Woman behind viral Jet2 voiceover's rise to fame – from Butlins job to soaps role
If you've been on social media in the last few weeks you've probably heard a certain Jet2holidays meme audio. It quickly went viral, largely due to a TikTok trend, and people are only just realising the familiar voice behind it.
The voiceover star is Zoë Lister, who played the role of Zoe Carpenter in Hollyoaks from 2006 to 2010. After that she was a writer for Hollyoaks and some children's TV dramas for 10 years but today she is most recognisable for voicing a Jet2holidays advert that features the catchy line 'nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' with Jess Glynne's song Hold My Hand playing in the background. Zoë told Mirror she recorded this voiceover around 18 months ago but in the last few weeks it has 'just exploded around the world".
A TikTok trend has dominated the platform and it involves short clips of travel blunders and funny holiday moments with the Jet2 campaign soundtrack.
There are currently 1.4 million TikTok videos using the Jet2 jingle and more than 192,000 clips using the hashtag Jet2holidays.
What's more mind-blowing is Jet2holidays is a UK operator that only flies to destinations across Europe but the voiceover has reached global online audiences.
Zoë, who has worked on the Jet2holidays voiceovers for seven years, was completely taken by surprise when she noticed the audio had gone viral.
She said she is 'permanently astonished' and has received messages from people across the world.
The 43-year-old mum-of-two, who grew up in Redditch in the Midlands, added: 'TikTok is amazing because it reaches so many people and so many different kind of audiences are on it and responding to things and making really funny content with whatever they can find and you know I guess the voiceover because it's so relentlessly upbeat it lends itself well to parody videos.'
Zoë has even been asked to perform the voiceover on stage at festivals in the UK and shared she thinks last year was 'Brat girl summer' and 'this year is like Jet2 girl summer".
She explained she first started being sent videos in October of people using the Jet2holidays voiceover on funny travel videos and she saw a post on TikTok or Instagram of someone dressed as Jess Glynne for Halloween and someone else dressed as a flight attendant who did the voiceover.
The funniest video Zoë has seen using the viral audio meme is one of a woman on a fast rollercoaster who gets hit in the chest by a flying seagull and then realises she needs to get the bird off her.
Zoë explained: 'We (Brits) love to take the mickey out of things and finding everything funny basically but what has been surprising is the fact that the rest of the globe are in on it as well even though they don't know what a Jet2 holiday is.'
The voiceover artist revealed that initially she was unsure how Jet2 felt about the viral nature of the meme and two weeks ago she was 'crying' to her husband as she was worried that Jet2 might rebrand.
Luckily, she later found that Jet2 'have a great sense of humour' so she didn't need to worry as it has 'turned into the best ad campaign for years'.
Zoë's career started as a singer and dancer for Butlins before she moved to London and became an actress, TV writer and began doing voiceovers.
She first got involved with Jet2 when they sponsored Love Island and then she ended up doing the whole campaign.
The mum-of-two has since done many different ad campaigns for Jet2 which has kept her busy and described it as 'quite a gift of a job.'
Zoë also disclosed a new project she is working on inspired by the viral success of the Jet2 campaign: 'I am going to launch a podcast and I think it's going to be called Absurdly Camp Z Lister because I did ask Chat GPT what it was about the voiceover that people have so responded to and Chat GPT was like quite rude and said 'the absurdly camp delivery' and that phrase has really stuck with me and I'm like I'm just going to lean into this.'

Rio Ferdinand hits back at troll on wife Kate's bikini snaps after she gave a glimpse into their summer getaway
Rio Ferdinand has spoken out in support of his wife Kate after she faced online criticism for posting bikini-clad holiday snaps. The former TOWIE star, 34, gave a glimpse of her recent family holiday to Portugal on Instagram on Saturday. The post included a sweet shot of Kate and Rio holding hands by a front door, a mouthwatering spread of food, and adorable beachside fun moments. Among the carousel were two photos of Kate in bikinis - one in olive green, the other black - showing off her stunning figure as she soaked up the sun. Alongside the post she penned: 'July has been full of memories (& food) in our home from home'. But not everyone was impressed. One social media user took aim in the comments, writing: 'Don't think you need to show in a bikini [sic.].' While it's unclear which image drew the criticism, Rio, 46, wasted no time clapping back. Within minutes, he replied: '@brendaweav1 ffs Brenda, have a day off.' The podcast presenter is a stepmother to her husband Rio's three children: Lorenz, 18, Tate, 16 and Tia, 14. And she also has two children with Rio: son Cree, born in December 2020, and daughter Shae, born in 2023. It comes after Rio shed light on the early stages of his relationship with his now-wife Kate earlier this month, and admitted his kids' reaction decided the future of their union. Appearing on Kate's podcast Blended, the former footballer revealed how he dealt with introducing a new romance after losing his beloved wife Rebecca, and being left a single father to his three children. Rebecca died aged just 34 after a short battle with breast cancer. She appeared to be in the clear only for a scan to reveal the disease had spread to her bones five weeks before her death, prior to which she planned her own funeral. Amid his grief, Rio met Kate, who he began dating in 2017, however he revealed her introduction to his family was slow moving. The couple wed in Turkey in September 2019 and share two children; Cree, four, and Shae, who turns two later this month. Kate also posted a fun moment of her splashing in the sea with her son Cree and they walked through the waves along the shore Discussing introducing his relationship to his children, Rio told his wife: 'It's hard, you don't really get over it if you do it wrong, if it's done abruptly without conversations and done the wrong way. 'But if people are saying no, the kids are saying no I don't know, man. I'm just lucky, fortunately we didn't get to that point... 'But if my kids have said no, we're probably not here right now. Because we don't get the chance to get to where we are, where we're like madly in love... 'Because as soon as the kids say no - we were in love at that time, but it was still early enough to think where you go, but on both sides, you go, 'The kids ain't accepting me, I can't get into this. It's too much stress.' 'And I'm going, 'The kids ain't happy. They're going to have to be number one.' And I think there's a lot of relationships that would end up because of that... 'I don't know how you push on after you've just found someone, you fell in love with them, you two together, and the kids aren't involved in that... 'And then when they get involved and not happy, I don't know how you still move forward together like that unless you separate it.' On navigating the introduction stages, he said: ''I do think it's important in the way that you introduce this new person into the house. We very much were on the basis, we talked a lot before we even broached the idea with the kids... 'We brought Kate in as a friend first, they started seeing her around at different things that we go into friends' houses, et cetera. Kate will be there. And Ronnie, the dog, which is a great softener as well... 'But those moments of familiarity and, 'Oh, it's only Kate,' soften that next move where you go, 'Right, guys,' and you bring that. I just think we were really much about bringing them into the conversation, make them feel, have some ownership over the whole situation... ''Listen, guys, you remember Kate?' Let's see where we go then, Dad.' I think if you do it wrong, I've been in a situation, my own family recently, where it's done wrong. And I've been part of the ramifications of that and the repercussions'.

‘Absolutely not, immediately no' people cry as man proposes in Nando's with the big question written in mayonnaise
Scroll down for some top tips on how to ace a proposal I DO(N'T) 'Absolutely not, immediately no' people cry as man proposes in Nando's with the big question written in mayonnaise Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MAN has been slated for his unconventional wedding proposal, after popping the big question to his beau by writing it out in mayonnaise. We all dream of a romantic proposal, with some choosing to take their partner to an exotic location, or share an intimate moment at home. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 A man decided to propose to his girlfriend in Nandos Credit: 2 The woman didn't seem to impressed by the proposal Credit: However, one man decided to take a very unique approach to popping the question, after taking his girlfriend out to their local Nando's. Taking to TikTok, Nando's waiter Mal shared a snap of the proposal, which he recorded whilst serving the couple. "POV: When he does the bare minimum proposal at Nando's", Mal said. In the video, Mal can be seen carrying a plate of mayonnaise over to the couple. Written in curly mayo writing is the misspelt phrase: "Will you mary me?" Mal then gave the woman at the table the ring, whilst her partner can be seen smiling and not saying a word, assumedly too shy to pop the question himself. He doesn't stand up, or even get down on one knee, with Mal revealing that his legs "curled round that chair." The waiter said that the woman was left extremely perplexed by the unique proposal, and was unsure how to respond. He said that she sat confused for 10 minutes, before finally saying yes to the proposal. However, he added that they didn't even kiss after agreeing to spend the rest of their lives together, and instead just chose to hug. Love Island stars slam Dejon over 'worst exclusive proposal in show history' "He could have put way more thought into it", Mal critiqued, adding that the man had even turned up late to the proposal. The video, posted to Mal's TikTok account (@micmanmal5), has quickly gone viral, racking up 1.2 million views in just 24 hours. TikTok users raced to the comments section to share their thoughts, with many left unimpressed. One person said: "It literally doesn't cost a thing to get down on one knee and propose. How to ace a proposal Thinking of proposing? Follow this checklist by Fabulous' Deputy Editor Josie Griffiths to ensure a yes… Time it right - the average Brit waits between 18 months and two years to get engaged. But you might feel ready after six months, or decide to wait five plus years to pop the question. Only you truly know when the time's right, and this isn't a decision you want to rush. Falling in love might feel amazing but of course most relationships DON'T end in marriage - and this is for good reason… Pay attention - hopefully you haven't reached the point yet of your frustrated partner leaving their laptop open with 'hints' for rings they like. Ideally you'll want the ring to be a secret, but also something they'd happily wear - and for the rest of their life, so just a TEENY bit of pressure here. You need to be paying attention to any comments your partner makes about other people's rings, what they do and don't like, and what's most important to them - size, clarity, specific details. If you're really unsure, or if your partner hates surprises, it's best to propose with a dummy and then buy the real thing together. Family matters - tradition dictates that you ask the dad's permission for his daughter's hand in marriage, but it's not so straightforward nowadays. Maybe your partner's closer to their step-dad, or wants her mum to walk her down the aisle, in which case you'd be better off chatting to them. Maybe they'd find it weird if you went to their parents first, in which case you could ditch the whole thing. Or perhaps they're closer to their friends and the best idea would be letting your partner's best mate pick the ring. These things do matter and could come back to bite you if handled in the wrong way. Plan the setting - does your partner dread being centre of attention, or are they someone who'd be gutted if you proposed at home, berating you forever for a lack of 'effort'? Plan the place for your perfect proposal - how busy it'll be, whether you'll be able to get a good pic there, and other logistics around it. A proposal at the top of a mountain might sound good in theory but your girlfriend might not actually appreciate it when there's sweat dripping down her forehead and she's not wearing the cute dress she'd imagined for the pictures. Personally, I can't think of anything worse than a public proposal where everyone's waiting to hear your answer - in a group of friends, the middle of a restaurant or with an announcement at an event. So bear all of this in mind and remember, it's meant to be about what THEY want, not you. "You can do it in Nandos, sure, but at least get down on one knee and tell her why you want to marry her." A second person said: "Immediately, no. "The least he could do is stand up." A third said: "Absolutely not." A fourth added: "Gonna be honest here. I would pass him."

Love Is Blind star, 29, shows off results of hair transplant and reveals staggering five-figure sum it cost him
While many people head to countries like Turkey for cheaper treatment, the star said he wasn't keen on that route Hair Goals Love Is Blind star, 29, shows off results of hair transplant and reveals staggering five-figure sum it cost him Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Is Blind star Jimmy Presnell has shown off the results of his hair transplant, revealing the staggering five-figure sum it cost him. Jimmy, 29, who found fame on the Netflix dating show this year, took to TikTok to share the cost - as well as why he decided to have it done in the U.S. rather than abroad. "But there's a lot of things that come with that, and I'll explain that as well.' In the video, Jimmy told his nearly 90,000 followers that he booked in with Solve Clinics, based in the River North area of Chicago. He added: 'They charge roughly $5 a graft. I had a little over 2,000 grafts, I think 2,100 or 2,200. So roughly 10, 11 grand for the procedure." While many people head to countries like Turkey for cheaper treatment, Jimmy said he wasn't keen on that route. He said: 'When I was going through the evaluation process, I was getting quotes anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000. 'It included flight, it included hotel, all that good stuff, but there was no ongoing consultation or talking to your surgeon. "So they just pretty much send you home after the surgery. You don't really have any type of relationship.' Alongside the transplant itself, he's also been paying for extra treatments to boost the results. He explained: 'I have been doing PRP, which I've made some videos on that and what that kind of entails, and those typically run anywhere from 400 to $600,' referring to platelet-rich plasma therapy. First look at Love Is Blind UK series two with Matt and Emma Willis as Netflix reveals launch date Jimmy first documented the procedure back in December, posting daily updates as he healed. Just three days after going under the knife, he revealed: 'It's swollen bad. It hurts to smile, it hurts to laugh. My head definitely feels super dry.' He also made it clear the goal wasn't to wind the clock back completely, adding: 'I didn't want to try to have a hairline of a 17 or 18-year-old. It's not realistic. "I wanted to look my age and have thicker, healthier-looking hair. That's the goal here.' More recently, Jimmy marked the six-month point since surgery by posting a progress update on Instagram for his 274,000 followers. 'Officially 6 months post hair transplant with @solveclinics,' he captioned the clip. 'Super excited where I'm at already! Even more excited to see where it'll go!' Leaning in to show his new hairline, he told viewers: 'I saw a ton of growth in months four, five, and six.' And now? 'It's getting thicker and thicker as the days go on.' Jimmy shot to fame earlier this year when he appeared on Love Is Blind, where his ex-fiancée Chelsea made headlines for comparing herself to Megan Fox. Hair Loss 101 HAIR pro Samantha Cusick has revealed everything you need to know about hair loss. Why Does Hair Loss Happen? Hair loss can be influenced by so many factors, from genetics and hormone changes to lifestyle choices. Stress, diet, and even hair care habits can all impact hair strength. It's perfectly normal to lose some hair each day, but sometimes the body can shed more than usual, responding to things like hormonal shifts or even life stressors. Why It Happens More This Time of Year Have you ever noticed your hair seems to shed more in autumn? That's seasonal shedding! During summer, we hold onto extra hair to protect our scalp from the sun. As the weather cools, it's like our body recalibrates and lets go of those extra strands. Dry, cooler air can also make hair more brittle, making it easier to lose a little extra volume during these months. Hacks and Affordable Buys to Treat Hair loss The great news? You don't need to spend a fortune on pricey treatments to support your hair. Try daily scalp massages—they're so simple but really help boost blood flow to the follicles. Castor oil is another fantastic, budget-friendly option that's rich in nutrients to strengthen your strands. Adding a bit more protein to your diet and a biotin supplement can also work wonders for overall hair health. Products to Avoid Steer clear of products with high levels of alcohol, sulphates, and parabens - they can be drying and damage hair over time. Heat styling and chemical treatments can also cause breakage, so try to use them sparingly. Instead, look for gentle, hydrating formulas to support your scalp and keep hair healthier through the seasons. 4 Jimmy paid $11k for the procedure Credit: Instagram 4 He is pictured on the day of the op Credit: Instagram
