tnn

Call for use of modern technology in agriculture
Guntur: Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar urged the farmers to use modern technology in agriculture to reduce cost of cultivation. He participated as the chief guest in the 20th phase of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi programme held at the Agricultural University in Guntur city on Saturday. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi officially launched this phase of the PM-KISAN scheme virtually from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. As part of this nationwide initiative, Union Ministers joined virtually from various states. In Andhra Pradesh, the programme was launched at the Agricultural University in Guntur by Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar. Speaking on the occasion, he said the cost of cultivation for paddy, chilli, Bengal gram and cotton crops ranges from Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000 per acre to extend helping hand to the famers, the Centre and state governments extending financial assistance of Rs 20,000 per year. He said, the farmers in several states are using services of Krishi Vignan Kendras,and added that the Acharya Ranga Agricultural University has been developed with state-of-the-art infrastructure. He said the use of bio-pesticides has increased, but due to adulterated products from some companies, cancer-causing risks are rising. He further said under the coalition government, effective water management for agriculture has been implemented under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu and the availability of drones for agriculture has increased, and these can significantly improve productivity. MLA B Ramanjaneyulu, ANGRAU vice-Chancellor Dr R Sarada Jayalakshmi, university professors and staff were present.

From Mumbai to Marseille: IMEC is bound to redefine India-Europe ties

This event not only consolidated the growing influence of the Dialogue but also highlighted the depth of the Indo-French strategic partnership. This robust relationship is the essential driving force behind ambitious projects such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor IMEC ).Launched on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023, IMEC is a 6,400-kilometre multimodal corridor from Mumbai to Marseille that will play a key role in accelerating the integration between these three regions, particularly in the maritime, energy and digital sectors. The corridor has been a priority of the bilateral agenda since President Emmanuel Macron's State visit in January 2024 as chief guest for India's 75th Republic Day. In February 2025, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to France, the joint declaration of the two Leaders underlined the importance of IMEC as a project 'fostering connectivity, sustainable growth trajectories, and access to clean energy in all these regions.' With France and India at both ends of the corridor, IMEC is a further illustration of the momentum in Indo-French strategic the crossroads of three continents, Marseille is a major gateway to Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa. Not only is Marseille the European capital city of connectivity, but it is also the world's sixth largest digital hub, along with a Euro-Mediterranean hydrogen hub under development. A flagship project of the Global Gateway connectivity strategy, IMEC is designed to create new avenues for trade, low-carbon energy, and data exchanges between Europe and exemplifies France's strong commitment to enhancing connectivity with India. On the sidelines of the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, President Macron chaired the 'Summit for a More Connected Mediterranean' on 9th June. On this occasion, heads of state and government, as well as several business leaders from North Africa, Europe and the Gulf, reasserted their shared interest in fostering geoeconomics initiatives such as IMEC for the benefit of all. France reaffirmed the vision of IMEC as a network of connectivity rather than a single infrastructure line connecting two points, from the ports of Marseille to Mumbai. This ensures the resilience of the project, which has been developed to diversify global supply chains. There are already multiple interconnection points in each region or country, such as the ports of Mundra, Mumbai or Vadhavan in connectivity goal is supported by both the public and private sectors, as highlighted by the declaration of the CEO of CMA-CGM Group, Mr Rodolphe Saadé, who received Prime Minister Modi at the Group's headquarters in Marseille. The organization of the first Raisina Mediterranean Dialogue, with the participation of Dr S. Major defence milestone: India receives final Airbus C-295 transport aircraft from Spain
India has received the last of 16 C-295 transport aircraft from Spain, marking a key step in the Indian Air Force's fleet upgrade. The delivery, part of a larger deal involving aircraft manufacturing in India, boosts the country's defence capabilities and domestic aerospace industry. read more India on Saturday received the final unit of 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft from Spain, marking a significant step forward in the Indian Air Force's (IAF) modernisation drive, the Indian Embassy in Spain announced. The C-295, a tactical transport aircraft with a 5–10 tonne capacity and modern avionics, is set to replace the IAF's ageing Avro fleet. With an endurance of up to 11 hours, the aircraft is known for its versatility and efficiency in a range of military operations. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Indian Ambassador to Spain Dinesh K Patnaik, along with senior IAF officials, took delivery of the aircraft at Airbus's Defence and Space assembly line in Seville. 'The delivery, two months ahead of schedule, marks an important milestone in strengthening India's defence capabilities,' the embassy said on social media. India signed a contract with Airbus Defence and Space in September 2021 for 56 C-295MW aircraft. Under the agreement, 16 aircraft were to be delivered from Spain in flyaway condition, while the remaining 40 will be manufactured in India by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL). The final Spanish delivery fulfills Airbus's initial commitment under the deal. In October last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Manufacturing Facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. This site will house India's first-ever private sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) for military aircraft, operated by TASL. The Indian facility will not only assemble but also support the full production ecosystem—from manufacturing and testing to delivery and lifecycle maintenance. The programme also brings together a consortium of Indian defence players, including Bharat Electronics Ltd, Bharat Dynamics Ltd, and several private MSMEs, making it one of the most significant public-private defence collaborations in recent years.
