Charlie Coleman joins Amazon MGM Studios as Head of International Marketing
Amazon MGM Studios has appointed veteran executive Charlie Coleman as its new head of international theatrical marketing, signalling the studio's growing ambitions to become a global distribution powerhouse. The announcement was made in an internal note from Sue Kroll, Amazon MGM's head of global marketing for film and series, underlining the significance of the move as the company builds out its international infrastructure to support a rapidly growing film slate.
Coleman, who officially begins his new role on August 18, will report directly to Kroll and will be based in London. He joins Amazon MGM from Warner Bros., where he played a pivotal role in launching several high-profile international marketing campaigns for blockbuster hits including Dune, Barbie, Elvis, The Batman and the upcoming Minecraft movie. His experience spans two major studios, having also held previous roles at Disney in both London and Los Angeles.
As Amazon MGM seeks to establish a fully independent global distribution pipeline, allowing it to release films internationally without relying on third-party studios, Coleman will be instrumental in steering international marketing strategies. The expansion moves the studio closer to joining the ranks of Hollywood's top players, including Disney, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros.
Kroll praised Coleman's creativity, strategic vision and collaborative leadership style in her announcement. She emphasised that his appointment is a critical step in strengthening Amazon MGM's global marketing operations and that his leadership will complement the strong foundation already laid by the studio's marketing and distribution teams.

Will Disney Abu Dhabi be indoors? Here's what we know
We've got three words for you: Disney. Abu. Dhabi. The happiest place on Earth is making its Middle East debut and while our inner child is spinning in teacups with joy, one (very valid) grown-up question remains: will the Disney theme park be outdoors or indoors? Because, let's face it – as much as we love Mickey-shaped ice creams and singing Let It Go under the sun, Abu Dhabi's summer doesn't mess around. With temps soaring past 50°C, even Olaf might reconsider his eternal love for summer. So… what's the plan? Will Disney Abu Dhabi be indoors or outdoors? It's (sort of) outdoors – but also indoors. Basically, it's magic. The answer, like any good Disney plot twist, isn't so straightforward. According to Disney Parks boss Josh D'Amaro, the new Yas Island mega-project will be a hybrid, combining the best of indoor comfort with outdoor charm. They're being very ambitious, architecture, tech and water are all coming into play – which sounds like there might be a splash of Moana inspiration involved. Here's the kicker: the park is being built right up against the water. Think cool breezes, waterfront vistas and, who knows – maybe even an indoor-outdoor castle that literally lets the sea into the storyline. Miral Group CEO Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi added that, like other Yas Island hits (hi, Warner Bros. World), Disney will be indoors, but he also called it the most advanced park in the Disney portfolio. So expect something completely new – and 100 percent air-conditioned. So, when can we go? Not tomorrow, unfortunately. With a timeline of up to two years for design and another four to six for construction, we're looking at a 2030 to 2032 opening. But we've waited 100 years for Disney to come to the UAE – what's a few more? Until then, we'll keep dreaming of those castle selfies, futuristic rides and Emirati-inspired storylines (yes, those are happening too). One thing's for sure – whether indoors, outdoors, or somewhere in between – Disney Abu Dhabi will be cooler than cool. Literally. All about Disney Abu Dhabi 7 things we know about the new Disney theme park in Abu Dhabi It's going to be magical – and massive This is when Disney Abu Dhabi is likely to open A Disney official has shared a rough timeline Three key ways the new Disney theme park will change Abu Dhabi A whole new world indeed

‘Freakier Friday' marks Lindsay Lohan's long-awaited big screen return
Lindsay Lohan says she drew upon her own experiences of motherhood for 'Freakier Friday,' the highly-anticipated sequel to her hit 2003 movie 'Freaky Friday.' Lohan, 39, welcomed her first child in 2023, a year before the Disney movie was filmed. 'It felt full circle for me, and also the timing was pretty impeccable considering that I'm a new mom and I was able to bring being a mom into the character,' Lohan said at the film's London premiere on Thursday. 'It's the first time I'm able to do that on screen.' 'Freaky Friday', with a reported budget of $26 million, was a surprise hit, making over $160 million worldwide and obtaining a cult following. The 2025 follow-up sees Lohan and actress Jamie Lee Curtis reprising the roles of mother and daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. Twenty years on, Anna is a single parent to tomboy teen daughter Harper, played by Julia Butters. Their relationship comes under stress when Anna falls for Eric (Manny Jacinto), the father of Harper's new British classmate Lily (Sophia Hammons), and they decide to get married. The future stepsisters, with a mutual dislike for one another, decide to intervene. While the 2003 film saw a body swap between Tess and Anna, things get 'freakier' this time around with Tess and Anna switching bodies with Lily and Harper. Before signing on to the sequel, Lohan ensured that Anna returned as a multi-faceted and relatable character. 'It was important to me that we explained who Anna is today and how she's evolved and the dynamic between her and her daughter as she's a single working mom. There are some basic points that I wanted to get across because I want people to see the movie and find a piece of it that they can grab onto and be like, 'okay, I get that',' she said. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, the movie also sees actor Chad Michael Murray reprising the role of young Anna's love interest, Jake. Shooting the sequel was a 'lovefest', said Murray. 'It was the same, but better. It felt very much like connective tissue to the first movie. Everyone loved going to work and no one wanted to go home.' 'Freakier Friday' marks Lohan's big screen return. 'It's obviously nerve-wracking because you want it to be great and you want people to love what you do,' she said. 'As long as people are enjoying what I'm doing and it's making them happy, then I feel like I'm doing my job and that's what I'm here to do.' 'Freakier Friday' begins its global cinematic rollout on August 6. Meanwhile, Lohan said she would like to take on some more serious and dramatic roles as she marks her return to the big screen with the body-swap comedy sequel Freakier Friday. Lohan told The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Angeles premiere of Freakier Friday: '(I'm) doing a TV show with Hulu that I'm really excited about and I'd like to take on some more serious, dramatic roles.
