How Much Does 'The Golden Bachelor' Get Paid? Salary Details
Mel kicked off his career with the LA Rams and was with them for nine full years. Can't speak to his specific pay, but the minimum yearly salary for a NFL player is ~$795,000 (and can reach into the high millions), so seems fair to assume Mel was doing juuuuuust fine. Plus, he became a sports injury lawyer post retirement. How much does he have in the bank, you ask? Celebrity Net Worth puts Mel's net worth at $2 million.
ABC has never confirmed what they pay talent, but there's been a lot of information leaked over the years. Amy Kaufman reported in her 2018 book Bachelor Nation that it's "incredibly rare for someone to make less than six figures."
There are also rumors that Bachelor Sean Lowe made $75,000 to $90,000 for his season, while Emily Maynard made history negotiating $250,000 for her season.
Just keep in mind that Sean and Emily's seasons aired over a decade ago in 2012/2013, so you'd think rates have only gone up since then. But...maybe not?
More recently (but still several years ago in 2021), Jason Tartick revealed that he, Colton Underwood, and Blake Horstmann were offered $100,000 to star on The Bachelor. And Dean Unglert revealed that he was offered $75,000.
POINT IS: Chances are Mel will likely be paid somewhere around $100,000 for The Golden Bachelor.
If Mel Owens falls in love and agrees to a televised wedding, ABC will write him yet another check. According to Slate, Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum were reportedly paid $250,000 for their wedding in 2012, while Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici earned six figures for their wedding a few years later in 2014.
While ABC pays their leads, contestants don't earn money on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and there's no reason to assume The Golden Bachelor operates differently. As Ashley Iaconetti put it, "You don't get paid as one of the girls on The Bachelor."
In fact, contestants often lose money to be on the show due to having to purchase their own wardrobe, and in some cases taking time off or even quitting their jobs! However, they do get paid to go on Bachelor in Paradise (around $400 to $800 a day), and of course there are the inevitable endorsement deals that start rolling in.
The Golden Bachelor season 2 premieres September 24, 2025 on ABC.

Travis Kelce Doesn't Fit Into Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds' ‘Curated' World, ‘Source' Says
Travis Kelce seemingly never clicked with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively despite their closeness with Taylor Swift. Earlier this year, reports alleged the NFL star unfollowed the 'Deadpool' star after his girlfriend got involved in Lively's legal drama with Justin Baldoni. Kelce and Swift, who once went on double dates and attended the Super Bowl with the married pair, have since maintained their distance. Now, a source claimed that the athlete never fit into the Hollywood couple's 'curated' world. Travis Kelce believes in living his life frill-free, says 'source' Rob Shuter #ShuterScoop learned that Travis Kelce has maintained his distance from Ryan Reynolds amid rumored tensions between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift. A source claimed that he had never been a fan of the celebrity couple despite their previous closeness. Kelce reportedly believes in living his life frill-free and thinks Reynolds is 'more Hollywood than human.' These new claims emerged months after he unfollowed the actor on Instagram. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has remained distant from the couple with whom he and Swift once shared romantic date nights. Additionally, the insider believes that he finds the Marvel star 'funny' and insincere at the same time. They alleged that Kelce doesn't fit into their 'curated celebrity world' and prefers a 'grounded' and 'Midwest' life without any 'frills.' Moreover, he has always been 'Team Taylor,' and never 'afraid to show it.' Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift once went on double dates with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. However, there have been rumors of tensions between the two couples since Lively filed the lawsuit against her sexual harassment lawsuit against her 'It Ends With Us' co-star Justin Baldoni in December. Baldoni then responded with a $400 million countersuit, named-dropped Swift in the filings, and even subpoenaed her in the following months. Both Kelce and the Grammy winner have since stepped back from their close connection with Lively and Reynolds. Reports have even alleged that the two friends' decade-long friendship has reached a point where it's beyond repair. In some updates surrounding the legal drama, Baldoni's team withdrew his subpoena to Swift, and a judge dismissed his countersuit. Aaron Rodgers suggests he heeded advice of mystery wife's sister-in-law before signing with Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has kept his personal life very close to the chest and criticized anyone who has tried to pry into it over the last few months. Rodgers has said he is married to a woman who is a very private person and has attempted to keep a barrier between what goes on behind closed doors and everyone trying to take a peek. However, The Athletic reported on Friday that Rodgers had taken advice from his sister-in-law about whether to sign with the Steelers. "I was taking orders from my (new) sister-in-law, Mia," he told the outlet. "She's 20 and she's the brains of the family; you just have to ask her. No — but that is partially serious for sure," he continued. "Every team that I talked to, I said, 'Listen, if I play, I'm not going to take a ton of money. I've made a ton of money. I don't need the money.'" The four-time MVP is married to a woman named Brittani, but not much else is known about her. Rodgers hasn't been keen on divulging information. He vented about the "sick society" of the paparazzi trying to get a glimpse of her, in an interview on "The Pat McAfee Show" back in June. "I had people calling the paparazzi. I had people posting personal life on the internet. Now, I didn't want any of that, didn't like doing that, and now I'm with somebody who's private, who doesn't want to be in the public eye, didn't sign up to be a celebrity, doesn't want to be a part of it," Rodgers began. "And because I do things in private, because I want my personal life to be private, now I'm weird. "What happened to common decency about security and a personal life that we now have to dive into your details of where you live and what you're doing, who you're with and what you're doing and who your wife is, if you even have a wife, if you're doing some sort of attention-grabbing thing? Because my wife is a private person, doesn't have social media, hasn't been a public person, doesn't want to be a public person, and that's somehow now a weird thing? . . . . "The entitlement to information about my private life is so f---ing ridiculous and embarrassing. Hey, do what you gotta do. Just try and leave me out of a conversation, sports world, for a month. Try to leave me out, my personal life, my professional life. Try not to talk about me. Try to still be relevant for the next six weeks, five weeks, whatever it is. See if you can do that." Rodgers' one-year deal is reportedly worth $13.65 million. He's made clear that the 2025 season could very well be his last, and the Steelers have made sure to put a team around him that is worthy of challenging for the postseason. Pittsburgh added wide receivers DK Metcalf and Robert Woods to the roster as well as tight end Jonnu Smith. The team traded Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins for Jalen Ramsey, added Darius Slay and Juan Thornhill and drafted Derrick Harmon.
