Jason Constantine, Lionsgate Co-President, Dies at 55
Respected Lionsgate executive Jason Constantine has died at age 55 after a long battle with cancer, the studio announced Thursday.
The executive was a fixture on the festival circuit and a major player in the acquisitions space for years. He started his career more than 25 years ago at Trimark Pictures, the predecessor company of Lionsgate, where he served as director of acquisitions and rose through the ranks to become co-president of the Lionsgate motion picture group.

He was an early champion of Saw and pushed for the studio to acquire the project after viewing the short film from then-unknown director James Wan and writer-star Leigh Whannell. The franchise has grossed more than $1 billion at the box office, as has the John Wick series, which came under Constantine's tenure.
He also worked on The Expendables franchise; best picture winner Crash; Lee Daniels' Oscar-winning Precious, nominated for five Academy Awards and winner of two Oscars; and Rian Johnson's Knives Out, which was a sleeper hit at the box office.
'With his fearless spirit, creative energy and enduring talent relationships, Jason embodied the very best of our studio and our industry. His influence will continue to be felt in many of our most successful franchises,' Lionsgate said in a statement. 'His career was built around the principles that a great idea can come from anywhere, a box office triumph is meant to be shared by an entire team and our creative choices need to be bold and daring. We mourn the passing of a highly respected executive, a trusted partner and a cherished friend, and we extend our deepest condolences to his wife Kristin, his three children and his entire family.'
Constantine was a native of California, earning his B.A. from Princeton University and his M.F.A in film production from Loyola Marymount University. He was a movie buff, known for an encyclopedic knowledge of facts and figures about films.
His family asks that in lieu of flowers, mourners consider a donation to fund the brain cancer research of his neurosurgeons, Dr. Michael Lim at Stanford and Dr. Tim Cloughesy and Dr. Robert Chong at UCLA.
He is survived by his wife, Kristin, and his sons, Lucas, Nicholas and Xander.

In reality, three specific John Wick filming locations were used to portray the Continental's unassuming yet elegant exterior entrance, its grand foyer, and its other interior spaces. The Beaver Building provided the exterior. Cipriani 25 Broadway portrays The Continental's foyer. Finally, various spaces in Delmonico's Restaurant provided other interior shots in The Continental. The Beaver Building in the World of John Wick The front doors of The New York Continental sit at the corner of a classic flatiron-style building. By the nature of the architecture, the eye is drawn to the simple, stylish awning, where, in the fictional world of The High Table council members and their respective armies of killers, those who know, know they can seek sanctuary of the old-school. In reality, those doors lead to a restaurant space, currently vacant. The building itself, known as 1 Wall Street Court, even though the address is 82 Beaver Street, was built in 1904. Initially, it housed the offices of the Munson Steamship Line Company. They purchased the building outright in 1919. In 1931, the New York Cocoa Exchange moved in and remained a tenant until 1972. In a fun, full-circle throwback, the condo development is called The Cocoa Exchange at 1 Wall Street Court. Amenities include a full-time doorman, so getting inside would be tricky. But since the building is only The Continental's exterior, that's not really an issue. Be sure to wear your best bulletproof black suit when you pose for your selfie at this site. Cipriani 25 Broadway in the World of John Wick Charon's (Lance Reddick) domain, the foyer and front desk of the Continental, exists a short walk away inside the Cipriani event venue at 25 Broadway. The Grand Hall at Cipriani 25 Broadway is a truly breathtaking space decorated in classic Italian Neo-Renaissance style, complete with marble columns, frescoes, and inlaid floors. And despite the pictures of The Grand Hall in other articles about John Wick filming locations, it is the venue's Foyer that welcomes visitors to The Continental. Always fact-check, people. RELATED: The New Ballerina Trailer is Pure Fire 25 Broadway opened in May 1921 as the Cunard Shipping Line's New York City headquarters. They remained the primary tenants in the Great Hall until 1968. From 1974 to 2000, the US Post Office leased the Great Hall (can you imagine mailing a letter from there?). After more than a decade sitting vacant, Italian hotel and leisure company Cipriani S.A. took over the lease in 2014, turning it into an event venue. Delmonico's in the World of John Wick The third John Wick filming location used as part of the portrayal of The New York Continental Hotel is Delmonico's at 56 Beaver Street, a three-minute walk from The Beaver Building. Another flatiron-style building, its interiors were used for various interior scenes that needed rooms clearly inside the uniquely shaped building. While it may be hard to recognize the restaurant's spaces as their corresponding scenes in the World of John Wick shows, getting a table here is as easy as making a reservation. RELATED: Movie Review: John Wick: Chapter 4 Of the three sites, Delmonico's holds the record for longevity. Established in 1837, they tout themselves as the country's first fine dining establishment. Besides the Delmonico Steak, Delmonico chefs created well-known dishes like Eggs Benedict, Baked Alaska, and Lobster Newburg. The restaurant boasts private dining rooms, an extensive wine cellar, and the original Pompeian pillars supporting the portico to welcome guests. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is currently playing in theaters. John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, and John Wick: Chapter 4 are available on Netflix, but for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, you'll need to hop over to Prime Video.

Will There Be a 'The Waterfront' Season 2?
The Waterfront released its first eight-episode season on Netflix on June 19. The show is based on creator Kevin Williamson's actual family and his life growing up in North Carolina, and the dramatic story was a hit with viewers immediately. Fans are wondering if they'll get more of the Buckleys and their dynastic shenanigans. Here's what we know about a potential season 2 of The Waterfront so far. Warning: some spoilers for season 1 ahead. There has been no official order for a season 2 yet. The show just came out in June, which means that Netflix may still be assessing the success of the series. Williamson told The Hollywood Reporter a day after the show premiered that he 'went in there pitching three [seasons].' 'The good news is, with a family, I feel like we have such a great cast of actors that we could explore beyond three seasons,' he said. 'I went in there pitching three—that's [Netflix's] magic number.' Williamson added, 'In the back of my head, [I was thinking], 'Oh, this could go four [seasons]. It's only eight episodes.' I mean, three seasons is one season of network [television]. I could go five seasons if it's a success, but I'd be happy with three. Three would be a solid number.' In another interview with Screen Rant, Williamson said, 'I've just sort of figured out who these actors are in these roles, and I would love a chance to write for them, and lean into them, and I think the show can just go up. There's a whole second season that I have planned out, and a third season, quite frankly. I'm hoping I get the chance to tell those stories. I do think it's a fun show, and it's unlike anything I've ever done, and I just hope people enjoy it.' The Buckley family owns a North Carolina fishing empire on the edge of financial ruin. In season 1, one of the sons, Cane, starts smuggling drugs in the fishing boat, but slipping his toe into illegal activities soon has the whole family drowning as they're caught between two drug kingpins. The Parker family and local smuggler, Grady, already have a hand in the criminal market and they don't appreciate the Buckleys moving into their territory. The Buckleys and Parkers work to end Grady's operation, leading to a dramatic showdown where Bree Buckley and her son, Diller, end up on Grady's boat, held hostage to lure in big daddy Harlan Buckley. Bree gets shot and she and Diller narrowly escape, before Cane dispatches Grady and sends him overboard. Williamson told The Hollywood Reporter that Grady was 'definitely dead,' adding they were 'paving the way for an equally [evil] new villain next year.' 'The Parker family would become season 2's big conflict. We've only met Emmett and his father,' he continued. 'There are more Parker family members and they will prove to be equally as complicated as the Buckleys—and more dangerous than Grady could ever be.' Grady, played by Topher Grace, is no longer alive in The Waterfront universe, so he will probably not be returning. The Buckleys currently include Jake Weary, Holt McCallany, Maria Bello, Danielle Campbell, Brady Hepner, and Melissa Benoist. Other recurring characters in season 1 included Rafael Silva, Terry Serpico, Humberly Gonzalez, Dave Annable, Matthew Davis, Gerardo Celasco, and Michael Gaston.
