Hibs host Bolton Wanderers this afternoon in Darren McGregor's testimonial
The match will kick-off at 2pm and will commemorate McGregor's magnificent service to the Club as both a Scottish Cup-winning defender and as the head coach of the Under-19s side.
While McGregor can sadly no longer play in the match, he will still meet supporters inside Easter Road Stadium, and in the hospitality suites, alongside walking out onto the pitch for an interview to thank the Hibs fans for their support.
Bolton Wanderers will compete in the English third tier this upcoming season after finishing eighth last season, with a tough end to their 2024/25 league campaign seeing them place two spots outside the promotion play-off positions.
Aaron Collins, the Wanderers' 2024/25 top scorer, has since departed for MK Dons, though the English club have brought in Sam Dalby, who Hibs fans will recognise from his loan spell at Dundee United last season.
Steven Schumacher's first team squad have played three friendlies so far this summer, most recently defeating Barrow 1-0 just four days after defeating South African outfit Orlando Pirates 2-0 in Marbella, Spain.
The last time the two sides met was in a pre-season friendly back in 2007! Steven Fletcher opened the scoring for the Hibees with David Murphy and Abdessalam Benjelloun also on target at Easter Road.

The signing of prolific goalscorer Viktor Gyokeres has Mikel Arteta hopeful his side can finally land the Premier League season, but the Spaniard has been sent one warning over his new Swedish star Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been warned by Rio Ferdinand that Viktor Gyokeres ' underwhelming record against top teams could pose a problem. Claims that the player is a flat-track bully will no doubt concern Arteta, with Arsenal struggling to score against teams in the top of half of the Premier League last year, as they ultimately finished second behind Liverpool. Ferdinand, while fully confident Gyokeres will score plenty for Arsenal, did air his concerns over his record against the top teams. "That would be a flag for me," Ferdinand said. "I don't think it would determine if I'd take him, but it would be something where I'd go, 'Let me just look back further down the line' - and then what's the reason? "We watched a game together he played in, against Man City, and we watched the game against Arsenal together as well. Against Arsenal he played against two machines, Saliba and Gabriel, they made it a hard day's work for him and they do for most strikers. So, physically if he matches, what else has he got? That's the question I'm asking now. "Then he played against Man City, he looked menacing, he looked good [but] played against an 18-year-old centre half [Jahmai Simpson-Pusey]. [Manuel] Akanji played against him and didn't play that well against him either, so it skewered the 'oh, he can do it against English teams' for me. "There are question marks, but I just feel, for Arsenal, he's going to get so many more looks on goal, I don't think it's a big gamble for Arsenal. As long as he doesn't go looking for football outside the box too much. Stay in and around the penalty box and the ball will come." Concerns are ongoing after the very same attributes that saw Arteta prioritise the striker are now seemingly forcing the Gunners' boss to already make a tactical shift in pre-season in order to adapt to the striker. ESPN reported the Spaniard has told his players to get the ball forward as quickly as possible to utilise his strengths, with Gyokeres yet to score for Arsenal in pre-season. Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker also shared his concerns, with the ex-Match of the Day host branding Gyokeres' transfer as a "gamble". Gyokeres won the golden boot In the Primeira Liga last year with 39 goals while his side clinched a second successive title. Yet he only scored twice in eight league games against Benfica, who finished in second, Porto who finished third and against Braga and Santa Clara, who ended up fourth and fifth respectively. Those stats present a worry to Arteta's given his team averaged 2.05 goals per game against bottom-half sides in 2024/25 compared to 1.55 against top-half opponents. The Gunners also had a 70% win rate against the bottom-half teams and only 33% against the top half. However, they will be encouraged by Gyokeres scoring six goals in the Champions League, including a memorable hat-trick against City in November 2024. He also scored a crucial late goal to beat Benfica in the Portuguese cup final, showing he can operate as a clutch player when his team really needs it. It could have been a tough day for Hibs as we opened our league season campaign at Dens Park on Sunday. The heroics and ultimate disappointment from the side on Thursday night must have taken its toll mentally and physically on David Gray's Gray made only one change to his starting line-up and this tells us a lot about the standards he's setting at Hibs. It would have been easy to give the players a break, rotate the squad and give a run out to some fringe players, however Gray threw down the gauntlet to his starters and told them he expected them to step up to the plate and prove some doubters of course, they did. Again. The packed away end launched into this season's favourite number - "Hibs away, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it!" - as the players took the applause at the end of a very, very comfortable win (don't be fooled by the narrow scoreline, Hibs bossed the game from first to last whistle).Something very special is brewing at Hibernian. Rio Ferdinand makes thoughts clear on Arsenal star – 'The best talent since Wayne Rooney'
Rio Ferdinand had numerous battles with Arsenal throughout his career, but the Manchester United legend has become excited by one talent at the Gunners Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal's teenage sensation Max Dowman is the most exciting English talent since Wayne Rooney. Dowman, despite not even being old enough to sit his GCSEs, has been exciting Premier League fans this pre-season. In a summer featuring the arrivals of stars like Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and others, the player Arsenal fans may be most excited by is a 15-year-old in their academy system. Dowman was included on the north Londoners' pre-season tour of Asia, where he may have presumed he was only there for the experience. But Mikel Arteta deployed him in their friendlies against AC Milan, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, where he immediately made an impression. Dowman, who was born in 2009, has already impressed Declan Rice and Arteta with his mature displays. Ferdinand, who won his fourth Premier League title the year Dowman was born, has been so captivated by the teen, he thinks he is just as exciting as a young Rooney was. Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, the ex-England captain said: "Dowman excites me on another level. This kid is different." When co-host Joel Beya told Ferdinand, who already sang Dowman's praises last month, that some people are calling the teenager the best talent England has produced since Rooney, he instantly replied: "Yes. I am saying the same thing.' After Beya suggested Ferdinand should take it easy with such a comparison, he hit back: "What? Have you seen him? They're different. This kid is not Rooney. "Just let me put it out there, he is not Rooney. He is not built. He hasn't got a hairy chest. He hasn't got a beard at the age of 16. Rooney was a man. A man-child.' Rooney was responsible for perhaps the most spectacular breakthrough in Premier League history when he made his Everton debut at the age of 16. He came off the bench against Arsenal and crashed home a strike from 30 yards, which smashed off the underside of the crossbar on its way into the net in 2003. He went on to become United and England's highest-ever goalscorer, until Harry Kane broke the latter record in an away clash against Italy in 2023. While Ferdinand has compared the breakouts of Rooney and Dowman, he did insist they are different types of players. He added: "The thing with Wayne Rooney is that he had guile, but he came on with brute force. He was like, 'You're going to know about me because I'm going to force it down your throat.' "This kid is more subtle, more technical. All he is going to do is have people on ice skates, slipping and sliding everywhere. Very rarely do you see a player actually get near him and touch him. "He is that elusive. He's a player who will excite you, get you off your seat. You'll be going, 'Have you seen that?' He's making defenders into memes.' Dowman is yet to make his full, competitive senior debut for the Gunners, but he appears to have a great chance this season. Arteta has a record of promoting youngsters, having made Ethan Nwaneri the youngest player in Premier League history when he brought him on during a 3-0 victory at Brentford in 2022, aged just 15 years and 181 days old.
