LANGKAWI, May 23 (Bernama) -- Amid thousands of visitors at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA'25), the sight of two young siblings fully dressed in Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) camouflage and pilot overalls stole the spotlight today.
Despite the scorching heat, nine-year-old Ahmad Rayyan Ahmad Saiful Roshairi and five-year-old Ahmad Rizzqi Ahmad Saiful Roshairi, were visibly excited as they admired rows of fighter jets and helicopters on display at the tarmac of the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC).
They were even more thrilled when they had the chance to take photos with members of the RMAF.
Their mother, Adh Dhuhaa Azmi, 33, said her sons had been up since 5 am out of sheer excitement to wear their specially tailored uniforms which she ordered from Melaka, complete with accessories for their visit to this year's exhibition.
'We come to LIMA every two years because we live nearby in Utan Aji, Perlis, but this is the first time for both my boys. They've always been fascinated by uniformed services, especially since their father is a member of the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA),' she told Bernama.
'They were thrilled to take photos with aircraft and ships on the tarmac. We were just a little disappointed that we only got to watch air shows from Russia and Indonesia,' she said.
Meanwhile, housewife Izzati Hanani Samsuddin, 36, from Banting, Selangor, said her family had only seen LIMA on television before, but this year, they decided to visit Langkawi to experience the air shows and maritime exhibition up close.
'To avoid congestion, we arrived in Langkawi as early as May 18. We bought our tickets online as they were cheaper and more convenient, and we did not have to wait in long queues.

A Mother's Love: Queen Shares Heartfelt Memories On Tunku Mahkota Ismail's Birthday

JOHOR BAHRU, June 30 (Bernama) -- Behind her royal duties and national responsibilities, Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, holds dearest the memory of one special day: the birth of her eldest son, the Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim. For Her Majesty, the day she gave birth to Tunku Mahkota Ismail, 41 years ago, remains vivid in her heart - a memory she lovingly shared in a heartfelt message on her eldest son's birthday today. 'It was the first day of Syawal, Hari Raya Puasa. Tuanku (His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia) was visiting his aunt and other family members when he received the news that I had safely given birth to Tunku Ismail, our eldest son. 'As parents, we celebrated the birth of our eldest son with immense joy and gratitude to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Alhamdulillah,' said Her Majesty in a post shared on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page. The post was accompanied by several cherished family photos from Tunku Mahkota Ismail's childhood. One of the highlights of the post was Her Majesty's fond recollection of her eldest son's childhood - how he would eagerly ask her to buy the latest PlayStation, with the FIFA football video game being his favourite. With a touch of humour, Raja Zarith Sofiah admitted she never imagined that childhood passion would one day take shape in real life, with Tunku Mahkota Ismail now taking on the role as the influential owner and manager of the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club. 'I would ask him, 'What game is this? What does Teak have to do?' and he would reply, 'Teak has to choose a football manager and pick the right players for Teak's team. 'I never imagined that one day, he would bring the game to life!' Her Majesty said.

Revived Labuan – Kota Kinabalu ferry at full capacity

Published on: Monday, June 30, 2025 Published on: Mon, Jun 30, 2025 By: Bernama Text Size: While the Ro-Ro ferry is generally preferred for travel to nearby districts such as Menumbok, Kuala Penyu, or Beaufort, the express ferry provides a direct, faster option to Kota Kinabalu. LABUAN: The Labuan-Kota Kinabalu express ferry service has seen a surge in passengers since resuming operations on May 27, following a three-year suspension. To date, more than 3,700 commuters have used the direct sea route, with each trip operating at full capacity of over 100 passengers. The revival of the service, linking the duty-free island to Sabah's capital, has been hailed by federal authorities as a much-needed boost to regional connectivity. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa described the ferry's return as a key development for Labuan's socio-economic growth. 'This express ferry is not just a transportation service — it is a vital connector for regional economic, social and development networks,' she said. Speaking to reporters at the Labuan International Ferry Terminal after welcoming passengers from Kota Kinabalu, Dr Zaliha said the service facilitates community mobility, daily activities, and the transport of goods within local supply chains. She expressed satisfaction with the strong public reception, noting that the ferry is popular among a wide range of travellers commuting between the two cities. 'This route offers a more convenient and time-saving alternative to the roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferry via Menumbok, especially for passengers without vehicles,' she said. While the Ro-Ro ferry is generally preferred for travel to nearby districts such as Menumbok, Kuala Penyu, or Beaufort, the express ferry provides a direct, faster option to Kota Kinabalu. Dr Zaliha also expressed hope that the operator would continue to enhance the service, including shortening travel time, to meet the growing demand. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
