Alcatel V3 Classic and V3 Pro are also coming

GSM Arena22-05-2025
Alcatel is launching the V3 Ultra on May 27, and today we learned the event will see two more phones. The Ultra will share the stage with V3 Classic and V3 Pro – two 5G-enabled phones with 50 MP cameras and 5,200 mAh batteries.
The Ultra will be a rebadged TCL 50 Pro NxtPaper, and the other two are also part of the TCL portfolio – the Classic is the TCL 60, and the Pro is the TCL 60 SE NxtPaper. Alcatel V3 Classic
Alcatel advertises the V3 Classic as "India's First NxtVision Display," which is how TCL and Alcatel brand their regular screens. The NxtPaper technology will appear on the V3 Pro, a 6.7" LCD with up to a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The e-ink tech is the only major difference between the V3 Classic and V3 Pro - these phones will share the same 50 MP + 5 MP camera combo on the back and 8 MP selfie shooter, as well as the battery we already mentioned. Alcatel V3 Pro
We should point out that while TCL 60 launched with 256 GB storage, it seems like V3 Classic will be a 128 GB device (expandable with a micro SD slot). We also know the V3 Pro will bring 8 GB RAM, but the storage remains unknown here.
These phones should be fairly affordable - the TCL 60 SE NxtPaper launched internationally for €189, which is about INR18,000. We have to wait until Tuesday to learn how Alcatel will adapt the prices for the Indian market.

Samsung confirms it will soon be expanding One UI 8 beta to more phones, tablets, and watches

Samsung is getting ready to open up its One UI 8 beta to a wider group of Galaxy devices. The software, which brings new AI-powered features and interface upgrades, will become available to more users starting August 11th. The beta will originally be available for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the U.S., U.K., India, and South Korea. Over the next few weeks, Samsung will then open it up to more devices, like the Galaxy S23 lineup, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, the Galaxy Tab S10 series, and two budget devices such as the Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A35 5G. As usual, those interested will be able to sign up through the Samsung Members app. Samsung says this update is a big step toward making Galaxy devices more intelligent. The company is adding multimodal AI features that let people interact with their devices using a mix of voice, touch, images, and text. These tools are meant to make the phone feel more natural and helpful in everyday tasks. One UI 8 beta is coming to more devices soon. | Image credit — Samsung Samsung also plans to bring the One UI 8 Watch software to more of its smartwatches later this year. The update, which is already available for the Galaxy Watch 8, includes design improvements and new health features. Specific models have not been named yet. This time around, Samsung seems more comfortable pushing these beta updates early, unlike what we saw last year with the One UI 7 beta rollout. Google has also rolled out Android 16 betas for its Pixel phones until the final release, and continues to do so with its QPR (quarterly) updates. Apple is also pushing its iOS/iPadOS 26 betas on a timely basis, signaling that this might be a good year as fast as software updates across the board. For Samsung, how successful the One UI 8 rollout turns out to be will come down to how useful users find its new features to be. Some may find them helpful, while others might ignore them. But the wider beta gives Galaxy fans a good chance to try it out and decide for themselves.

Peter, 05 August 2025 Samsung started the public One UI 8 beta program on the Galaxy S25 series back in May – stable One UI 8 made its debut with the 2025 foldables. Next week, the company will expand the program to last year's flagships. Starting next week, owners of the following models in the US, the UK, India and South Korea will be able to sign up for One UI 8 beta through the Samsung Members app: Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. This release is scheduled to roll out in September for the Galaxy S25 series and expand to other product lines in sequence. People with older phones will have to wait longer. For example, the following models will be able to join the One UI 8 beta starting in September: Note that we are assuming that the Galaxy S FE models are included in their respective S-series, since Samsung is already testing One UI 8 on the S24 FE. Also, we're not sure why the Galaxy A36 is on the list but the A56 is not – this is from the global press release, so it's not a regional thing. Looking at the Watch branch of the One UI 8 tree, the Galaxy Watch Ultra already received the stable update. The Galaxy Watch7 is still on the beta for some reason, though. Samsung is also testing older models and says that One UI 8 Watch will 'expand to more Galaxy Watch models beyond the Galaxy Watch8 series later this year'.
