Hulu Announces Cancellation of Four Shows
So far this year, Hulu has announced the cancellation of four different shows.
According to DirecTV, "Solar Opposites" has not been renewed for another season and will come to a close in season 6 while "How to Die Alone," "Wayne Brady: The Family Remix" and "Extraordinary" have all been canceled.
"Solar Opposites" is an animated television show that centers around a family of aliens who crash land on Earth and are forced to stay there after they were sent from their home planet, Planet Shlorp, to colonize new planets shortly before it was destroyed by an asteroid. The upcoming sixth season of the show will be its last as it has not been renewed beyond that.
"How to Die Alone" is a comedy series that follows a woman who decides to change her life after a near-death experience, taking her on a journey of self-empowerment and personal transformation as she looks to find love. It was canceled by Hulu after just one season.
"Wayne Brady: The Family Remix" is a reality show that follows the life of actor and comedian Wayne Brady. The show is described as "a divorced couple who successfully co-parent in a blended multiracial family." After its lone season, the show was canceled by Hulu.
"Extraordinary" follows a girl named Jen who lives in a world where everyone develops a superpower at the age of 18. However, six years after turning 18, she still had not discovered her superpower. While the show was well received for its first season, generating a 100 percent rotten tomatoes score, it was canceled by Hulu following its second season.
While fans will undoubtedly be disappointed by some of these decisions, Hulu still has plenty of streaming options for fans to find something new to watch.

Emmys leave San Francisco-set ‘A Man on the Inside' on the outside
Emmy voters evidently didn't leave their hearts in San Francisco. There are always surprising inclusions and omissions from any Emmy list, but one shocker from the nominations handed down Tuesday, July 15, was the exclusion of the Netflix sitcom ' A Man on the Inside.' The comedy set and partially filmed in San Francisco received zero nominations, despite star Ted Danson receiving both Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations for his role as Charles Nieuwendyk, a retired college professor who agrees to go undercover at a Nob Hill retirement home to find a missing ruby necklace. Danson, best known for the 1980s sitcom 'Cheers,' holds the record for the most Emmy nods for a lead actor in a comedy series (14 nominations, with two wins), et he was unexpectedly left out this year. The nominees are Seth Rogen, Apple TV+'s ' The Studio '; Martin Short, Hulu's ' Only Murders in the Building '; Jeremy Allen White, FX/Hulu's ' The Bear '; Adam Brody, Netflix's 'Nobody Wants This'; and Jason Segel, Apple TV+'s ' Shrinking.' Best comedy series nominations went to 'The Bear,' 'Nobody Wants This,' 'Only Murders in the Building,' 'Shrinking' and 'The Studio' as well as ABC's 'Abbott Elementary,' HBO/Max's 'Hacks' and FX/Hulu's 'What We Do in the Shadows.' The reviews for 'A Man on the Inside' have been stellar since its debut in November, with Rotten Tomatoes rating it at 96% fresh from critics and 91% from viewers. It also has been watched by 12.4 million viewers, earning it the No. 14 spot on Nielsen's chart of most watched series. It has also been renewed for a second season. Danson's real-life wife, Mary Steenburgen, will join him in the cast. The show, inspired by the Oscar-nominated 2020 Chilean documentary 'The Mole Agent' is quirky and endearing, and gives dignity to the elderly community. It also, according to Chronicle culture critic Peter Hartlaub, provided one of the best hours of San Francisco television ever. (Episode 7, 'From Russian Hill with Love,' in which Charles and his new friend Calbert spend a day in the city, from a ferry ride to the Golden Gate Bridge to Oracle Park.) But the creators of 'A Man on the Inside' can take hope from a pair of Apple TV+ shows that got some love Tuesday. 'Shrinking,' the comedy starring Segel and Harrison Ford received seven nominations for its second season and ' Slow Horses,' an espinage thriller starring Gary Oldman, received five noms for its fifth season. Each show was virtually ignored in their first seasons. Maybe voters just need time to catch up.

‘Paradise' surprises again! How the drama shocked the Emmys
Even as a show known for its twists, Paradise still managed to pull off a few surprises on Emmy nominations morning. The Hulu series secured four nominations total, all in major categories. The first season of the show from This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman was nominated for Best Drama Series, Drama Actor for its lead Sterling K. Brown, Drama Supporting Actor for James Marsden, and Drama Supporting Actress for Julianne Nicholson (a double nominee today). This morning, Paradise was sitting at No. 9 in the Best Drama Series predictions, just outside the range of nominations. It ultimately snuck into the category when the sixth-ranked show, Squid Game, failed to make the cut. The upsets were even more extreme in Marsden's and Nicholson's categories. Both the supporting actor and supporting actress were sitting at No. 18 in their respective categories. Nicholson made it into the nominees list over favored contenders like The Diplomat's Allison Janney, The White Lotus' Leslie Bibb, and The Last of Us' Isabel Merced. Marsden made a similar leap in Best Supporting Actor. His nomination came over more highly predicted performers like Slow Horses' Jack Lowden, Squid Game's Choi Seung-hyun, and The White Lotus' Patrick Schwarzenegger. On the other hand, Gold Derby voters nailed the lineup for Best Drama Actor, going five for five with their predictions. Brown was nominated alongside Severance's Adam Scott, The Pitt's Noah Wyle, Slow Horses' Gary Oldman, and The Last of Us' Pedro Pascal.
