Jose Cifuentes was a key transfer target for Michael Beale when he was Rangers manager.
The Ecuador international signed a pre-contract deal in the summer of 2023 to join the Light Blues the following January following the conclusion of the MLS season.
But the Gers would get the deal done early, paying LAFC £1.2million to land Cifuentes just as the 2023/24 campaign was getting started.
The midfielder, capped 21 times by his country, struggled.
He made just nine appearances in the league and wasn't able to make much of an impact.
Beale was sacked as Gers boss at the beginning of October and Cifuentes found opportunities hard to come by under his replacement Philippe Clement.
In February 2024, just six months after joining the Gers, Cifuentes was on the way out.
He joined Cruzeiro on loan but his time in Brazil would also come to an end after just six months.
That loan agreement was terminated and Cifuentes then headed for Greece, joining Aris Thessaloniki on a season-long loan last August.
He would become a key man for Aris, appearing 29 times in the league.

The club secured European football after finishing fifth and they'll enter the Conference League qualifiers.
Aris had the option to sign Cifuentes permanently in a £3m deal but they missed the deadline at the end of May to make it happen.
They indicated to Rangers they couldn't afford the fee and re-entered negotiations with the Light Blues.
But no agreement was reached and Cifuentes has now bid an emotional farewell to Aris.
He'll now head back to Rangers and looks set to show new boss Russell Martin what he can do.
Taking to Instagram, Cifuentes said: "Thank you, Aris!

"Teammates, coaching staff, fans, and club personnel: It has been a pleasure to share this season with all of you—a season full of challenges that has now come to an end.
"On behalf of myself and my family, I thank you for everything we have experienced, and I wish you all the best for the upcoming season!"
Cifuentes still has two years left to run on his Rangers contract.

I'm a Ballon d'Or hero who went from playing at Seaton Park in Aberdeen to scoring a Champions League-winning penalty
One superstar's rise to the top included a trip to the Granite City in his formative years From humble beginnings to world stardom stories are not too uncommon in football. But one former Ballon D'Or winner has a career path that included an appearance at the now-defunct Aberdeen International Football Festival years before he went onto reach the very top. Andriy Shevchenko was a rising star in the Dynamo Kyiv academy in Ukraine when he was included in the U15 side that made the trip to Seaton Park in Old Aberdeen in 1990 for the tournament, which brought budding youngsters from all over the world together for a weekend of football. The future AC Milan and Chelsea superstar caught the eye at the event, despite being two years younger than the kids he was playing alongside. The 2004 Ballon D'Or recipient also stole the show at the Ian Rush Cup in Wales in the same year, and was personally presented with pair of boots by the Liverpool icon after being named as the player of the tournament. In an interview with FourFourTwo last month, Shevchenko - who scored the winning penalty for Milan against Juventus in the 2003 Champions League final - said: "Later, I travelled abroad with Dynamo. "We played in two different tournaments: one in Aberdeen and another in Wales, at the Ian Rush Cup. "Even though the boots were too small for me, I treasured them for years because everyone knew him and he was a Liverpool legend – I tried playing with them once, until my big toes poked through the toe area!" But while he was crowned top dog in the Aberwsysth, Shevchenko's displays in the Granite City were overshadowed by a fellow future international footballer. Forward Peter Ndlovu - who went onto star for Coventry City in the Premier League and win 100 caps for his country - was part of a Zimbabwe team that also took part in the tournament and pipped the Ukrainian to the award, as recalled by former Aberdeen Football Festival chairman George Wyatt. Speaking to The Press and Journal in 2022, former Aberdeen Football Festival chairman George Wyatt said: "I remember well that Dynamo Kiev team coming over. "They came over because they had a link-up with Rangers. I believe they had a link-up with Rangers, I believe they went to Glasgow for a tour around Ibrox before the tournament. "I clearly remember seeing Shevchenko, he played extremely well in the tournament. He was a year or two younger than his team-mates but even so he stood out." "That was an especially strong year because Peter Ndlovu, who went on to play for Sheffield United, was playing for a team from Zimbabwe. He won the player of the tournament and was absolutely outstanding."

‘Healthy competition' can drive England to Euro glory
Sarina Wiegman's side earned a convincing 7-0 victory over Jamaica in their final game before they aim to defend their European crown in Switzerland starting on Saturday against France. Toone got on the scoresheet in an England shirt for the first time since a 5-1 win over Italy in February 2024 as she netted both the opener and third goal from range. Send-off victory 🙌 — Lionesses (@Lionesses) June 30, 2025 There has been significant change in the England side since they reached the World Cup final two years ago but Toone is excited about the squad England have at their disposal for this year's tournament. She told the England website: 'It's nice to send ourselves off to the Euros in that style. 'I've waited a while for another goal in an England shirt and two came today, so obviously I'm really happy with that. But overall, the team performance was great and we're excited now going into the Euros. 'We've got a very talented squad, a very exciting group, and for us, we're going to take each game as it comes, we're going to step out and give our all as we always do, and hopefully we can make the nation proud. 'There's so much talent, there's players who have been to tournaments, players who are going to their first, and no matter what role I have in the tournament I'll make sure that I give my best for the team – we'll all be pushing each other and it's healthy competition.' Georgia Stanway was also on target at the King Power Stadium on Sunday alongside Lucy Bronze, Alessia Russo, Aggie Beever-Jones and Beth Mead. The Bayern Munich midfielder missed some of the season through injury but insists she has bounced back stronger. She said: 'I didn't expect to be having surgery at the end of January, it's my first injury in about 10 years so I've had a good innings. Maybe it happened for a reason but I'm feeling good, I'm feeling fresh. 'It's a cliche but I do feel fitter, faster and sharper than I have in a long time. I've timed it perfectly. 'But I think today the main focus was just trying to enjoy it. We've worked hard in training and we wanted to get those actions into the game today.'

The Hamza Igamane Rangers transfer temptation Ibrox insider urges them to resist for greater rewards
Ibrox chiefs have been told they've not seen the best of striker Hamza Igamane as the club dig their heels in over Lille's interest Former Rangers No2 Issame Charai has warned Ibrox chiefs they haven't seen anything close to the peak of Hamza Igamane's potential yet. The Moroccan kid is being tracked by Ligue 1 giants Lille but Gers' £15million valuation is proving a sticking point. Charai played a key role in recommending the striker to former boss Philippe Clement last summer during his stint as Morocco Under-23 gaffer before making the move to Glasgow himself earlier this year. The former first team coach - who quit Ibrox a fortnight ago to take over at Belgian top-flight outfit Westerlo - didn't want to put a value on the head of a player who fired 16 goals during his breakout debut campaign and still has another four years on his Ibrox contract. But he was happy to open up on his belief that Igamane - who cost £1.7million just 12 months ago - will only get better and better with time. And he has urged the Ibrox board to take that into account as they weight up Lille's interest. Speaking for the first time since his Ibrox departure, Charai told Record Sport: 'I think you haven't seen all that Hamza has to offer. I think that Hamza can show much more. 'He still has a lot of potential to show much more. So, that's why I think if he stays one more year, he would achieve a higher level. 'But obviously, if there are clubs interested, that means that they see his ability, they see his quality to be important for those clubs in France or Spain or England or whatever, because there was a lot of interest for him. 'Like I said, if he would go, I believe 100 percent that wherever he goes, he will show good quality. Equally, I would say it would be very good for Rangers if he stays.' Igamane is reportedly keen on the move to northern France having even shaken hands on a lucrative contract offer with a side who finished fifth in Ligue 1 last term. But as far as Charai knows, Igamane is happy in Glasgow. He said: :'Hamza, he has to make his own decision. We had a good chat before he left for the summer and I think he was planning to come back to Glasgow. He was happy there. 'So, I'm not sure how concrete that [talk about Lille] is. But I think also the club will have a price tag on his head. So I'm not sure about that. 'But it is something that he has to decide. Like I said, before I left Glasgow, he was actually very, very positive about his future at Rangers and felt that he could show more than he has shown.' Asked for his opinion on what would represent fair value for Igamane, Charai admitted: 'That's very difficult to say. I'm not aware of that. 'How much exactly they should ask for him? That depends on the man and the market at that moment. But he deserves all the best and for me, he's a very valuable player. 'But I cannot put a price on that because it's always the market and it's always the timing when a player comes in and when you need a player. I don't know the prices.' Charai reckons new boss Russell Martin will be keen to keep hold of a frontman who showed his explosive talent with a string of stand-out moments last year, most notably his Europa League double in nice and stunning strikers against Spurs and Celtic. But he admits the player himself will ultimately decide his own future. He said: 'I spoke with Russell about Hamza, but it was more about my situation. 'But it's important to know that obviously I brought Hamza to the national team. When Philippe called me to talk about Hamza, I was very positive and afterwards it was a positive deal. 'At the end, he's an adult and he has to make his choices. I will always support him, he's like a young brother for me. 'He has his agents too and there's a lot of things to consider. There are lots of things that are involved before you take a decision. 'So I can only advise and then it's him who takes the decision.'
