Kate Middleton channels Princess Diana in recycled ‘My Fair Lady' polka dot look
After stepping back from public events last year, Kate Middleton has been steadily returning to her public duties since the start of the year. Although her recent looks have been more understated and outdoorsy – such as her Claudia Winkleman -inspired countryside outfits during a visit to Scotland in April – Princess Kate has demonstrated she still knows how to put together a classic, elegant outfit for formal occasions with her most recent look.
The Princess of Wales opted for a re-wear of one of her favourite Alessandra Rich dresses as she attended the Thanksgiving Service to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day at Westminster Abbey. The white midi dress with polka dot print is a classic example of Kate's ability to nail a current trend (in this case polka dot prints) whilst still re-wearing her wardrobe and looking timeless and elegant.
Princess Kate most recently wore the Alessandra Rich dress during The Order of The Garter service at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle on June 19 2023, with fans pointing out the similarity between her outfit and Audrey Hepburn's look in My Fair Lady. The midi dress features long sleeves and a high neckline, with subtle pleating details around the waist and neck for a flattering and modest look.
The Princess of Wales' look is also very reminiscent of one of Princess Diana 's best-loved looks, which was her polka dot white midi dress that she wore to Royal Ascot in 1988. Just like Kate's Alessandra Rich dress, Diana's had subtle pleating across the waist for a form fitting silhouette, with long sleeves and a midi hemline.
This isn't the first time Princess Kate has made a subtle gesture of remembrance to Princess Diana's outfits, with Kate also opting for a white and brown polka dot dress during the 2022 Royal Ascot, which was a clear nod to her late mother-in-law's iconic look.
Whilst we're coveting Kate's exact dress, the hefty price tag is well beyond most of our budgets, not to mention unavailable to buy anywhere. Whilst you can pick up a similar sleeveless Alessandra Rich midi dress on FarFetch for £1070, we managed to find some more affordable options that let you copy Princess Kate's look for less.

Clover jewellery is all the rage at the moment, with designer brands ensuring it's the symbol of opulence in your accessories. These Drop-Detail Earrings In White And Gold add an elegant touch to any look. They boast a white and gold material just like Kate's go-to jewellery, with similar clover detailing and a drop-earring design that can elevate your workwear or date night ensemble with a royal-approved style. Mirroring the pearlescent effect of Kate's earrings, this pair from Ego features an ivory motif outlined in gold. They are sure to suit any aesthetic, whether you're heading to Ascot or brunch with the girls. What's even more enticing is that this £20 pair from Ego is currently up for grabs for the majorly reduced price of £9 while this limited-time deal lasts. Gen Z rank Love Island top cultural moment for summer 2025
The annual reality show also ranked higher than the Women's Euros (33%), where the Lionesses dramatically defended their title on penalties in Switzerland in front of a gripped 15m-plus audience back home. The Love Island water bottle (24%) is considered a 'British cultural artefact' by Gen Z. (Image: Joe Pepler/PinPep) The British Grand Prix at Silverstone (25%), Royal Ascot (18%), BBC Proms (16%), Edinburgh Fringe (12%) and Chelsea Flower Show (11%) make up the rest of the list. Gen Z's Top 10 British cultural moments of summer 2025 Love Island, 44% Wimbledon, 43% Glastonbury Festival, 37% Women's Euros, 33% British Grand Prix at Silverstone, 25% Oasis reunion tour, 23% Royal Ascot, 18% The BBC Proms, 16% Edinburgh Fringe, 12% Chelsea Flower Show, 11% Love Island – known for its sun-soaked villa antics, fiery recouplings and meme-worthy moments – has cemented its place in the national psyche as the event of the summer season. And not content with dominating screens, the guilty pleasure turned cultural juggernaut has also broken into the realm of cultural artefacts. The show's iconic personalised water bottle – seen in the hands of Islanders during every heated conversation and poolside flirtation – was named one of the top 10 symbols of modern British culture. In a list that included both serious and tongue-in-cheek contenders, the Love Island bottle rubs shoulders with the likes of the Greggs sausage roll, a Freddo, Colin the Caterpillar, and even the almighty Wetherspoons toilets. A testament to the show's impact, the Love Island water bottle (24%) is considered more of a 'British cultural artefact' by Gen Z than classics such as the Blue Peter badge (23%) and even Doctor Who's Tardis (19%). Both a hydration hero and certified cultural icon, the popular piece of Love Island merchandise has long since transcended the villa to become a must-have summer accessory. Spotted in the hands of Kimberly Wyatt at Wembley Stadium yesterday for the Oasis concert, the ex-Pussycat Doll and radio presenter arrived in style with the new Love Island bottle in tow – personalised with her name and newly released accessories. Taking its place in this season's cultural hall of fame alongside the likes of Oasis, Glasto, and Wimbledon, Love Island's enduring popularity has made it one of the most talked-about moments of the summer – with a quarter of the nation (25%) planning on tuning into the final next week.

ITV Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway opens up on 'traumatic' ordeal after being mugged
The presenter revealed the horrific ordeal on Good Morning Britain. Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has disclosed a shocking experience where her mobile phone was stolen. During a chat with Strictly Come Dancing star Michelle Tsiakkas, who had her own device grabbed from her grasp just weeks earlier, Kate disclosed she had endured a similar ordeal. Michelle posted on social media that she was heading to the dentist when she pulled out her phone to check directions, only to have it snatched from her hand. "Within about five to ten seconds of me taking it out, it was grabbed, gone," she disclosed on Thursday's Good Morning Britain. "I'm generally quite aware as a person, I look around me, but you just can't predict these things," reports the Daily Mirror. Elsewhere in the interview, which also included a police officer explaining what to do if someone does have their phone snatched in London, Kate opened up about her ordeal and felt the police weren't very helpful. She said, "That has not been my experience. Is there something different if things are swiped off you physically? "I've had phones stolen in London in a bag, I've tried to report it, and they've said, 'Do you want the insurance code number?' There was no sense that police were going to come, look at the area, see where it might be." Speaking about how she felt at the time, Michelle went on: 'I was quite traumatised, because it's a shock, you don't expect it, it's an invasion of your personal space.' 'When it happened, I felt like I lost the strength in my legs,' she explained. Her initial thoughts were to cancel her bank accounts and SIM and let her worried mum know what had happened before rushing to her appointment rather than calling the police. She also didn't think it would be worth the time reporting the incident, having heard friends in similar situations who hadn't had their phones recovered after telling the police. The Strictly star had previously revealed she had been left 'scared and helpless'. 'This was a couple of days ago, and I've just about mentally recovered from that. It was quite traumatising on the day,' she said on Instagram after the incident. 'It wasted my whole day and made me feel awful, scared, helpless, and I don't want the same to happen to you.' She added, 'My phone got stolen. I mean I see it happening all the time but it's just one of those things that you just never think it's gonna happen to you and then it does.' Wondering if maybe she was an 'easy target', she went on: 'My heart just sank. I tried to like reach for it and that made me fall on my knees on the floor and graze my knee. 'I think my reflex was just to swear and then scream give me back my phone and clearly you know that didn't work. He just left.' Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
