A British engineering company with links to Formula One has announced a new division 'dedicated to end-to-end full vehicle programmes'. Which, in HumanSpeak, means: some very clever people will build you an entire supercar.
Not for free, of course, but not for an exorbitant amount, either. It's the work of newly-formed Dash Bespoke – part of Dash – and isn't exorbitant because each supercar, or hypercar, or racing car, will be spun off the company's TR01 carbon fibre monocoque.

That's the thing we first told you about back in 2023. It's a two-seater configuration that's stiff, cheap, weighs just 48kg and can house anything from V8 powerhouses to a load of batteries.
Now, Dash Bespoke's new job is to build the rest of the car around this monocoque. It's done just that for a client, and we'll see DB's first ever full car at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. You might like
It's called 'SlipStream' (yes, bit on the nose but we'll take it), and while we don't know what it'll look like on top, these pics show what it'll look like underneath. So it's a mid-engined supercar wearing a V8 from New Zealand's Hartley (who did the V12 for the Nilu27), with bespoke carbon fibre subframes, light alloy suspension components, and Nitron dampers, to name just four things.
You of course, can spec anything you want within the confines of this stiff, lightweight TR01 chassis, making it easier to get your limited edition, two-seater super-hyper-toy off the ground. Dash boss Tim Robathan acknowledged the pitfalls associated with trying to engineer and manufacture something like this from scratch.

'For many brands and visionaries, these obstacles can halt progress and project viability,' he said. 'That is why we have established Dash Bespoke.
'Leveraging our proven TR01 monocoque and extensive in-house engineering expertise, we can manage projects from end to end,' he added.
We'll show you the finished car as soon as it's ready, so in the meantime, why not configure your ideal super-hyper-toy using the TR01 chassis, below. Starter for ten: nat-asp mid-mounted V6, rear-wheel-drive, six-speed manual, passive dampers, Alfa SZ-alike body.

NATO fund backs biotech startup in push to counter biological threats
STOCKHOLM, June 30 (Reuters) - The NATO Innovation Fund has made its first investment in a biotechnology company, it said on Monday, seeking to enhance defences against biological threats The fund is co-leading a $35 million fundraising round for Portal Biotech, which uses protein sequencing to detect engineered threats and defend against biological warfare. UK-based Portal Biotech's capability is essential for biosecurity defence and security, said Ana Bernardo-Gancedo, senior associate at NATO Innovation Fund. "We believe that it is absolutely imperative that we are able to detect, monitor and create countermeasures," she said. The fund, created in 2022 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, plans to invest more than $1 billion in technologies that would enhance NATO's defences. Portal Biotech uses an AI-backed technology with biological sensors that can work at the single molecule level on-site, giving results within hours. "It's for everything from measuring diseases to better pandemic prevention ... you can take this out of large labs with long turnaround times and into the field," CEO Andy Heron told Reuters. Heron said the company's instruments can detect any pathogen and can be used for continuous monitoring of anything from a field to water supply. "It allows you not just to detect what you did know was out there, but it allows you to detect what you didn't know," he said. Beyond biosecurity, Portal Biotech expects its portable equipment to aid in drug discovery and precision medicine. The company's investors include Earlybird Venture Capital, Science Creates VC, Pillar VC, 8VC, We VC and British Business Bank.

Fuel margins remain high despite lower prices at the pump, watchdog finds
Drivers are still being hit with high fuel margins despite lower prices at the pump, the competition watchdog has said. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said retailers' margins – the difference between what they pay for fuel and what they sell it at – remained high compared to historic levels. Fuel prices across the UK fell for both petrol and diesel over the three months to the end of May by 7.6 pence per litre (ppl) and 8.4 ppl respectively. But the CMA found that fuel margins were similar to the high levels seen during its road fuel market study – a review of the market to understand the factors influencing fuel prices undertaken in 2023 – which suggested overall competition in the UK's road fuel retail market remained 'weak'. Supermarket fuel margins fell from 8.9% in December 2024 to 7.9% in February 2025, before rising to 8.3% in March 2025, the regulator found. Non-supermarket fuel margins fell from 9.9% in December 2024 to 8.9% in January 2025, before rising to 10.4% in March 2025. The CMA also looked at the retail spread – the average price that drivers pay at the pump compared to the benchmarked price that retailers buy fuel at – across the UK from March 2025 to May 2025. It found that petrol retail spreads averaged 15.4 ppl, which was 1.5 ppl higher than the previous four-month period – and still more than double the average of 6.5 ppl over 2015 to 2019. Diesel retail spreads averaged 18.8 ppl, which was 4.6 ppl higher than the previous four-month period and more than double the average of 8.6 ppl in 2015 to 2019. Dan Turnbull, senior director of markets at the CMA, said: 'While there is uncertainty over how global events will impact the price of oil, our report shows fuel margins remain high compared to historic levels despite lower prices at the pump in recent months. 'The Government committed to launching a 'fuel finder' scheme following our recommendation to help drivers compare real-time prices and boost competition. 'Once launched, it will make it easier than ever to shop around and find the best deals.'

Three confirms if mobile customers hit by huge outage will get compensation
MOBILE provider Three has confirmed whether customers will get compensation following a huge outage last week. The Sun understands customers will now be given compensation on a case-by-case basis. The issue began at 8am on Wednesday and more than 9,300 issues were logged on outage detection site Downdetector. The vast majority of reports were people struggling to make phone calls. Angry customers began complaining on social media, with one person saying: "What's going on with the network guys? I can't receive or make calls." Another said: "No incoming or outgoing calls are becoming regular occurrences now. Time to switch." Three said during the outage: "We're aware of an issue affecting voice services and are working hard to fix it. " Data services are working normally. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."
