On World Environment Day, flyers at Delhi airport to get seed balls
DIAL said the initiative is designed to promote environmental awareness among travellers while directly contributing to carbon sequestration efforts in the region. The seed balls will consist of fruit-bearing species.
'The seed balls include a carefully curated mix of fruit-bearing and environmentally beneficial tree species — Lemon, Tamarind, and Gooseberry (Amla), along with Neem and Peepal. These species were selected for their ecological value, medicinal properties, and ability to thrive in varied climatic conditions,' said a DIAL spokesperson.
'The fruit-bearing trees, which will grow out of the seed balls thrown by flyers, will contribute to sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities,' DIAL added.
Vouching for the project's larger vision, DIAL's CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said, 'Each seed ball will not only help restore green cover but also support rural livelihoods. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to environmental stewardship and social impact.'
Seed balls, often regarded as a low-maintenance and affordable tree-planting technique, are created by embedding seeds in a mixture of clay and compost. When dispersed on soil, they require minimal intervention to eventually take root and grow.

A fresh spell of rains occured in the national capital on Monday morning with the India Meteorological Department forecast of moderate to heavy rainfall in the entire Delhi and NCR on July 14. 'As per the Indian Meteorological Department's forecast, Delhi is experiencing inclement weather conditions. Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free. Passengers are advised to consider alternative modes of transport, including Delhi Metro, to reach the airport and avoid potential delays,' the DIAL said in the travel advisory. Delhi, on Sunday, also witnessed heavy rainfall leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion in many parts of the national capital. A traffic jam was witnessed at Rajiv Chowk as vehicular movement slowed down, following heavy rainfall. Delhi has experienced incessant rainfall since Wednesday, causing waterlogging in several areas, including Bindapur in Uttam Nagar, where roads are submerged under water. Traffic also came to a standstill in many parts of the national capital following the heavy rainfall. (ANI)

Hotel launches drive to plant 432 saplings in Trichy
Trichy: Courtyard by Marriott Trichy has launched a green initiative to plant 432 saplings across the city in association with local schools and the State Institute of Hotel Management. The drive began on June 5, World Environment Day, and 247 saplings have been planted so far. The hotel aims to complete the target by August 2025, continuing plantation efforts throughout the year.

However, authorities have warned of heavy traffic in the areas surrounding Palace Grounds and Bellary Road, urging commuters to plan their travel accordingly. To handle the anticipated crowd, Bengaluru Traffic Police has released a comprehensive advisory, as per Times Now. Commuters are requested to follow the suggested routes and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow. If you're heading to or passing near Palace Grounds today, here are the important travel updates you should be aware of. – Windsor Manor Junction → BDA Upramp → Ramanamaharshi Road → P.G. Halli Bus Stand → Kaveri Junction → Mekri Circle Service Road → Mekri Circle. – Parking is available at Gate No. 02 of Tripuravasini Palace Grounds. – Attendees can then walk to the event venue by following the posted signs. – After the event, buses should exit through the Hunasemara Gate on Jayamahal Road and continue via Mekri Circle, heading either into or out of the city. Participants coming from different areas can follow these directions: – From Hebbal (via Bellary Road): Use the Mekri Circle underpass and head to Gate No. 02 for parking. Walk to the venue from there. – From Yeshwanthpur: Follow Sir C.V. Raman Road to BHEL Circle, then via Sadashivanagar PS Junction to Mekri Circle Service Road.
