Jason Schwartzman, Luca Guadagnino spotted filming OpenAI movie in S.F. park
The $40 million project follows CEO Sam Altman's firing and rehiring at the artificial intelligence company in 2023. The drama is helmed by ' Challengers ' director Luca Guadagnino and stars Andrew Garfield (' The Social Network ') as Altman, Mill Valley-raised Monica Barbaro (' A Complete Unknown ') as former Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati and Ike Barinholtz ('The Studio') as tech billionaire Elon Musk.
Scenes were filmed at Dolores Park on Wednesday, July 30, according to a Reddit user who shared photos of Yura Borisov (' Anora ') and Jason Schwartzman (' Mountainhead ') filming a scene on a bench. In the photos, Borisov wore a grey T-shirt and long necklace, both featuring the OpenAI logo, while Schwartzman was dressed in a red hoodie. Guadagnino was also spotted at the park.
Other social media users reported seeing filming notices from the company Eternal Leo Productions around the park listed for Tuesday, July 29, through Thursday, July 31. Notices were also spotted in North Beach and the Marina District.
Various casting calls for stand-in roles in 'Artificial' were found online for actors including Barinholtz and Cooper Hoffman ('Saturday Night') — Hoffman plays OpenAI President Greg Brockman. The roles were posted last week, with the final shoot dates wrapping up Friday, Aug. 1.
The Chronicle has reached out to the San Francisco Film Commission for comment.
Production company Eternal Leo is located at the same Southern California address as Amazon MGM Studios, which is working on 'Artificial.' A job listing for two office assistants shared by Film SF last week confirms that Eternal Leo is shooting a feature film in San Francisco.
The city has been a hotspot over the past few months, with several productions filming in various neighborhoods.
Earlier this month, 'The Steel Harp' shot scenes at the Seal Rock Inn Restaurant and Golden Gate Bridge, according to social media. Little information has been released about the project, but Mayor Daniel Lurie shared a video of a conversation he had with the film's co-director Alex Thompson in which he confirms the project's San Francisco setting.
In May, Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogen surprised BART riders during rush hour when they filmed scenes at Glen Park Station for their upcoming romantic comedy, 'The Invite.'

OpenAI Raises $8.3 Billion at $300 Billion Valuation
Microsoft-backed (MSFT) AI firm OpenAI has raised $8.3 billion in fresh funding at a $300 billion valuation, according to The New York Times. Indeed, the raise is part of the company's bigger $40 billion fundraising goal for 2025 and came months earlier than expected. It is worth noting that OpenAI had already secured $2.5 billion in March and initially planned to add another $7.5 billion later this year, but accelerated its timeline as investor demand surged due to the company's fast growth. Indeed, The Information reported on Thursday that OpenAI reached $12 billion in annualized revenue and surpassed 700 million weekly active ChatGPT users. Meanwhile, the Times suggested that the number may be closer to $13 billion and could hit $20 billion by the end of the year. It also helps that the Trump administration's AI Action Plan and ongoing talks with Microsoft could push OpenAI toward its goal of becoming a fully for-profit company. As a result, the latest round was led by Dragoneer Investment Group, which invested $2.8 billion in one of its most significant bets to date. Other new backers included Blackstone (BX), TPG (TPG), and T. Rowe Price (TROW), alongside well-known firms like Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, Sequoia Capital, and Fidelity. Interestingly, though, some early investors were reportedly frustrated because they received smaller allocations in this round, as OpenAI prioritized bringing in strategic partners to support its next growth phase. Is MSFT Stock a Buy? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on MSFT stock based on 33 Buys and two Holds assigned in the last three months. "I've Never Been Able To Erase It From My Mind": People Are Sharing The One Movie Ending That Will Stay With Them Forever, And This Is A Very Solid List
One of the most challenging things to do is make a good ending to a movie. So when the ending of a film sticks its landing, it makes sense why it will stay with someone forever. So when Reddit user Elegant-Gene9433 asked the r/Cinema community: "What's one movie ending that will stay with you forever?" so many people shared their favorites. Here's what they said below: 1."Seven. 'What's in the box!?'" 2."Planet of the Apes. I was 6 years old when I saw this. I've never been able to erase it from my mind. Absolute cinema." 3."The ending of Cloverfield (2008) was extremely memorable… in that everyone in the theater was like 'that's the ending?'" 4."The Thing (1982). Favorite ending of any movie." 5."Ending of The Mist." 6."Cast Away." 7."Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)" 8."The Inception ending still has me wondering if I'm in a dream or not." 9."Oldboy is messed up. The main character's eyes and facial expressions in the final sequence hint that, despite the hypnosis, he still remembers the thing he chose to forget." 10."The ending of the Rebuild of Evangelion had me cheering and tearing up at the same time. It was 20 years in the making. An anime series that was cancelled due to budget cuts and didn't get the ending it deserved. A decent attempt to close the storyline with a movie. And then a whole focused retelling of the four movies. Those four movies are self-contained and amazing. But if you watched the previous iterations, it's even more satisfying." 11."Clue because I'm old enough to have seen it in the theater when different parts of the country got different endings." 12."The Departed. I did not expect that ending." 13."Uncut Gems." 14."Train to Busan. Tears streaming down my face every single time." 15."The Shawshank Redemption. Got chills just thinking about it." 16."I don't think I'll ever forget the ending of La Haine until the punchline happens." 17."Saw (2004). The collective gasp of myself and the entire theatre at the end was worth the movie ticket price. Never forget that." Is there an ending to a movie that you will never forget?
