New England advances to face fellow Major League Soccer original Chicago, which routed Detroit City of the USL Championship, 4-0. Sixteen MLS teams entered the domestic knockout competition in this week's fourth round, with all but one — New York City FC, which lost to the Championship's Pittsburgh Riverhounds — winning.

The hosts broke the ice on the banks of the Seekonk River through Rodriguez, one of just four USLC midfielders to score in double digits out of the midfield last season. He deftly slotted a Noah Fuson cross inside the post past a diving Bono, a 10-year MLS veteran signed in December to back up Aljaz Ivacic.

Porter used Revolution II regulars Eric Klein, Liam Butts, Diarbian, and Oliveira off the bench in the second half, with Diaz playing 75 minutes and both Urruti and Chancalay 87.
New England will seek a fifth straight MLS victory on Saturday night, when it visits Orlando City.

Louth beat Antrim to win All-Ireland Junior title
Antrim were denied a first All-Ireland Junior Football Championship since 2022 after losing to Louth by 0-13 to 1-9 at Croke Park. Bronagh Devlin netted a third-minute penalty for the Saffrons after Theresa Mellon was fouled within the square. Aoife Russell cancelled out another swift point by Mellon, but Antrim extended their advantage through Omolara Dahunsi. Dahunsi responded to back-to-back points from Louth forwards Russell and Ceire Nolan, and the Saffrons' advantage was cut further after Kate Flood and Shannen McLaughlin capitalised on Devlin's yellow card. Ajax and Birmingham City agree Akpom loan
According to Voetbal International's Tim van Duijn, Birmingham City will sign Chuba Akpom on loan from Ajax with a permanent option if the club go up to the Premier League. Akpom was acquired from Middlesbrough in 2023 for around 12 million euros, but never fully took off at Ajax. The striker was useful as a super-sub and found praise for his unwavering commitment. However, he is a high earner and was therefore at the top of the list to leave. Although Ajax preferred to sell Akpom, that wasn't feasible in the short term. By loaning him out, Ajax still saves a significant amount on wages. Birmingham City will also pay a loan fee. Last season, Akpom spent time on loan at Lille, where he scored three goals in 14 Ligue 1 games. Glamorgan captain Northeast plans contract talks
Glamorgan championship captain Sam Northeast is to have contract talks with the club's management over extending his four-year stay at the county. Northeast, 34, is out of contract at the end of the season and is also wanted by several other counties. He has led Glamorgan within striking distance of promotion in the four-day format, scoring 780 runs in 10 matches in the current campaign. But Northeast's family home, with two young children, remains in his native county of Kent where he spent his first 11 seasons as a professional before moving to Hampshire. "I'm going to meet with Wally (director of cricket Mark Wallace) and Daws (coach Richard Dawson), and hopefully come up with something," he told BBC Sport Wales. "There's time left in the season and I'm fully focussed on doing as well as possible for Glamorgan." Any move away from Glamorgan for Northeast is likely to be prompted by his family situation rather than any playing reasons. "I've just had another little one, there wasn't much sleep before the game at Lancashire, and I'll probably be going back to that situation as well. That's where it is, but I'm thoroughly enjoying my cricket at the minute," Northeast said. He is expecting to sit out the first couple of One Day Cup matches but return for the bulk of the group campaign, after not featuring in the T20 Blast for the first time. Former Gloucestershire and England Lions coach Dawson looks set to remain at Glamorgan, after being hastily appointed in January following the surprise departure of Grant Bradburn. The county is yet to announce any arrivals, departures or contract renewals for 2026.
