EV charging points must for all new housing societies
This provision is part of the revised building bylaws being implemented under Awas Bandhu, aimed at integrating EV infrastructure into the city's residential developments.
"This step is intended to encourage low-emission transport and support the shift towards sustainable mobility," said a senior Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) official. Moreover, the LDA is preparing to launch a series of residential projects in Gomti Nagar, Aishbagh and Basant Kunj.
The scale and configuration of these projects will be based on responses to an online demand survey that remains open until July 31, 2025.
Designs are being revised to prioritise better cross-ventilation and reduce dependency on air conditioning. Floor plans will include larger kitchens, washrooms and balconies, and more structured green zones will be included in each housing complex.
LDA chairperson and divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob recently reviewed these housing proposals and directed officials to make the designs more functional and resident-friendly.

According to LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar, the identified plots include 4.5 acres in Viraj Khand (Gomti Nagar), 3.5 acres near Rapti Apartments (Gomti Nagar Extension), 4.65 acres on Mill Road (Aishbagh), and 3.7 acres in Sector-J (Basant Kunj), all with access to schools, hospitals and public transport. The upcoming units will offer 2BHK and 3BHK options with improved layouts, provision for natural airflow, and dedicated drying spaces.
Each site will include common facilities like lifts, parking, water systems, gym, pool, yoga space, children's play area and clubhouse. Officials have been instructed to keep the pricing below current private-sector rates and to increase the tree cover.
Site plans for Varun Vihar (Agra Expressway) and Naimish Nagar (Sitapur Road) were also reviewed, with instructions to incorporate mixed-use elements—residential, commercial, and logistics—to align with regional growth.

Gurgaon: Traffic cops have identified 23 conflict points at Pachgaon Chowk, one of the city's most notorious blackspots that has witnessed 11 fatalities and 12 injuries in 19 accidents between 2021 and 2024. The traffic engineering centre has highlighted how the junction's complex layout, combining high-speed highway traffic with slow-moving local vehicles, creates a deadly mix. The most recent tragedy occurred on June 21, when a Delhi Police head constable died and five others were injured after a Rajasthan Roadways bus overturned while trying to avoid crashing into a car. The report, prepared under DCP (traffic) Rajesh Mohan's supervision, identifies the junction as particularly hazardous because of its location at the median gap of NH-8 and its intersection with the Western Peripheral Expressway. The area's mixed land use, with Panchgaon village on one side and undeveloped land on the other, further complicates traffic movement. Govt owes tourism contractors over Rs 39.7cr with bills from 2019
Panaji : From housekeeping services and painting to legal fees and translations, the tourism department has racked up Rs 39.7 crore in unpaid bills. Contractors for events, vehicles and executed projects have been fretting with their money lying locked up with the tourism department as well as the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), with some of the bills dating all the way back to 2019. Among those that the department owes money are govt entities such as Goa Human Resource Development Corporation Limited and Goa Electronics Limited. The tourism department's 17 outstanding bills are largely for tourism roadshows and trade fairs, and most are for the current year with just two bills dating back to Dec 2024. However, GTDC's track record of clearing bills of contractors and event management firms is not on par. The Goa Human Resource Development Corporation Ltd provided security services at GTDC residencies for 2019-20 for which it billed GTDC Rs 1.03 crore, an amount that remains unpaid, shows data released in the state legislative assembly. Invoices towards the organisation of the Manohar Parrikar Vidnyan Mahostav in Dec 2021 worth Rs 3.7 lakh also remain unpaid.
