Barcelona young sensation praised by former Premier League duo for one key trait
Lamine Yamal has rightfully been hyped as one of the best players in the world after his quality last season and it is clear that he has a long and successful career ahead of him.
There have been worries in recent weeks about the player's lifestyle and his possible straying off track with overt celebrations. However, he has always been one to speak through action and one cannot fault him as long as he produces the same impact.

Last season, he was Barcelona's single-most important creative outlet across all competitions and even improved significantly in terms of goals as the season reached its end.
Two greats praise the phenom
Paul Pogba was recently invited on Sergio Kun Aguero's podcast for a guest appearance and the duo conversed on a plethora of topics.
One of the topics they touched upon, and even went on to agree on, was Lamine Yamal's undeniable quality and his 'team first' mentality over his personal accomplishments.

Speaking on the Barcelona phenomenon, Aguero had nothing but praise as he highlighted the youngster's ability to bring creativity and goal contributions with ease, but stressed how he plays for the team.

'Lamine Yamal plays for the team and doesn't care if he scores more or less goals. He gives a lot of assists and is always a player who creates chances,' he said.
To the Argentine legend's words, Pogba could only agree and further elaborate on how he was impressed by Yamal's maturity and mentality to put the team first.
'He is a wonderful player, what surprises me most is his mentality. He always plays clearly and that that happens with a player his age is crazy. He always plays for the team.'
Yamal is currently on vacation and will return to train for pre-season early next month. He will once again have a pioneering role to play for the Catalans under Hansi Flick next season.

OT7 Finals: Garcia's takeaways from Saturday's action
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The pool play rounds of the 2025 OT7 Finals are now behind us as more of the nation's top prospects turned heads in South Florida on Saturday. Rivals was again on hand and provided some fresh takeaways from the action. OT7 FINALS: Recruiting Rumor Mill | Top performers from opening day CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State The Saturday Quarterback Clinic The initial day of OT7 featured play-making from every position, but the quarterbacks were especially dominant on Saturday. We counted single-digit interceptions tossed on the entire day and night while high point totals were simultaneously achieved. Advertisement In amassing a top performers list, at least half of a top 10 would include passers who sprayed it all over the field from Dereon Coleman (Miami), Derrick Baker, Briggs Cherry (Louisville), Gavin Sidwar (Missouri), Maika Eugenio (Hawaii), Neimann Lawrence and many more. The clear weather was an indicator of precise QB play on this day. Jared Curtis Settles In The big-time passer headed to Georgia has a big frame and the big arm attached to it, something he has showed off on routine at OT7. When power and/or distance is needed, the five-star is seemingly at his best. He admitted there has been an up-and-down pace to his first club 7-on-7 event, but when Curtis has been right, it has looked plenty good to the point the Matt Stafford comparisons seem to make more and more sense. Advertisement His team has taken some tough losses, so he'll be up against elimination early on championship Sunday. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT Cam Newton's Calls The former Heisman Trophy winner commands his own attention in any setting, and he doesn't run from it, but there should be more said and/or written in regards to his longevity and true involvement with C1N. He is calling plays, letting his emotions fly and most importantly orchestrating perhaps the emerging favorite of this national tournament. Newton's squad, captained by breakout quarterback prospect Derrick Baker, goes for a 'one-point gamble' after every score and it has executed on a high enough level to convert well more than not. Youth Movement Among the stars of Saturday were a trio of 2028 recruits, from IMG Academy's do-it-all talent Eric McFarland, who kicked off the day with multiple scores and the type of yards after contact that already separates him as a national recruit, to more dominance from Brysen Wright on the outside. The Jacksonville native made the play of the day Friday and continued to get behind defenders on Saturday in another multi-score showing. Advertisement South Floridian Amir Sears continues to look like one of the more lengthy and instinctive players regardless of class or position, making plays at both wide receiver and defensive back. Maika Eugenio's Flowers There is just a buzz when the Lo-Pro quarterback, who is committed to Hawaii, takes the field. He pilots the nation's top 7-on-7 club, which exited the weekend as not only the No. 1 seed for the championship on Sunday, but ran through its schedule undefeated and scored the most points along the way. Eugenio has the charisma to lead, but his play doesn't get spoken of enough. He processes like few passers nationally and can deliver to all three levels with both great accuracy and timing. Sure, he's small in stature and won't project like a potential No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick, but he just racks up wins at Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman High School and everywhere in between. I wouldn't bet against him continuing to prove his worth at Hawaii either.

Enzo Maresca ‘very proud' as Chelsea book last-eight berth
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was proud of his team after beating Benfica in extraordinary, weather-hit circumstances to reach the Club World Cup quarter-finals. The Blues eventually ran out 4-1 winners after extra-time in a last-16 tie in Charlotte which was suspended for almost two hours due to a thunderstorm. Advertisement Chelsea had been just four minutes away from victory following Reece James's stunning free-kick when the players were taken off the field at the Bank of America Stadium. Benfica benefited from the break and forced extra-time with a controversial Angel Di Maria penalty after play finally resumed. The game swung back in Chelsea's favour after the Portuguese giants had Gianluca Prestianni sent off and Christopher Nkunku gave them a decisive lead. Breakaway goals from Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wrapped up the win. Maresca told DAZN: 'I'm very proud. The performance for me was top until the last five minutes when they stopped the game, and when we restarted (it was) a completely a different game. Advertisement 'When you are inside for more than one hour it's not easy but, 1-1, we continued to play and, at the end, I think the reward was one that we deserve.' The players were pictured riding exercise bikes and kicking balls in the dressing room during the enforced break. Maresca said: 'Especially when it's 85 minutes, five minutes to go, it's very difficult. Benfica's Angel Di Maria, front, and Chelsea's Moises Caicedo battle for the ball (Nell Redmond/AP) 'But we tried to keep them in the best way we could in that moment and, at the end, we are in the last eight teams here in this competition and we are very happy.' Chelsea will return to Philadelphia, where they played two group games, to face Brazilian side Palmeiras in the quarter-finals on Friday. Advertisement 'Now we need to recover players, recover the energy and go again,' said Maresca. Moises Caicedo delivered an influential performance but will miss the next game after being booked for a second time in the tournament. Caicedo said of the team's prospects: 'We believe. We know this a tough tournament but, the thing is, we're working hard and doing well. At the end, we're going to see why we (are still) here.' Reflecting on the weather delay, the Ecuadorian said: 'We were talking in the dressing room. The thing was (to stay) focused the whole game. I'm so happy because we did it.'

'It's a joke': Chelsea boss Maresca slams weather chaos
Play is halted at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte in Chelsea's Club World Cup game against Benfica (ANGELA WEISS) Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca lashed out at the two-hour weather delay that disrupted his team's Club World Cup victory over Benfica on Saturday, suggesting the tournament should be played elsewhere in future. Chelsea powered into the quarter-finals after defeating Benfica 4-1 in extra-time after a game that took 4hrs 39mins to complete following a two-hour stoppage due to a storm warning. Advertisement It was the sixth time that a game has been halted at the tournament due to widely used rules in the United States that require outdoor sporting events to be halted if there is a chance of lightning. Maresca said afterwards the number of games that had been disrupted should prompt a rethink. "For me personally, it's not football," the Chelsea boss said. "It's already (six) games they suspended here. I think it's a joke. It's not football. "It's completely amazing, it's completely something new that I struggle to understand. "I can understand that for security reasons, you have to suspend the game. But if you suspend seven or eight games, that means that probably this is not the right place to do this competition." Advertisement Chelsea had been poised to wrap up victory after Reece James's second-half free-kick left them 1-0 up with four minutes left to play. But the storm warning forced the players off the field and it was nearly two hours before play resumed. "It was one of the best performances of the last few weeks," Maresca said. "The game was very good for 85 minutes, then we stopped for two hours, and when we started it was a completely different game. It's not the same game because you break the tempo." Maresca emphasised that he remained a fan of the Club World Cup, which was expanded to 32 teams for the first time this year, and is being held in the United States as an informal dress rehearsal for the 2026 World Cup in North America. Advertisement "It's a fantastic competition. It's the Club World Cup, all the best clubs are here," he said. "But six, seven games suspended? It's not normal. In a World Cup how many have they suspended? Probably zero. In a European (Championship), how many games? Zero. There is some problem." rcw/sev
