'After Kanwar Yatra, posters of miscreants will be put up', CM Yogi warns of action
Talking to reporters in Meerut, he said, 'We have CCTV footage of those trying to defame the yatra by indulging in vandalism. Once the Kanwar Yatra concludes peacefully, we will put up posters of these miscreants and take strict action against them.'
CM Yogi's remarks come amid a spate of incidents captured on social media where some 'Kanwariyas' were seen engaging in vandalism -- damaging vehicles, attacking individuals, and creating public nuisance.
The Chief Minister accused certain elements of trying to malign the religious pilgrimage both online and offline using false narratives. He urged every Kanwar Sangh and devotee to take responsibility for the sanctity of the Yatra, saying, 'Those who are trying to defame the Kanwar Yatra under the guise of devotees must be identified and kept away. It is our duty not to let them infiltrate this sacred journey.'
Highlighting the significance of Lord Shiva and the peaceful essence of the pilgrimage, CM Yogi reminded devotees of their duty to respect others and maintain cleanliness. 'The administration has made all necessary arrangements, but it is also the responsibility of every pilgrim to ensure that no one is troubled, and no place is dirtied during the yatra,' he said, while appealing to Kanwariyas to avoid throwing litter on roads.
'If anyone attempts to take the law into their own hands or desecrate the yatra, the police must be informed immediately. The administration is on high alert,' he added.
The Chief Minister also recalled how the Kanwar Yatra was neglected before 2017 under previous governments. 'Today, you have a government that respects your faith. Let's work together to ensure this sacred event remains peaceful and respected,' he said.

VHP deploys activists to rein in miscreants tarnishing Kanwar yatra image
Lucknow: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has deployed Bajrang Dal activists across Kanwar routes in UP to identify and help police rein in "miscreants" indulging in hooliganism and thus tarnishing the image of the religious yatra. The activists assigned with the task are either carrying Kanwar themselves or are stationed at various camps --- bhandaras, health camps, sewa kendra, and 'Shayan' kendra (night shelters) --- along the routes. "They have been asked to spot the miscreants and help police in tracking them down," VHP national spokesperson Vind Bansal told TOI on Monday. He said that the workers have been asked to remain disciplined in the process. The development comes close on the heels of CM Yogi Adityanath stepping up monitoring of the Kanwar Yatra in a bid to hunt down miscreants posing as Kanwariyas allegedly to incite violence. Yogi issued clear instructions to paste posters of miscreants in public once the yatra is over. The state govt is also keeping a close watch on the yatra with the help of CCTV cameras. VHP's overdrive regarding the Kanwar Yatra follows its recent push for keeping a check on miscreants posing as seers. This recently prompted the Uttarakhand govt to launch 'Operation Kalnemi', under which more than 300 'fake' people pretending to be seers were arrested by police across six districts of the Kumaon division.

Yogi govt ensured punishment for 15k criminals in a year
Lucknow: In a strong assertion of its zero-tolerance policy towards crime, Yogi govt ensured convictions of over 15,000 criminals in one year through its 'Operation Conviction' campaign. The initiative, aimed at fast-tracking justice in heinous crimes, resulted in punishments for offenders involved in murder, rape, dacoity, loot, kidnapping and crimes under Pocso Act. Launched a year ago on the CM's directive, the campaign identified 47,149 serious criminal cases across the state. Of these, 19,584 were disposed of in courts, resulting in 15,641 convictions. According to director general of prosecution, Deepesh Juneja, the highest number of convictions was recorded under the Pocso Act and rape cases, where 6,075 criminals were sentenced out of 9,140 decided cases, achieving a conviction rate of 66.46%. In murder cases, 3,411 convicts were punished out of 4,137 trials, with a conviction rate of 82.45%. 3 held for stoking communal hatred
Lucknow: With the arrest of three people, Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday claimed to have foiled an alleged Pakistan-linked digital conspiracy to incite communal riots and possible terror attacks during the Kanwar Yatra in western UP. The miscreants were arrested for allegedly circulating morphed and inflammatory videos and audios designed to provoke communal hatred, police said. Police confirmed the footage was from Muzaffargarh in Pakistan and was related to an incident involving the murder of a woman and her seven children by her husband in April last year. The conspirators misrepresented this incident to spark communal violence. A special police team arrested Mohammed Nadeem (25), Mansher (45), and Rahees alias Furkan (35) from Kakrauli. Three mobile phones used for spreading the content were seized, and a case under relevant BNS sections and the UAPA Act has been registered. Investigations are underway to identify other collaborators, with possible links to radical outfits and Pakistani agencies, said police officers in the DGP headquarters.
