Exclusive: Love Island's Harrison and Lauren take next step in relationship

Cosmopolitan3 days ago
Love Island's Harrison, 22, and Lauren, 26, have officially closed things off in their relationship and are now "exclusive".
Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK after leaving the Villa last week, the pair revealed while they are not in a relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend, they have closed things off.
When asked if they were closed off Harrison said: "We've not had the proper conversation, I feel like Lauren knows where my head is at. I left the Villa to pursue things with Lauren. I feel like we don't really need to speak about it either. I feel like we know both where our heads are at. But for me the big thing was her meeting my family before I made anything official. That will be coming in the next week or so. I have no doubt we'll be boyfriend and girlfriend very soon."
The pair were then asked if they were "exclusive" but not in a "relationship", to which Harrison replied: "Yeah, I would say I've only got eyes for Lauren and I hope it's same [he gestures to Lauren]. This is the first time we're talking about it."
Lauren then added: "I feel like we've just not had to say it, like we just know and obviously we did our first post together yesterday. So I feel like that's a big thing."
The pair met on the current season of Love Island, when Harrison entered Casa Amor and quickly fell for Lauren.
However, back in the Villa he had been pursuing a connection with Toni. When Harrison chose to reenter the main Villa and bring Lauren with him it kicked off one of the series' biggest love triangles.
While Harrison and Lauren were getting to know each other intimately, he was still pursuing things with Toni and made his feelings for her apparent when he suggested she should pick him at the next recoupling.
Thsi moment happened the night after Lauren and Harrison had slept together, and so when Toni picked Harrison at the recoupling it led to confusion and upset amongst the Villa. Lauren was left to recouple with Ty.
After spending a day or two together in a new couple, Toni and Harrison still weren't sure where they stood with each other and Harrison continued to get to know Lauren.
Last week, new bombshell Angel entered the Villa and chose to recouple with Ty, this meant Lauren was single and dumped from the Villa. She then asked Harrison to leave the Villa with her but while he debated packing his bags, he didn't go that evening.
However, the next night he told his fellow Islanders he had chosen to leave the Villa to carry on getting to know Lauren.
Since they've been reunited outside the Villa the pair have spent the majority of their time together and appear to be going strong.
Love Island continues on ITV2 and ITVX

When Lauren, 33, met 5-year-old Peggy the dog at a rescue in 2024, she had no idea she'd found a companion that would become a huge part of her life. Peggy, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross, was at Basildon Dogs Trust in the U.K. where she was taken after being rescued from Ireland where it is believed she was used for breeding. "I don't know much about Peggy other than she was used for breeding and was from Ireland," Lauren, who didn't give a surname, told Newsweek. "She had obvious signs of recent breeding when I initially met her. I had to wait for her to be spayed before she could come home with me." As a first-time dog owner, Lauren waited six months to be matched with the right dog. That patience paid off. "The Dogs Trust really found me the perfect dog because she has the most gorgeous temperament," she said. "She absolutely loves all people and dogs." In 2024, approximately 5 million animals entered U.S. shelters and rescues, according to Shelter Animals Count—an increase of nearly 3 percent from 2023. By the end of the year, 103,000 more pets had entered shelters than had exited, contributing to an ongoing capacity crisis in U.S. shelters. In the text overlay she said: "The universe really said we will give you the sweetest rescue girl and she will be obsessed with you and give you all the unconditional love in the world." The camera pans to show Peggy, sitting right next to her owner while she watches TV and staring up adoringly at her. "She stares at me quite a lot. My parents tell me every time I walk around our home she watches me all the time," Lauren said. "My favorite thing about her is that even though she was, I can assume used to financial gain, the love that she has provided me since I have brought her home, no money could ever put a price on that love I feel from her." The video gained thousands of views on TikTok and in the comments fellow pet lovers shared their joy at Peggy's heartwarming staring. "Her face! She's perfect," said viewer Jack. While another viewer said: "That beautiful little face is so full of love." "She's a beautiful girl, and lucky to have been rescued by you," said another TikToker. "I share all of her life on TikTok and she seems to have a happy following of supportive people," Lauren said. "The reaction to my latest photo has been lovely to see. Sometimes people can understandably be wary of dogs, but she honestly is just so loving and it's lovely to see that people feel the same way about her through the video."

I Fought the Law is the heartbreaking Sheridan Smith drama based on a true story

ITV is renowned for producing gripping and sensitively handled dramas based on true stories. I Fought the Law, a new series coming later this year, is one of them. Starring BAFTA-winning actor Sheridan Smith in the leading role, it follows the harrowing story of Ann Ming, a grieving mother who campaigned to change the Double Jeopardy Law after her daughter was murdered. The drama retells Ming's long fight for justice — a 15-year battle that finally led to permanent change in the criminal system — and some closure for her family. Ahead of its release date, let's take a deeper dive into I Fought the Law, from the full plot, the cast, and when viewers can expect it to land on their screens. Currently, there is no release date for the drama. However, we do know it's coming to ITV1 and ITVX later this year. There is a trailer, however, which shows Smith in character as Ming, along with a taste of what's to come. The four-part limited series explores the real-life events of Ann Ming and her family, after her daughter, Julie, was murdered in 1989. After disappearing following a late-night shift at a pizza restaurant in Cleveland, Ming is convinced that her daughter has been killed. 80 days later, Ming tragically discovers Julie's body concealed behind the bath panel in her daughter's home. This is despite police forensics teams failing to find Julie after extensive searches of the property. During the episodes — which are also based on Ming's 2008 book, For the Love of Julie — the grieving mother works tirelessly to change the 800-year-old Double Jeopardy Law. After 15 years of campaigning, Ming finally manages to overturn the law: Having been acquitted following two mistrials, Julie's murderer was previously allowed to walk free. The Double Jeopardy Law meant he couldn't be tried again for the same crime. However, in 2006, the man responsible for killing Julie was finally sentenced to life in prison. Sheridan Smith, who many will recognise from Mrs Biggs, Cilla, and Gavin & Stacey, leads the cast. Below is a full list of cast members and the roles they play: While the show has yet to be released, it will be available to watch on ITV1 and ITVX

What Is 'the Ick'? The Truth About Instant Disgust in Dating

If you spend time on social media, watch shows like Love Island, or are currently in the dating pool, you're probably well aware of the concept of 'the ick.' That sudden feeling of disgust towards a person you're seeing can come out of nowhere—and, inexplicably, it's usually brought on by something totally trivial. To wit, here are just a few of the many 'icks' I've recently come across on TikTok: Doing the wave at a baseball game. Hopping over a puddle. Sampling ice cream from a tiny spoon. Starting a lawnmower. Getting off a chairlift. Running for a bus. Using a baby voice while petting a dog. Saying 'whoopsie.' Yes, all of these things are completely normal. And, yes, every single one of us has done or probably will do one of these things at some point in our lives. But that's the thing about the ick: It doesn't really make a lot of sense. As Morgan says on Nobody Wants This, 'You can't fight the ick.' Instagram content This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from. Or… can you? Conceptually, the ick might seem silly—even kind of mean—but experts say there could be more to it than meets the eye. Below, a look at the psychology behind the ick—and what to do if you find yourself in its terrible throes. What is the ick? The ick can best be described as a sudden, internal vibe shift; it's the moment when your desire for a potential paramour evaporates and is quickly replaced by total disgust. It's not just a tiny twinge, either—it's a full-body cringe. 'The feeling is real, visceral, and hard to shake,' says Matt Hussey, an integrative therapist based in London. While the ick can certainly be brought about by something kind of gross—like, not changing one's bed sheets enough, or wiping greasy hands on one's pants—more often than not, the inciting incident is relatively innocuous: wearing a certain kind of shoe, mispronouncing a word, sighing too loudly. 'To be an ick, it needs to be a 'normal' event that other people won't react to,' says Stockholm-based sexologist and relationship therapist Sofie Roos. For example, having bad breath or body odor isn't really considered an ick—almost everyone is turned off by those. A true ick is much more subjective. 'It's a personal micro turn-off that most people don't bother about,' says Roos.
