Three UNICEF initiatives to empower youth launched in Andhra Pradesh
The initiatives aim to equip young people across the State with the skills, tools, and platforms necessary to thrive in an evolving economy. These programmes align with the CM's 'One Entrepreneur, One Family' and the broader Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision.
Under Youth for Social Impact (YFSI), over 2 lakh students from polytechnic, degree, and engineering colleges will be upskilled in entrepreneurship and problem-solving through UNICEF's UPSHIFT framework. The programme targets the creation of a generation of job creators rather than job seekers. YouthHub, a digital-first, multilingual platform integrated with the State's Naipunyam portal, will connect marginalised youth to job opportunities, skill development, and volunteering programmes, ensuring digital inclusion at scale.
The Passport to Earning (P2E) initiative offers free access to digital and professional training for youth aged 15-29, equipping them with globally competitive skills to excel in the future workforce.
Principal Secretary Kona Sasidhar, APSSDC CEO G Ganesh Kumar, and others were present.

KTR-Lokesh ‘secret' meeting reflects BRS support to A.P. projects: Bhatti Vikramarka
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka claimed that the 'secret meeting' between BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh was a conspiracy of the BRS to extend full support to the Banakacherla project. Mr. Vikramarka issued a stern warning over what he called a conspiracy by BRS, BJP and TDP to compromise Telangana's interests in the name of the Banakacherla and Polavaram projects. He was speaking at a public meeting held in Kollapur constituency marking the launch of new electricity substations, the distribution of ration cards and allocation of Indiramma housing pattas. He questioned why the BRS government remained silent on Banakacherla for a decade. 'Only after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy intervened in Delhi, was the proposal halted,' he said. Referring to A.P. IT Minister Nara Lokesh's comments that Telangana was wasting the flood water, he rebutted that flood water was available for A.P. only because Telangana's upstream projects were never completed. 'Only after securing our rightful needs will Telangana consider any discussion on Banakacherla,' he asserted. Mr. Vikramarka criticised former CM KCR for discarding the Pranahita-Chevella project and instead opting for the Kaleshwaram project. 'KCR spent ₹1.2 lakh crore on Kaleshwaram, which ultimately failed. Pranahita-Chevella could have been completed with just ₹38,000 crore,' he said, accusing BRS of redesigning projects merely to loot the treasury. APSSDC launches IndiaSkills-2025 in State, releases poster
Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has launched the 'IndiaSkills 2025' campaign in the State. The Corporation's managing director and CEO, Ganesh Kumar, unveiled a poster of the event on Friday (August 1). The competition provides a national platform for young individuals to demonstrate their vocational talents and earn the opportunity to represent India at WorldSkills-2026 in Shanghai, China. Organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), India Skills 2025 is the country's largest skill competition, covering 60 plus skills from sectors like IT, advanced manufacturing, creative arts engineering and more. 'India Skills 2025 is not just a competition, it's a launchpad for promising careers,' said Mr. Ganesh Kumar and encouraged the youth from across the State to challenge themselves and make the State proud on the national and international stage.' Sharing details of the event, he said the last date to register is September 30. Participants' minimum age is 16 years and the age limit is 25 years. In general, participants must be born on or after 1 January 2004. For certain advanced technology skills such as cyber security, mechatronics and aircraft maintenance, the participants must be born on or after 1 January 2001. IndiaSkills 2025 follows a structured, multi-tiered selection process and each participant can apply for only one skill, he said, adding that the multi-level competition includes district, State, regional and national rounds, and selected candidates will receive specialised training and mentoring for global exposure. Nara Lokesh Accuses Jagan Reddy Party Of Cancelling Agreements With Singapore
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh launched a scathing attack on the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, accusing it of systematically destroying the state's brand and obstructing development. He said the state suffered significant losses due to the cancellation of key agreements and the hostile environment created by the previous administration. Lokesh specifically cited the cancellation of agreements with the Singapore government for the joint development of Amaravati, as well as the exit of companies like Amara Raja and Lulu, as examples of the previous government's detrimental policies. He asserted that while other states have prominent economic hubs like Bengaluru and Chennai, Andhra Pradesh's brand is synonymous with the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Highlighting the current government's efforts to revive the state's economy, Lokesh announced that major projects are on the horizon. He mentioned that the country's largest steel plant and data centers are set to be established in Andhra Pradesh. He also stated that Visakhapatnam, which was not on the national IT map, is now being included in the state's development plans. Defending the government's decision to allocate land to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) at a nominal rate of 99 paise per acre, Lokesh clarified that this was done to attract investments and create jobs, not to benefit any specific company. Lokesh also shared details of his recent successful visit to Singapore, where agreements were signed for investments worth Rs 45,000 crore. The IT Minister further alleged that the YSRCP is actively working to sabotage investments in the state. He claimed that a person named Muralikrishna, with links to YSRCP leaders, sent an email to Singapore officials to block investments by falsely stating that the AP government would change soon. Lokesh also pointed out that YSRCP leaders had gone to court to challenge the TCS land allocation. He criticized this behaviour, stating that while parties in Tamil Nadu and other states work together for investments, the opposition in Andhra Pradesh is actively working to deter them. Lokesh appealed to the YSRCP to stop its "destructive politics" for the sake of the state's youth and development. He warned that if such actions continue, it would be the people of Andhra Pradesh who would suffer. He reiterated the government's commitment to job creation and development, citing that the government brought in more investments in its first 14 months than the YSRCP did in its entire term.
