YSRCP levelling baseless allegations on Talliki Vandanam scheme, says Anantapur MP

The Hindu16-06-2025
Anantapur MP Ambica Lakshminarayana has said that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and its leaders are making baseless allegations on the Talliki Vandanam scheme. He said the YSRCP leaders failed to prove their charges that ₹2,000 of each Talliki Vandanam beneficiary is going into the pockets of HRD Minister Nara Lokesh.
Speaking to media persons along with the TDP district president Venkata Sivudu Yadav here on Monday, Mr. Lakshminarayana said the NDA government had fulfilled another Super Six promise of financial assistance to every school going children in a house. 'Unable to digest the NDA government fulfilling its promise, the YSRCP and its leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy are leveling baseless allegations that ₹2,000 from every beneficiary is going into the pockets of Mr. Lokesh. Even as Mr. Lokesh challenged them to prove the allegations, they have not done so. The previous government also gave ₹13,000 financial assistance under Amma Vodi. Does it mean the remaining ₹2,000 went into the pockets of Mr, Jagan Mohan Reddy?' he questioned.
Mr. Lakshminarayana said while there were only 42 lakh beneficiaries under Amma Vodi, the Chandrababu Naidu-led government is giving financial assistance to 67.27 lakh students under Talliki Vandanam scheme. He said the Jagan Mohan Reddy government gave financial assistance to only one child in a household while the NDA government has not put any such rider. 'We have assured to implement the scheme before the start of the academic year and we have fulfilled it,' he said.
Mr. Lakshminarayana said students from 29.82 lakh BC students, 11.76 lakh SC, 4.26 lakh ST, 8.44 lakh EWS and 66,500 minority students will benefit from the scheme. He said the previous government had spent just ₹5,000 crore on Amma Vodi while the present government is spending nearly ₹10,000 crore on Talliki Vandanam for the bright future of the students.
'While the State government is implementing the scheme in a transparent manner, Mr. Jagan is making baseless allegations. It is Mr. Jagan who had taken commissions in purchase of chikkis and eggs meant for schoolchildren,' he alleged.

Govt has to sell A.P. to implement women's scheme, says Minister

Minister for Agriculture K. Atchannaidu on Tuesday stirred the hornets nest by saying that the government has to sell off Andhra Pradesh State if it wants to implement the 'Adabidda Nidhi' scheme one of the Super Six assurances given by the Telugu Desam Party prior to the 2024 general election. Mr. Atchannaidu made the sensational comments during a public meeting held at Mangalampalam in Kotthavalasa mandal of Vizianagaram on Tuesday. While participating in Suparipalana Toli Adugu programme organised to highlight the government's 'achievements' in the last one year, Mr. Atchannaidu said that it would be a herculean task for the government to provide financial assistance of ₹1,500 every month to all women above 18 years under the scheme. 'The government is left with no option except to sell the State to implement the Adabidda Nidhi, scheme. Despite the funding concerns, Mr. Atchannaidu announced that free bus travel for women will be rolled out from August 15, on Independence Day.

All basic amenities will be provided at mega housing project at Tangudubilli in Visakhapatnam district, says Bheemunipatnam MLA

Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has assured that all basic amenities will be provided at the mega housing project coming up across 690 acres at Tangudubilli in Anandapuram mandal. Of the proposed 16,996 houses under the project, 2,036 have already been completed. The MLA conducted a field-level inspection of the project site on Tuesday. Speaking to the media later, he criticised the previous YSRCP government, alleging that the housing policy was designed to benefit party leaders under the guise of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS). He said the former government had failed to ensure basic infrastructure in the area. 'Houses were allotted to beneficiaries living in Visakhapatnam city, nearly 30 km away, while ignoring eligible applicants from the village itself,' he pointed out. Reaffirming the coalition government's commitment, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that 3 cents of land in rural areas and 2 cents in urban areas would be allocated to eligible beneficiaries. He also highlighted the plight of those who had availed loans for TIDCO houses and are now struggling to repay them. The MLA interacted with three beneficiaries over the phone to gather feedback on the quality of the housing units and the challenges faced. He later spoke to District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad and urged immediate steps to provide essential amenities such as power, drinking water, internal roads, and drainage systems. Expressing displeasure over the absence of the contractor during his visit, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said he had received multiple complaints regarding the quality of construction. He directed officials to intensify monitoring and ensure quality standards are upheld. Housing PD Sattibabu, Executive Engineer Suri Babu, and MRO S. Suri Babu were present during the visit. Later, under the 'Suparipalana lo Tholi Adugu' programme, the MLA conducted a door-to-door campaign in Tangudubilli village and interacted with residents. He assured them that despite financial challenges, the State government was committed to fulfilling all election promises. TDP leaders Ghattamneni Subashchandra Bose, Tatraju Appa Rao, B.R.B. Naidu, Gandreddi Swamy Naidu, Yerra Raju, Balireddy Mallikarjuna Rao, Srikanth Raju, and S. Siva also took part in the campaign.
