Traffic diversions on major routes in Klang Valley for 58th Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic on three highways and 15 main roads in the Klang Valley will be diverted in stages from 8 to 11 July in conjunction with the 58th Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) and Related Meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
Federal Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Yusri Hassan Basri said the affected routes comprised roads into and out of the federal capital, as well as routes to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and hotels where delegates will be staying.
He said a dry run for the motorcade, covering routes from the airport to the respective hotels in Kuala Lumpur and the KLCC, would be conducted from today until Sunday involving 391 traffic personnel.
"Road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance and are encouraged to use public transport in support of the event.
"Commercial and heavy vehicles are advised not to enter the city centre during the road diversion period, particularly during peak hours, to prevent congestion and reduce the risk of breakdowns and accidents," he said in a statement here today.

Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Timor-Leste's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, landed at the Bunga Raya Complex at 7.30 pm, while Laos' Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane arrived at 8.08 pm. Earlier, Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma Theresa P. Lazaro touched down at 5.10 pm, followed by Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son, and his wife Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, who arrived at 5.35 pm. Thailand Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and his wife Kokan Sangiampongsa landed at 8 pm. The 58th AMM and related meetings, a key annual event in the ASEAN calendar, will be hosted by Malaysia under its 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme, 'Inclusivity and Sustainability'. SEPANG: One of the region's most significant diplomatic gatherings is taking shape in Malaysia, as foreign ministers from Asean and its key partners arrived on Monday for the 58th Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) and related meetings, which will kick off on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur. Among those who arrived on Monday were Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, who was received at the Bunga Raya Complex at 2.07pm, and Brunei's Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato Seri Setia Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mohd Yusof, who landed earlier at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 at 11.30am. Brazil's Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs, Maria Laura da Rocha, arrived at 3.24pm, while Asean Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn landed at 2pm. KUALA LUMPUR: Efforts are underway to ensure Kuala Lumpur's cleanliness, safety, and comfort as the city hosts the 58th Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) from July 8 to 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, announced that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), alongside various related agencies, is committed to maintaining the city's image for the Asean delegations and visitors. "We are fully aware that Kuala Lumpur is hosting numerous regional programmes and meetings as Malaysia chairs Asean this year," Dr Zaliha noted. "DBKL has already implemented numerous initiatives to uphold the city's cleanliness. However, it is important to stress that this is not solely the responsibility of local authorities—other stakeholders must also contribute." Dr Zaliha made these remarks while presenting keys to 10 Dapur Digital (cloud kitchen) entrepreneurs at Menara DBKL today (July 7). The 58th AMM will see the participation of foreign ministers from all 10 Asean member states, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Joining them will be Asean Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn of Cambodia and the Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste, as the latter country pursues its Asean membership. Kuala Lumpur is not just focusing on cleanliness but also enhancing its infrastructure to accommodate the influx of international guests. The local government has been working diligently to ensure seamless transport and hospitality services during the event. Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Dr Zaliha called upon businesses, residents, and local organisations to actively participate in maintaining the city's appeal. This collective effort is aimed at showcasing Kuala Lumpur as a vibrant and welcoming city, capable of hosting significant international events.
