Want Your Own Custom Supercar? This Company Will Build It
Supercars are expensive, and more often than not, you're limited to one powertrain option and one body style, with very little wiggle room for full-on customization. That is, unless you're willing to throw an obscene amount of money at a company like Ferrari or Lamborghini. But a British engineering firm wants to make that process a bit easier—and, hopefully, a bit cheaper, too. A company called Dash Bespoke—a spinoff of Dash, an engineering firm that's been working in racing since 2006—will build you a custom supercar virtually from the ground up. Using its TR01 carbon fiber monocoque chassis, which debuted in 2023, buyers will be able to pick and choose from a variety of powertrains, custom body styles, interiors, and more. Photo by: Dash Bespoke The TR01 platform, Dash notes, is lightweight, stiff, and completely Euro NCAP compliant—which means it is road legal in the UK. It works with batteries and V-8s alike, and customers can spec it to become a road-going supercar, hypercar, or a custom race car. The first customer-built supercar based on Dash's TR01 platform will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this summer. The so-called "SlipStream" will have a mid-engined V-8 built by Hartley in New Zealand (the same company responsible for the Nilu27 's engine), with bespoke carbon fibre subframes, a light alloy suspension, and hydraulic dampers from Nitron. "Bringing a bespoke or low-volume performance vehicle to life is a monumental undertaking," says Dash CEO Tim Robathan. Photo by: Dash Bespoke "Whether it's an OEM motorsport project or a niche hypercar, the engineering, manufacturing, and assembly challenges and associated risks are high. For many brands and visionaries, these obstacles can halt progress and project viability. That is why we have established Dash Bespoke." Dash doesn't say how much your dream custom supercar will cost you. We can't imagine it's cheap. But given the existing platform and Dash's engineering expertise, it's still likely a far more affordable option than going to Ferrari. And far more customizable, too. This company will build you a cheap, lightweight, two-seater turnkey supercar
First Look What would *you* build using Dash's two-seat monocoque? Skip 7 photos in the image carousel and continue reading A British engineering company with links to Formula One has announced a new division 'dedicated to end-to-end full vehicle programmes'. Which, in HumanSpeak, means: some very clever people will build you an entire supercar. Not for free, of course, but not for an exorbitant amount, either. It's the work of newly-formed Dash Bespoke – part of Dash – and isn't exorbitant because each supercar, or hypercar, or racing car, will be spun off the company's TR01 carbon fibre monocoque. Advertisement - Page continues below That's the thing we first told you about back in 2023. It's a two-seater configuration that's stiff, cheap, weighs just 48kg and can house anything from V8 powerhouses to a load of batteries. Now, Dash Bespoke's new job is to build the rest of the car around this monocoque. It's done just that for a client, and we'll see DB's first ever full car at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. You might like It's called 'SlipStream' (yes, bit on the nose but we'll take it), and while we don't know what it'll look like on top, these pics show what it'll look like underneath. So it's a mid-engined supercar wearing a V8 from New Zealand's Hartley (who did the V12 for the Nilu27), with bespoke carbon fibre subframes, light alloy suspension components, and Nitron dampers, to name just four things. You of course, can spec anything you want within the confines of this stiff, lightweight TR01 chassis, making it easier to get your limited edition, two-seater super-hyper-toy off the ground. Dash boss Tim Robathan acknowledged the pitfalls associated with trying to engineer and manufacture something like this from scratch. Advertisement - Page continues below 'For many brands and visionaries, these obstacles can halt progress and project viability,' he said. 'That is why we have established Dash Bespoke. 'Leveraging our proven TR01 monocoque and extensive in-house engineering expertise, we can manage projects from end to end,' he added. We'll show you the finished car as soon as it's ready, so in the meantime, why not configure your ideal super-hyper-toy using the TR01 chassis, below. Starter for ten: nat-asp mid-mounted V6, rear-wheel-drive, six-speed manual, passive dampers, Alfa SZ-alike body. Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter.
