Gulzar House fire victims' family allege delayed response by Fire Department, Hospital
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 31 (ANI): Family members of the 17 victims who lost their lives in the Gulzar House fire have demanded a formal inquiry into the incident, alleging lapses by both the fire department and hospital authorities.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Santosh Gupta, a relative of one of the deceased, accused the fire department of not responding promptly to the emergency and claimed that fire personnel were not equipped with adequate apparatus to handle the situation.
Another family member, Nitish Gupta, alleged that medical assistance at the hospital was also delayed.
'There was no paramedical staff in the ambulance. All the casualties occurred due to suffocation,' the family members said, expressing deep frustration over the response from emergency services.
The family members demanded justice from the High Court and requested an investigation into the matter.
'I want justice from the High Court, and I want a judicial committee to see what is right and what is wrong,' Santosh Gupta said.
Meanwhile, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of May 18, when a massive fire broke out in a building in the Gulzar House area, near Charminar in the old city of Hyderabad. At least 17 people, including eight children, were killed in the blaze.
An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs has been announced by the state government for the families of the victims who lost their lives in the fire incident at Gulzar House.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the victims.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the mishap, from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
On May 20, the Telangana government constituted a six-member high-level committee to investigate the recent fire incident at Gulzar House near Charminar. (ANI)

With an eye on civic body elections, Maharashtra deputy chief minister, who also holds the finance portfolio, Ajit Pawar on Monday tabled supplementary demands of Rs 57,509 crore on the first day of the monsoon session of Maharashtra state legislative assembly. Interestingly, a huge chunk of the funds, running to Rs 17, 465 crore, has been allocated to urban development department to improve infrastructure in urban local bodies. This gains significance in view of the upcoming elections to 29 civic bodies. The supplementary demand for grants is a request made to the legislative assembly for funds beyond what was originally allocated in the annual budget. During the last budget as well, finance minister Ajit Pawar had tabled the supplementary demands worth Rs 6,480.20 crore despite objections from the opposition. The demands include Rs 19,183 crore for mandatory expenses while Rs 34,661 crore for state government schemes and programs and Rs 36,664 crore for central government sponsored schemes and programs. Rs 11,042.76 crore has been earmarked for various grants as per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission. Next to urban development, public works department (PWD) has been allocated Rs 9068 crore to foot the bill of road contractors and execute various projects. The social justice department has been allocated Rs 3798 crore. The cooperative, marketing and textile department has been allotted Rs 2835 crore and the woman and child development department, Rs 2363 crore.

PM condoles Sangareddy factory fire victims, announces ex-gratia
New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grief over the loss of lives in a massive fire incident at a factory in Sangareddy district of Telangana. In a post shared by the Prime Minister's Office on social media platform X, Modi said he was "anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy" and offered condolences to the bereaved families. "May the injured recover soon," he added. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be provided to the next of kin of those who died in the incident. Those injured will receive Rs 50,000, said the statement from the Government. Six people were killed and 20 others injured, some of them critically, following an explosion in a chemical reactor at a factory in the Pashamylaram industrial area of Sangareddy district in Telangana this to police, the explosion occurred at Sigachi Industries, triggering a massive fire that engulfed parts of the facility. The Supreme Court has declined to entertain a petition seeking directions to hand over the control and management of Bihar's Mahabodhi Mahavira temple in Bodh Gaya to Buddhists. The bench, however, said that the petitioner could approach the Patna High Court instead. The petition was filed by former Maharashtra minister Sulekha Kumbhare, who sought amendments to the Bodh Gaya Temple Act 1949. The Act states that a committee constituted by the Bihar government will look after the 'management and control' of the Mahabodhi temple and its property. The law says that the committee should include eight members nominated by the state government and four of them should be Hindus. The district magistrate will double as the chairman of the committee, provided the official is a Hindu.
