At upcoming UPITS 2025 event, UP to showcase its tourism potential to the world
The five-day mega event will see Uttar Pradesh projecting its tourism potential to the world by showcasing its rich cultural heritage and also its unique local products, traditional handicrafts.
The move reflects Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's goal and objective to establish Uttar Pradesh as a global tourism hub.
The UPITS-2025 is the flagship trade event of the Uttar Pradesh government, bringing together policymakers, global business leaders, trade representatives, and industry experts under one roof. The event will play a vital role in the state's journey towards achieving its one trillion-dollar economy target, with tourism being identified as a key growth sector.
As part of the preparations, the Tourism Department is setting up an expansive stall that will showcase the state's heritage sites, temple architecture, thematic tourism circuits, and PPP-based tourism projects, alongside highlighting local crafts and One District One Product (ODOP) items.
To enhance visitor engagement, the department will also introduce and promote digital tourism tools such as mobile applications, websites, and QR codes, allowing easy access to information and seamless travel planning.
To attract visitors, the stall will include auto-navigation screens that showcase popular tourist destinations in UP. There will also be an Augmented Reality (AR) based digital touch panel where visitors can click selfies with images of at least six famous tourist sites.
Preparations are also underway to host traditional dances like Mayur Nritya (from Braj region), tribal dance forms (from Sonbhadra and Lakhimpur), Bundeli Folk Dance (from Jhansi), and Kathak (Lucknow Gharana).
Each day, there will be six short performances, each lasting around five minutes, with opportunities for visitors to click selfies with the artists.
The Tourism department will also set up registration counters for event planning, B2B meetings, and 20 co-exhibitors.
The Tourism department is working in mission mode to make UPITS 2025 a huge success. The goal is not only to present Uttar Pradesh's rich cultural diversity to the world, but also to boost the tourism sector and strengthen the economy. The event promises to be a memorable experience for millions of visitors and a significant milestone in promoting Uttar Pradesh as a top tourist destination.

LUCKNOW: In a major push towards ' Housing for All ', the Uttar Pradesh government has secured financial approval of Rs 12,031 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission 2.0 to provide pucca houses to the urban poor, according to a statement released on Saturday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure transparency and quality in construction, the statement said. Following this, geo-tagging and photographic documentation of each house will be mandatory under PMAY (Urban), enabling real-time monitoring at every stage of construction. All houses will also be equipped with disaster-resilient features to safeguard against earthquakes, floods, and other calamities, making safety an integral component of the scheme, it said. The cost of construction under the scheme is being shared between the Centre and the state government in a 60:40 ratio. Each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs 2.5 lakh in assistance to build a permanent (pucca) house. Launched on September 1, 2024, the PMAY (Urban) Mission 2.0 aims to ensure pucca houses for all families by the set deadline. The scheme is being closely monitored by officials at both the state and district levels to guarantee timely and quality construction. The initiative not only provides social security to the urban poor but also promotes integrated urban development across Uttar Pradesh, the statement added.

Varanasi: Preparations for third Monday of Shrawan were finalised in Kashi amid pleasant weather conditions as saffron-clad started converging in large numbers on Sunday. Officials were busy enforcing traffic and crowd regulation arrangements, while Vishwanath Gali traders association began preparations to facilitate 'jalabhishek' ritual. Special attention was paid to proper sanitation, the availability of drinking water, and necessary resources on the routes leading to Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Officials also kept a sharp vigil on Kanwariya camps. K ashi Vishwanath Temple authorities are ensuring opportunity for pilgrims to get a glimpse of Lord Vishwanath adorned in different forms every Monday of Shrawan. The temple's chief executive officer, Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, said that on third Monday of Shrawan, the deity will be adorned in special form of 'Ardhanarishvara' during the evening Shringar Aarti. Meanwhile, police commissioner Mohit Agrawal and other senior officials were busy monitoring arrangements finalised for managing the crowd, especially on Mondays of the auspicious month. Logistics and warehousing policy to be announced soon: Sirsa
The Delhi government will soon launch the Logistics and Warehousing Policy, 2025, said Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Sunday. The government is exploring dedicated logistics hubs, green freight corridors, and technology-driven solutions, as the policy, which aims to ease congestion, curb pollution, and boost ease of doing business, is expected to be made public in 15 days, according to the Minister's office. The policy will be structured around 16 key action points, which collectively aim to overhaul Delhi's logistics landscape, including 24/7 operations for logistics parks through amendments to the Model Shops Act, digital delivery management to optimize truck movement and reduce peak-hour traffic, and merging trade and establishment licenses to cut red tape for warehousing businesses and others. 'This is a game-changer policy. It will make our logistics ecosystem cleaner, faster, and more competitive. Traders will gain, commuters will breathe easier, and Delhi will set a benchmark for sustainable urban freight,' Mr. Sirsa said. Mr. Sirsa said that Delhi currently handles 10 lakh tonnes of freight per day through 1.93 lakh vehicles, 21% of which passes through traffic. The largest share is carried by trucks transporting building materials (4,132 vehicles/day), textiles (3,995), fruits and vegetables (2,569), and food products (2,468). Even pharmaceuticals (559) and automobiles (588) contribute to congestion. 'Without proper warehousing zones, these vehicles enter city interiors, clogging major routes and worsening pollution,' Mr. Sirsa said. The Minister said that the draft policy proposes relocating warehouses to the periphery, consolidating freight at three modern Urban Consolidation and Logistics Distribution Centres to be built on city outskirts with incentives for traders and shifting last-mile deliveries to electric and CNG vehicles. 'These measures will cut vehicular emissions and reduce congestion at hotspots like Azadpur, Ghazipur, Naraina, and Karol Bagh, delivering a significant win for air quality,' he added.
