Winnipeg police looking for teen after machete attack in Polo Park area
Winnipeg police are looking for a young suspect after a man was attacked with a machete outside a 7-Eleven near the Polo Park area. Officers were called Thursday at around 10:45 p.m. to the convenience store in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue, police said in a release Sunday. The suspect had fled on foot before police arrived, the release said. He is believed to have been with two other teenagers when the assault occurred. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police said a passerby had helped the man by using a belt as a makeshift tourniquet. The suspect is described as being about 15 to 17 years old, of skinny build with shaggy dark hair. Police said he is between five feet six inches and five feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a black Tupac t-shirt, torn black jeans, and dark sandals with white or grey socks. The suspect was also carrying a grey backpack.

(Jacob Estrin/CTV News Toronto) Two people are in hospital in life-threatening condition following what police area calling a 'serious,' multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Mississauga early Sunday morning. The crash happened on the westbound express lanes near Dixie Road. Police say emergency responders were called to that area just before 2 a.m. OPP officers were already performing CPR on one person when fire crews arrived. Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, of the OPP, later told CP24 that the patients were taken to a trauma centre with critical injuries and that they remain in hospital. No further update on their condition is available at this time. Officers responded to the assault on July 3 at 10:44 p.m. in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue. According to police, the victim was attacked by an unknown suspect with a machete, leading to serious injuries. A passerby used a belt as a makeshift tourniquet to help the victim before emergency crews arrived. Officers from the West District applied a second tourniquet. The victim was moved to hospital in stable condition. The suspect remains at large. He is described as a male between 15 and 17 years old, approximately 5'6' to 5'10' tall, with a slim build, light complexion, and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black Tupac T-shirt, ripped black jeans, dark sandals with white or grey socks, and carrying a grey backpack. Police say he was accompanied by two other teens at the time of the assault.
