Eluru SC Welfare officer urges students to link Aadhaar with bank accounts

The Hindu07-07-2025
District Scheduled Caste (SC) Welfare and Empowerment officer Y. Vishwamohan Reddy stated that financial assistance under the 'Thalliki Vandhanam' scheme will be credited to the bank accounts of eligible SC students studying in the first year of Intermediate (2025-26), on July 10.
In a press release on Monday, he emphasised that in order to receive the benefit, the bank account must be in the student's name and linked with their Aadhaar number through the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) system. Students whose accounts are not yet linked to the Aadhaar are advised to immediately visit their respective banks and complete the process. The students without a bank account will not receive the benefit of the scheme. Therefore, such students must open a bank account today itself, preferably at a post office, and ensure it is linked with their Aadhaar through NPCI mapping.
The 'Thalliki Vandhanam' scheme provides financial support to SC students pursuing Intermediate education, and the proper completion of Aadhaar-bank linkage is crucial to ensure timely disbursement.

Dakshina Kannada achieves high student registry coverage of 82.1%

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district has reached close to 82.1% coverage in generating Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) IDs, a mandatory requirement for students from kindergarten to Class XII Samagra Shikshana Karnataka, which oversees the process, pointed out that despite this, DK tops the state from day one of its implementation. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The process for the current academic year for those who joined kindergarten and Class I is yet to commence. The officials have requested parents to keep all documents clear as the APAAR ID will be required for various academic-related works in the future. The data of every candidate's academic performance is accessed through it. Officials from SSK said that the major hurdle in not achieving 100% registration is because Dakshina Kannada has a lot of migrants coming from north Karnataka. There are also a few from other districts. "The Aadhaar card is primarily used to create the APAAR ID. However, the issue is that names and other credentials don't match each other. The spelling and address are wrong, which is a major complaint. As a result, the officials are unable to generate it. Also, they must go to their native places to rectify it, where they visit once or twice a year," an official said. A teacher from a govt school near Bokkapatna, that sees the highest number of admissions from north Karnataka, shared a similar concern. "We have so far been able to complete 80% registration. The rest is pending due to a mismatch of Aadhaar details. The name we have entered in the Student Tracking System is not there on the card. There are multiple spelling mistakes in their names. If there is a single spelling mistake, the system fails to complete the process," the teacher said. Govinda Madivala, DDPI, Dakshina Kannada, said that the APAAR ID, an initiative started across the country last academic year, enhances efficiency, removes duplicity, minimises fraud, facilitates student mobility, and enhances academic flexibility. Therefore, every parent should provide the right documents for the process. This ID functions as a permanent digital identity for the student in the education ecosystem. "The ID will be integrated with entrance exams in the coming year," he said.

Aadhaar Seeding for Ashrama School Students to Enhance Education Monitoring

MYSURU: Students studying at the govt-run Ashrama residential schools across the state will have their Aadhaar seeded with the educational records to monitor their progress. The department of tribal welfare has decided to ensure that all students of these schools get the Aadhaar numbers and seed them with the educational records to monitor their progress and ensure they receive all the benefits of the govt schemes. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to D Randeep, Secretary, Department of Tribal Welfare, the department is now coming out with several new interventions for the Ashrama schools based on the feedback he received during his recent visit to the Ashrama schools in Hunsur of the district, where he interacted with the parents and tribal students. 'Ashrama schools cater to the needs of tribal children who require residential schooling from 1st Std to 8th Std. In fact, from this year onwards, the state govt has announced the extension of classes up to 12th Std in a graded manner in 5 Ashrama Schools, including two each in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar, while one is in Kodagu,' he explained to TOI. This comes amidst the Ashrama school students receiving textbooks on the first day of the new academic year, with the Tribal Welfare Department joining hands with the Education Department to supply textbooks. 'All these years, textbooks for our children were arranged through our district office. To ensure that our children get the textbooks on the first day itself, we joined hands with the Education Department. As a result, the textbooks reached students on time. We are also planning to work with the Education Department on the academic excellence of our students,' he said. The state govt has provided Rs 113 crores for the building of additional classrooms to accommodate enrolled students. Work would commence this year itself. During the financial year 2024-25, Rs 25 crores has been released for repairs and additional rooms construction in Ashrama schools,' he said. He also informed that the tribal girls in these schools will get sanitary napkins henceforth to ensure healthy menstrual hygiene.
